From: Roobus Newt ban lines suck! They just do... So do vaccine shots. My kitten especially objects to the distemper shots. But my kitten and I agree that distemper and rabies and diphteria and griefers and other obnoxious intruders suck by orders of magnitude worse. /me Starts helping kitten kick kitty litter.

From: Sling Trebuchet I really keep posting here so I can admire the creative uses of kittens I don't think they're having the desired effect.

From: Hugsy Penguin I've mentioned this before, but I'd actually like to have a Ban Line Draw Distance setting. Turn it down to zero when you don't want to see them at all. Turn it up when you're flying so you have a chance at seeing them from a distance so you can turn to avoid. --Hugsy Incrediably good suggestion! To some of the people who wanted to see them from farther away; SL History 101. SOme time ago ban lines were visible from MUCH farther than they are now. It was horrible. Some said ban lines ruin their ability to explore ... you will have to trust me when I say that when ban lines are visible from a distance, you don't WANT to explore ... all you see are ban lines.

From: Cherry Czervik Some people's posts, in no matter which guise, simply irritate. I doubt anyone will be offended by that outpouring in a thread which is pointlessly contentious and frankly pointless as this.
I'm waiting for the Forum to be cancelled and quite frankly as things are right now, I'd welcome that. Shame ... it has the potential to be such a valuable resource. No worries. We just have to start looking for more heavily-used kitty litter for covering up the trollers.

From: Sling Trebuchet Was this with or without the use of a security orb?
If 'without', then the test doesn't mean much, although it is anecdotally interesting. Without, and I don't see why the lack of a security orb makes any difference? A security orb would need to be set to 96m to adequately cover the area. That means it would actually extend well above the 50m AGL that my access restriction does and it would be more intrusive, less responsive and add script lag to the sim. As far as neighbours are concerned: they're all on my access list and I'm on theirs for both sims and noone's house is even within chat distance of the other's border so view is not a problem for anyone visitors either. Noone's interested in keeping other occupants out, just the random people passing by and imposing.

From: Oryx Tempel Strife!!! Where are you? We need a Strife-signal... a big backlit cabbit in the sky... Many moons ago I was at an art event, and noticed Strife dancing - A lion avatar! When Strife closes this thread, it will be a Ban Lion?

You can get a good basic security system for only L$1 at: Black Box Security, Power Products Inc., Abydos (71, 139, 27) It does not however work on group land.

I use Hippo-secure myself. Also, my land is no fly. No object entry. So if you managed to fly in....I'll be using the shiny anti-aircraft gun I bought
And if me porting you to home in 5 seconds makes me a redneck (as somebody so eloquently put earlier) in order to keep my private home private....Well I'm okay with that.

This thread is our "scapegoat" we are pouring all of our ill feelings, anger and fears onto it, before we drive it into the desert. Then the Forums will have a year of peace and joy. Hmmm now that I think about it, this thread is like the "Curse of the Thorn" from the Halloween movies. It will come back as unstoppable killing machine. Oh well one or the other.

Warning and then moving the avatar outside your boundaries is keeping your home private. Porting the avatar home is griefy, redneck, over-the-top - or alternatively displays a lack of thought about the appropriateness.

It's mostly centered around my house. You have 5 seconds. this is after countless times finding some moron using my bed, furniture, and other crap. Or the one time I had 5 lovely french folk announce they were moving in. So once again, my private land, paid for with my own money, on a private island (Not mainland), my call.

(My kitten agrees completely. Cats are quite territorial, you know.)

From: Dancien Graves The difference is, I don't give a sh*t. Really. Which is precisely the attitude of the ad-farmer and the land-bot runner. You had problems before you installed security. The security system warns people, whether they be up to no good or innocently flying through. Sometimes, especially in lag, it can be difficult for an innocent overflyer to determine where exactly is "out". Moving them out and "You are now out. Thank you and have a nice day" is appropriate. A war of retribution by proxy for issues you had in the past is not appropriate.
