Briana, I have two Master's degrees, one in communication, and I'm not going to play games around what you meant by telling me a 'quote is beyond my grasp'. It was an attack on me. If you'll read the whole thread, because I didn't act like an a**hole to anyone (even you at the time, like I said I went back to it later), people actually wanted to keep me around...because I addressed their complaints on the POST...and fixed it per their suggestions...

(which is not to say, btw, that I have my entire life worked out. One thing I don't do however is START my conversation, no matter how annoying a person is, by insulting their intelligence before any other statement. That comes later.)

See, I can read more out of what was said than what might have been intended. On the other hand, maybe that was the intention. To say "Listen, stupid, I'm the one with advanced degree, so shut up. I know what I'm talking about." I will assume that was not the intention. Oh, and I can read. That communication paragraph started with Briana's name.

I think my track record speaks for itself. You could learn a lot more about the soul and spirit of here, Mr. 2 post... or from SLU for that matter.

There's a lot to be said about observing a community before you speak; speaking softly at first; and then becoming, truly a community member. This is the way things have always been done, since Compu$erve.

Some of SL's most talented artists have never set foot in these forums.

However, a great percentage of SL's most talented content creators view these forums on average than single-time users do. That may sound like an obvious statement, but it is not.

Anyone who takes the time to make several hundred (or thousand, as the case may be) is clearly passionate about the core concept (I don't dare say product), and that is something to consider. While there are many incredibly talented artists that disdain the forum concept - whether it be here, SLU, SC, SS, or anywhere else - I still fail to see the reason for infighting between SLers.

When a 2-post rookie comes in and says things like, "Express yourself in builds, not words!" (excuse the translation from the O.P.), I get a bit miffed. It insults me that mature discussion can not occur.

There's a lot of great discussion that happens here - and on SLU - and happened on SC - and happens on SS - there's no reason for anyone to disparage what happens on any individual conduit. Find a community (or, communities, like me!) that suit you. Some are more weighted for wise-ass dreamers like me. Some are more weighted for corporates. Some are more weight for educators.

Back in the day - there was only one place. Here. Now there are many.

Deal with it.

DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS. LIVE AND LET LIVE - PLEASE!

If you try to drop into another community, and you don't fit in? So what? Find another. This, and SLU, and SS, and SC, and SLHomepage, and SL-Forums.com, and the other 8,000 fan sites... there are plenty of places for anyone to find a home - or start one.

There's no reason to turn the official de-balled forums into an arguing ground. This place serves its purpose. I rather enjoy it, to be honest (see: post count, and activity, and recent posts). That said, I enjoy SLU for the more fun-loving, wise-ass aspect.

THERE IS NEVER A NEED TO PICK A SIDE.

And hey, Conan, O.P. - still waiting for your answers, that I've reiterated in this post. Honestly, I want to know.
