Do you prefer the official fora or other unofficial fora?

I have no idea whether Nina is a racist bigot or whatnot. I got the distinct impression that she was misinterpreted and she decided to run with it as a sort of mockery, but that's just IMHO.

But what did get *really* old was the formula of:

Nina says something about a topic at hand
J.N. would call her a racist and a bigot
Nina would ask what that has to do with anything/ask for a link/repeat her comment
Bunch of others would chime in agreeing with J.N.
Thread would deteriorate into Nina bashing
C.M. would ban Nina from the thread claiming that she is derailing the thread

Occasionally someone would ask J.N. to just stop derailing every thread with Nina racism accusations. They would be subtly or not so subtly accused of defending a racist.

It was funny the first n times...

actually i had commented that africans were not being admitted to australia due to their inability to integrate (meaning they are not behaving).

the biggest problem i had on slu was there were a handful of people that lacked reading comprehension skills and loved to pull things out of context to paint me this way or that way.

If you've ever seen me do this, then by all means show me where. I have said the same thing to people posting on forums about threads in other forums before, not just here. Also, the rest of my post was rather relevant - I said I liked both, but understood both weren't for everyone. Would you rather defend the O.P.? Really?

I've managed to steer clear of most drama simply by not clicking on threads I know will be debated hotly. I'll occasionally share in the political forums, but not often, and avoid getting sucked into endless loops of feedback. Say what you have to say, debate a few points, and get out. Don't get into multi-thousand post back and forths.

I haven't yet read all this thread, but I wanted to say I post at both forums (and a third as well), and enjoy both.

As an adoptive mother, though, I didn't enjoy Conan referring to adopted children as "damaged goods" out of the vegetable bin.

[3] Silence does not mean aquiesence, and never assume it. I avoid politics as much as possible because I'm pissed enough with Chinese politics as is that I don't want to even talk about it anymore. Surprise!!!! Learn to never make assumptions based on what is not said. Basic rule in math ... and in communications.

This is silly. I went over to SLU as a total unknown and had no problem assimilating and making friends. I hang out at both forums now, and I see now difference between the people. The styles of communication differ, which is appropriate, given the nature of the two forums, but essentially, it's the same sort of people at both places.

It's not that there are no problems here and SLU is awful. I left here when I became so disappointed at the trolling here by a few people I felt were complete elitists and acted like because they were oldbies the world owed them something, and that nobody but they were qualified to participate. After I was made to feel completely unwelcome by a few people, I decided to go find somewhere that I was welcome. Now, if I want to post something funny or off-topic, I try to keep it over there, and minimize that stuff here. It works great. I still have a lot of friends here, and I have new ones there.

People who have been banned complaining about other people who have been banned and the place that banned them are, by their very nature, biased and lacking in credibility.

Not to mention ladies to rate.

I generally find how one treats others is how one is treated in return. However some simply wish to cause problems no matter how they are treated. These types I try to not deal with.

With one exception, I didn't have any troubles either. But that's not everyone's experience. You can't prove by example.

People... people... we shouldn't be fighting between ourselves. We're all internet forum nerdballs, and as such, we should be banding together to fight off the healthy, tanned, non-internet people who keep us down in the big, scary, real world.

In Latin, forum is a neuter noun; in its plural form, it is correct to say fora. The same reasoning applies to the word "memorandum"; in Latin, the plural is memoranda.

Of course, being a loan word, Forums is equally valid.

Much like stadia and stadiums are both acceptable plurals of stadium
