Do you prefer the official fora or other unofficial fora?

This is just a cheap excuse that the admin of SLU always puts out: "you cannot get banned from SL for what you say here".

But you can get banned from SLU for what you do not say, and whatever post happens to be copied off SLU that you pass around to a few people. (After of course someone passed it to you first in SL and on a different forum).

Not true at all. I'm not saying there aren't disagreements and sometimes all out fights, but the majority of the time, the interactions there are very friendly and fun. And, even when there are fights, people *generally* come back around and apologize after they've cooled down a bit...hugs are exchanged and all is right with the world again.


OK, I know a lot of the same people are on SLU now, but I lurked on SC and was actually fairly intimidated in a way I'm not on SLU...I put it down to Cris' Jedi mind powers. The Force is strong in that one!

In any case, I don't see anymore 'drama' going on over there than I do here and the demise of THIS board still seems far more likely.

Well, his account says "Banned" and the mod says he won't talk about it publicly. If that's some technical problem, rather than what it appears to be, I'll take back my comments.

He not only left, but he posted a thread on his exit directed at Cristiano. The thread was deleted but not before several people saw it, 2 of who gave it to me. Which I then passed around to 4 others and got banned for it.

it's just a whining wannabe boytoy taking his frustration about not being put on a pedestal from the glorius boytoy leader, and his hurt about being rejected. certainly it's not worth repeating - or being banned over.

I never did understand the weird twisted relationship between him and, er, the other. They took great pains to make sure we knew it wasn't sexual in nature (which I believe), but there was something unholy going on there. That child got away with anything and everything.

Is Fora actually a real term?

[1] And such is part and parcel of this human thing we call communication. Like in every other venue I've been in, one earns the ability to deliver such statements by demonstrating level-headedness first. Had it not been a generally level-headed forum I still would not have been able to do things like that. One thing you learn as a communicator is that you have to first make the audience receptive to what you are going to say. Know your audience.

[2] I know full well that thereare many people EVERYWHERE that cannot engage in a conversation like that.

[3] When you have a level-headed admin, it doesn't matter how close they are.

You on the other hand, Printesa have been more than a bit careless with your manner of communicating which is why a lot of people get mad at you. It's not in what you say that gets them, but how you say it, I say this not as an SLU regular but as a professional communicator and lecturer.

Every forum has its own personality, so what fits for one may not be right for another. I've found the other place to be very welcoming and I am one of the mot clueless, nooby, non-cool-kid persons around. As with any forum, there are unwritten rules of etiquette there, but not many and people are forgiving toward someone with good intentions.

But any forum would not welcome a person who posts with the intended purpose to troll in a thread devoted to a highly emotional topic as the OP did there. As for banning, the admin there uses the banbat less than any one I have seen. But ultimately it is his forum - he pays the bills, puts up with whining and complaints, and it is his decision to make. I like the moderation there quite a bit. But like any other aspect of a forum, the option to leave is always available if one does not.

There's a word for complaining about your own privacy being violated, and then turning around and doing the same thing to someone else...

i was threatened with a ban in my first weeks at slu for repeatedly asking j.n. to 'answer the question please'. there was never any opportunity to 'earn the ability', and there are a few that certainly never earned anything from me, yet i never felt a pressing need to constantly call them names and derail their conversations with personal attacks.
over the road it isnt so much what is said as who it is saying it.

You and I were both unknowns to SLU at one point. Opportunity begins when you first step inside. We had the same beginning (0 posts), we use the same keyboard. What we do with that beginning and that keyboard is our choice.

I don't know what it was you were asking JN but the "repeatedly" part would indicate it was a question he did not want to answer. Pressing was not a good idea.

Quite frankly, both forums are fairly evenly matched for "average IQ significantly lower than here. Also, significantly lower than lettuce."

SLU is more cliquey and has more unwritten rules, but at least the moderator will actually ban people who are total asstards, unlike this one where they are allowed to fester for years (and I'm not referring to you, Conan.)

Just like in RL, if you walk in the door looking for a fight, you are likely to find one. Just sayin......

no, j.n. and i were already acquainted at sc. he brought his beef with me to slu when i arrived and exploited his relationship with the admin to get me banned right off the bat.
and it was a debate. failure to press the question (which was a response to a typical 'youre a fool' comment) would have been letting him off the hook.
