I wondered if the men who become women in SL are expressing their dissatisfaction with men today in the real world - and wishing they were part of the new dominant sex - WOMAN.

Just because one's avatar is a woman doesn't mean one has BECOME a woman. My avatar is not me. It's simply the tool by which I interact with the SL world. And since it's the only thing that happens to be on the screen at all times, I prefer it to appear as something I enjoy looking at.
Further, in a world where anyone can look like a man one minute, a woman the next, and a cow, a space alien, or a robot right after that, how can you really say anyone "becomes" anything? The avatar is pixels, nothing more, nothing less. Judge people by how they act, what they do, and what they say, not by how they appear. |

although i am male, i prefer nowadays to interact in sl as a female. For one I don't have the emotional entanglement, which I have often fallen foul of as a male and there is no onus on me as a male to to allow myself to be hurt. Being a different sex in sl has nothing to do with rl and I don't think there is any disatisfaction with the male gender per se. Apart from that my female avi is far hotter and nicer than some of the females I have interacted with in sl.........sad I know but true...........

I wouldn't be surprised if at least some "guys-in-real-life" weren't transvestites or stymied transsexuals. It doesn't take much to realise SL is a marvellous playground for anyone wanting to take a walk on their wild side. Anonymity, cheap clothes that always fit, instant curves, relaxed sexual mores and no need to spend hours with shaving and make-up.
