Damn. I'm actually considering taking Pep off my ignore list. :)

That is a paradox Lindal . . .

Jig- honestly- if women were dominant suddenly, it would not feel right. Yes things are individual - how one feels at a given time. But honestly, the world is far better off with less Alan Alda and more John Wayne- just my opinion of course. A woman who enjoys very much her place in the world. And I am no floor rag mind you- I have a mind and a damn strong character - I just much more prefer the hand nature dealt me - your mileage may differ.

An attitude more and more to be found, at least in my little corner of the world.

The whole feminist movement did not only confuse men, but also a lot of women. And the way I see it around me, more and more women long back to the strong type of men. Gallant and dominant. Not sitting in the chair yelling for a beer, but neither half female.

On topic: in SL I would not consider playing a female, though they can look hot. But I am who I am, in SL and in RL. And that is a man.

Not a paradox at all, my dear Pep. There is a "View Post" button right there next to each and every piece of irritating drivel you write. If I choose, I can peek...as I did for this one.

OK...back in the box for you then. But if you keep saying nice things, I might peek more often.

/me looks back over his recent posts to find one that might be mistakenly considered "nice" . . . so he might delete it

I'll grant you, women do dominate in certain areas, such as ironing, vacumming, having babies and looking good in sexy underpants. But beyond that they are still pretty uselss and the only result of all that Bra burning in the 60's was the destruction of the ozone layer.

/me ducks

/me whops you upside the head with her iron, sucks your tie into her vacuum until your face is abraded by the brushes, leaves you with the baby and goes off indignantly to look good in sexy underpants for someone who will, by damn, APPRECIATE it.

Going back to the original assumptions that women are the dominante sex, I have to say there are fewer "men" than ever. I know I am a far cry from your typical he-man knuckle-dragger, but I do like to think I am a man. I feel more in common with Bogart than DeCaprio, that for sure.

Thank God! That's not a man- it's a baby boy in makeup.

Edited to add- I don't give a flying damn why men would choose to play women, or women to play men- it is outside my ken, but if it makes them happy. Just not my choice, but live and let live.

But I'm like you. I try not to think too deeply about why someone chooses the av they wear. If it makes them happy, good on 'em.

No, no, no. Men know that that is the common perception. So men who want to have female avatars now go for the girl-next-door look to fool you. Now the "overexaggerated assets" are really women who want you to think they're men who are trying to pass as women. Of course...because that is the case, if a man really wants to make you believe he is a woman, then he'll "overexagerate" to get you to think that no man would be that blatant, so it must be a real woman pretending to be a man using a female avatar.

It's complicated, but try to keep up. ;)

head...hurts...:p

edit: ohh...like in "The Princess Bride." I'm all better now.

I think projection is a huge factor in this online stuff.

It's both positive and negative. One can project what one wants to see about other people (sometimes bad). One can project a better image of who they want to be themselves (sometimes good).

But in the end, so much of this has merely to do with how we look at the world, and ourselves. And seriously, if you can't consider the possibility that a person might not match their avatar - that's really an utter lack of critical thinking skills, and letting projection overwhelm your senses. In a bad way.

Pitting males against females, gender against gender, gay against straight - all these things just lead to more failure. Nobody succeeds long term by oppressing this group or that. We need to let humans overall win.

And this is why you're one of the SL successes. Well thought, well written.

I always thought one could spot male controlled female avatars because of their typically overexaggerated assets.

I find they fall into 3 categories

- men
- small breasted women who are overcompensating
- large breasted women who dig their big tits

No doubt, I missed a few categories. So, no, you don't learn much about a person from their av's tit size, except that they like to be noticed.
