Mmmhmm...and that sort of sums up the earlier "is it a chat room or RP debate" for me.
Its what ever you want it to be but often its both i think?
We have people we know who just want it to be complete RP, which is great, and often an inner sanctum of friends who know much more about the real you and thats also great.
If i'm in a RP sim i'm clearly not "me"...if i'm chatting to a couple of old and trusted friends..its 100% me...sharing and having a giggle.
What a wonderful place..just needs a bit of give and take.

And your later post too Brian, what you want of SL can change as quickly as the landscape around you. You might not even be looking for your next new friend. The unpredictability to me is one of its biggest pulls. It keeps me from hours of brain-sucking TV too!!

Right ok ...... errr ..... I've got this ....er ..... friend who doesn't know where his appendage is. Can somebody tell me .. .er.. .... my friend how to find an appendage.

He was in a shopping centre last night and stumbled across a box on the floor offering a Free Appendage. He picked it up obviously, not wanting to offend, but still can't attach. He obviously doesn't feel like a proper man without it. More like ...... a GI Joe.

Just so if you can stay open minded...its huge fun. I just get about and see who i bump into. I've never really had any problem with anyone. Out and out RP'rs or people who are clearly using it as a dating agency...and everything in between...its the diversity i love.

Your ... erm .... friend ... might try rezzing the box on the ground and then he might try opening the box and transfering the ...erm ... contents to his inventory. Then when your ...er .. friend .. needs said 'contents' he might try right clicking on said contents in his inventory and then choosing 'wear'. But do tell your ...erm ... friend that he shoudn't try this at any public venues.

This is one thing you should definitely try at home

Oh....and rename the appendage Sand...i mean my friends appendage or something recognisable. It'll save your friend endless fumbling in inventory when speed is of the essence

oh and ... erm..... one little bit of advice for ´your friend´ on the ... erm ..... appendage issue..... from what I´ve read in this forum .... it is apparently highly recommended that it ´matches´

And you know what?...If i see someone in bondage ropes say..i'll ask them if i can cut a bit off as my belts broken. Or stumble into an escort place with dark glasses and a white stick and ask if its the library. Me and my friend Viv went out in hypno goggles and white canes once, to xcite, looking for the church .. it was very very funny, very few people got what we were doing (and we only spoke to each other unless spoken to). I still have the notecard. Someone decided they were going to try to collar me via IM (poor chap was very deluded).

Hehehe Yeah!!...its sort of gently provoking a reaction in a funny way. And the way people react just shows..i think....that the vast majority of people in SL know how to have a laugh at themselves. If you only read the forums you'd maybe get the wrong impression?...they can get pretty venomous at times

It can and that always makes me very very sad when I see it happening.

I have been told on various occasions that people would like to post here but are scared of being pounced on for their opinions. Such a shame - especially as the people who are terribly terribly negative here are the most visible ones amongst the people having a bit of a giggle.

Another stupid question (I hope you don't mind me using this thread - it's hardly a social no-no) I typed the name of a band that I like into search and it came up with a club which I joined. Now I walk round with 'Counting Crows fan' above my head all the time. Whilst I'm not embarrassed to be a Counting Crows fan, I feel a bit odd announcing it to the world continuously. Is there a way to change it to something that you want like. "New Guy - Please Forgive Him" or something?
