Hmm.. I get a video of Tim Minchin "I am farking Rock" which wasn't all that cool anyway and even less so if it turns into totally unrelated stuff in a different language. Ah. lol. Well, I can watch some Futball. ![]() _____________________

If the grid were 18+ there'd be some sort of age verification, rather than the current system that allows anyone with a hotmail address full access.

If the grid were 18+ there'd be some sort of age verification, rather than the current system that allows anyone with a hotmail address full access. there is age verification - TOS and the form you fill out (which is all that is mandated by law for porn sites and such). There is also the beta age verification system that exceeds the system needed You can grab the parent's driver's license and credit card and get past all of the systems out there _____________________

......... This part of the story disturbs me most of all: "It may have wanted to eat [the penguin] and half-way through the chase changed its mind," de Bruyn speculated. "I personally believe the link between aggressive and sexual behavior is evolutionarily far closer linked than we currently believe. This has obvious implications for humans." .......... "This has obvious implications for humans." Yeah! Like people starving to death because they are having to much sexorz. _____________________

An act of Congress against Midlife Crisis would work better.
So If kids want to come here and explore, then let them. I would rather see them here than being Brainwashed by the TV..or learning their social skills playing GTA and ... I want to know who the chick with the funky purple hair is... I want her. |

Umm...she's a Democratic senator from California and he's a Republican member of the House of Representatives from Illinois. Which area do they have in common exactly? edit: Oh! you mean Feinstein and Phil. Right - I was just suggesting that if Phil wanted to go purchase himself a senator, she would be a likely candidate because they are from the same area. She's a senator so it doesn't matter as much, but I think she's actually from the Bay Area in California. I wasn't really drawing a distinction between House and Senate or Democrat and Republican. When it comes to being able to be bought and sold like chattel, I don't think there is much of a distinction to be made. _____________________

My favourite from Fox so far is their "Hackers on Steroids" story, which was basically just about trolls making fun of people on YouTube. It featured stock footage of a van exploding, as if to suggest that the kids making fun of other kids on Youtube were threatening to make vans explode all over the place.
I like that they misspelled "polygamous". It always makes me trust what a news agency is saying when they can't spell properly. _____________________

My current favorite from Fox is the recent distressing story about the woman who barely managed to save her toddler as a coyote was dragging the youngster out of the front yard. I guess they didn't feel the story was sensational enough on it's own merits so they described the coyote as "bloodthirsty".

I guess they didn't feel the story was sensational enough on it's own merits so they described the coyote as "bloodthirsty". That story isn't funny at all! Now, if the coyote had succeeded in carrying off the child, that would be different. _____________________

You can't have everything. If I don't see a story in 10 years time entitled "Coyote Boy discovered; Child reared by coyotes", I'm going to be very disappointed. _____________________

Just FYI, I figured that since this is the "media" thread....
Time magazine has released an article regarding the creation of avatars as re: our self-images. Thought it was interesting. http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1739601,00.html?cnn=yes _____________________

The site that you are sent to if you click on the spam about making easy $$$ in SL? I liked the article, it was interesting. I'd like to see the full research results, though. Instead of snippets. _____________________

Cirian, you're mixing parental responsiblity with Linden Lab's responsibility. Sorry - it's the parent's responsibility: Period. Making ANY company responsible at all for keeping your children in line or keeping them off of adult sites and out of adult stores should fall to the parent. I have just recently become the father of a beautiful baby girl .... Guess what? I'm taking the high road and giving her one hell of a set of morals to abide by. In addition to monitoring her computer access when she is old enough to do so and locking out anything she is not ready to see. Suck it up parents .... quit shirking your responsibilities. |

LOL - you know, I was at work and we were discussing the responsibilities of gun/knife shops here in the US. Say a teenager (under 1
wants to buy a longknife (aka not just a pocket knife...) By law, a store isn't allowed to sell to the teen. But if his parents are standing with him in the line, he can hand his money to them, they can buy the knife, then as they're all walking out the door, they can hand him his change and his new knife. As long as the store hasn't PHYSICALLY SOLD the knife to the teen, the store is free and clear of anything that happens after that. Same thing applies to SL._____________________
