Yep.
Make a group and get your friend to join it Can call it anything you like so long as it's not taken already and/or not offensive. Then you can make custom titles. |

Sandy, right click your avie or select the left most tab in the comms window and select groups. Click on 'none' and apply.
You can get a titler to add your own text above you or create your own group and title for that matter ![]() _____________________

Ahhhhh I get it! So it's something that you wear! Like a hat! That makes more sense now. Suddenly the world is crystal clear! Now I can't WAIT to get home! And ring my friend and tell him. Another stupid question (I hope you don't mind me using this thread - it's hardly a social no-no) I typed the name of a band that I like into search and it came up with a club which I joined. Now I walk round with 'Counting Crows fan' above my head all the time. Whilst I'm not embarrassed to be a Counting Crows fan, I feel a bit odd announcing it to the world continuously. Is there a way to change it to something that you want like. "New Guy - Please Forgive Him" or something? Hi again Sandy ![]() This title in your name tag is the title you have in your "active group". To change it you need to go to "edit", then "groups". Or click on yourself and choose groups. Then click on the group you want to activate or choose "none" to have no title at all. If you want to shout a custom message to the world you need a wearable titler, which I'll throw at you inworld. You can use that to say anything you like as hovering text above yur name tag. Give me a shout if you need explaining how to use it. Sally ![]() _____________________

You're becoming my own personal fountain of knowledge! I've just bought my first currency and I have L$583. If you were me, brand new to the world and cash in your pocket for the first time - what would you buy? |

Is there a way to change it to something that you want like. "New Guy - Please Forgive Him" or something? Right-click on yourself>Groups>highlight 'none'>Activate>Close OR Ctrl-P>General>Hide My Group Title>OK if you never want them to show. To be able to set your own, you'd need to start a group (two people or more) or join the group of a friend who would be willing to do a custom title for you. _____________________

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things. Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut. |

You could also put your money on Brenda's advice, but I'm pretty sure her shoes won't fit you. ![]() _____________________

It can and that always makes me very very sad when I see it happening. I have been told on various occasions that people would like to post here but are scared of being pounced on for their opinions. Such a shame - especially as the people who are terribly terribly negative here are the most visible ones amongst the people having a bit of a giggle. Perhaps they should try something called Second Life! LOL True. I think we can all do a little better in welcoming new people. We've had s everal new people who are turning out to be delightful posters, i'd hate to think we are losing more. But, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'd encourage them to give it a try, maybe with a few pointers on where potential landmines might be. _____________________

That gets you walking about SL in good shape.Prices have changed and stuff...but i friend just told me they reckoned about 2000lin to take a new AV up to a really good standard....I'm sure others here will know better..especially the women ![]() |

I actually toyed with the built in sliders for quite awhile, to see what they would do, getting a look I wanted. But Almost all the freebie shoes I collected just wouldn't do, so it was literally the first thing I bought, a pair a basic black pumps. _____________________

If Your World and Your Imagination is just making SL like RL then why not spend the time making RL a better place? I get tired of being bitched at by people because "West USA" and "mid 20's" is not a good enough answer for them and this is happening a hell of a lot more lately. Until about a year ago no one ever got mad over me not telling my details. Feel free to look at my Profile under 1st life tab. That info is not satisfactory to many anymore. They get all pissy when I tell them that is as close as they are going to get. I tell them if they want more specific details about people then go sign up at adult friend finder. But hey, that costs money. Can't get a cheap date that way right?..... SL has really gone down hill from a RP point of view. To bad really. Not much creativity anymore. Sorry people do not just accept "West USA" and "mid 20's" any longer. You shouldn't be forced to tell more than you wish to tell; or yelled at when you do not allow yourself to be forced. _____________________

Where would I find a skin shop? Do I just search under skin shop? By the way, I appreciate I could probably suss all this out on my own but ...... well it's just much more fun speaking to you lot!! I'm sitting here chuckling away to myself which I wouldn't be doing otherwise. |

My alt found a reasonable free AO on a walkabout recently. I haven't seen a guys freebie AO though yet. Sheesh, you could blow the 500 on a decent hair alone Sandy. I'd probably rank skin as a pretty high priority but you won't get hair and skin for what you have atm. added: Here I think we get to one of the gender problems in SL. Stacks of 'components' for girls, some of the nice ones being free if you search deep enough. Guys things take more looking and I think invariably less decent freebies ![]() _____________________

Yeah it's a pain in the bum, because I paid a quarterly fee at $22.50 I was only allowed to buy $2.50 worth of L$ for my first month!!! That's assuming I've understood the blurb on the website correctly. Hence me wandering around at the moment looking like an extra from Futurama! |

You'll want to replace your "friends" freebie one eventually with an excite one..and a lot of skins give you an exact colour match you can use. I've seen skins for 400lin...your search will find them...but if you can go for top quality right away...could be 4000lin for the skin alone though |

Definitely skin, hair and some nice clothes. And a walk replacer.
Then tweak your shape to get it just so. That's about spending time rather than money, bit it's the most important thing of the lot imo. The rest, the jewellery and stuff, can come later. Oh and get a dancing cow. You've got to have a dancing cow. No question. They're free too. |

I do not have one, sadly, to send along. One of the LM's in that kit will take you to a place that has a free "Jack in a Box" which should have some skin and the like in it. Just basic stuff to help you along the way. _____________________

Thanks Brian! You're becoming my own personal fountain of knowledge! I've just bought my first currency and I have L$583. If you were me, brand new to the world and cash in your pocket for the first time - what would you buy? You can get an excellent free skin at Tete A Pied at the Nouveau sim. It's the best quality free skin for females on the grid. You can get a free set of hair styles from Six Kennedy at Gurl6. You can get low priced or free hair plus some clothing of great quality from ETD, Elikapeka Tiramisu Designs or from Calla Hair. You can get a beautiful skin for L$250 at PixelSpa (which comes with a free Animation Overrider--AO), plus lots of free clothing of the highest quality at PixelDolls and Last Call. To find more free stuff for guys and ladies, watch this blog http://fabfree.wordpress.com/ The blogger, Cherlindrea, keeps an eye on new freebies released around the grid and blogs them, which is an excellent service for newbies and oldbies alike. |
