From: Monalisa Robbiani What is actually happening?
There are two adults (gender doesn't matter) using a computer. The computer produces cartoon images. The act of using a PC in this way isn't forbidden in any country I know of since there are only consenting adults involved. It is the produced *images* that are banned in *some* countries, like Germany for example. They are not banned in other countries, like in the US. The laws of these countries regard the produced images as *pornography*, others don't. Child pornography is banned, so child av pornography is banned too. Since SL has huge amounts of European users they banned age play. IMHO it was a very reasonable decision. If I owned SL I would do the same.
It is really as simple as that. Indeed. Laws written by morons under the guise of protecting us from ourselves They do nothing to actually protect anyone. The ban on cartoon images means some people with no pedophile urges at all are now criminals for a joke cartoon someone sent them in an email... I love how folks holds up moronic laws on that as a good example of what should be done. All laws really do is set up punishments, they do nothing to prevent anything from happening I love how they are focused on SL... Why are they not going after the real images and videos hosted out there on the web.

From: Chris Norse If both are adults, yes. Do I want to see it? No. Do I want to take part in it? No.
If either of them attempt to commit the real thing, with an actual child, I am also in favor of a public hanging. Supposing the child's father didn't find them first. And, if you were a father with young children, would you want a man who regularly played at having sex with 'children' in SL, living next to you and your family. You would have no problem with that at all? Rock

Rock Until he makes an attempt to harm my daughter, then I feed him to the catfish. What he does inside his house at his computer with another consenting adult is none of my business. How about you? Would you want a man who treats women as if they were dogs to date your daughter?

Is this hypothetical, or fact? I've read of incidents almost as ludicrous as this, including sting operations run by the US postal service, but nothing quite that blatantly stupid. Rock: this is why people oppose making images and jokes illegal, because people's lives are being ruined by misapplications of these laws. That doesn't mean they support the action, or the creation of the images, but because they do not believe the inevitable cost is worth the alleged benefit. Should they hunt down and incarcerate the guy who posted this joke?

From: Rock Vacirca No question of your own personal morality here? No. I don't judge other people's sexual fantasies. I don't care about them. I don't want to see them. I don't care what other adult people like in bed. Unless they touch a real child, then I have some very strong opinions about them. I know that my opinion is quite un-European but that's the way I see it.

I think adults can r/p any sex they want.
Do you think you have the right to dictate to adults what they can fantasise about or do to each other sexually?
Do you think that only neighbors who r/p bdsm on the net are gonna get your kids?
You're on a posting roll, so look forward to your answers.

How about you? Would you want a man who treats women as if they were dogs to date your daughter? No. In fact, I would not want any man who had violent attitude problems towards women living anywhere near my family. Similarly, I would not want any man who took pleasure from sex with children, or who fantasized about it (having child porn under his bed, or on his SL computer screen) living within 10 light years of my family. I would have hoped that you would feel the same. Rock

I have already posted earlier on that case. At first glance, cartoons being banned appears over the top. But if the paedophile community, are at risk of jail from possessing child porn, they turn to the next best thing, and swap generated (non-real) images. Does that stop their mindset, their inclinnations, the danger to children, I think not. I think legislators are therefore right to ban all the material these sickos feed upon, give them no out whatsoever, and let them know quite clearly what the penalties are for possession of such material. I agree 100% with the judge when he said From: someone He said while the primary purpose of the legislation was to stop sexual exploitation and child abuse of "real" children, it was also designed to deter the production of other material that could "fuel demand for material that does involve the abuse of children". Rock Take it all away and guess what it doesn't stop them from having the urges Take away a way for them to fulfill the urges without harming a real person results in them being more dangerous. But that mean you would have things that disturb you out there to sate those urges before they turn into real violence... and can't have that.

Also here in Australia we are supposedly getting a governmental blanket filter over our net. Oz was so laid back, but it's taking a real nose dive atm.

From: Chris Norse But treating her as a lapdog is ok then? If you are referring back to Puppy, that has been explained at length, and she is NOT treated as a lapdog. If you are now down to just making stuff up, and have not got anything further of substance to add, I suggest you go troll another thread. Rock
