From: Chip Midnight The fact that english isn't their native language couldn't possibly have had anything to do with it ya think? Sure, it could have, but actually it would make the situation worse if we accept that as an excuse - the German sign clearly says "no furries", while the English sign does not. So it's not like their poor English accidentally made them only target one group.

From: Jillian Callahan Had everyone just hushed, these positive things would not have happened. Pages and pages back, it was suggested that a calm note appealing to the owners would have worked well. Seeing how the builders showed reason and even some sympathy, it is more than likely that this could have been done without all the histrionics and hatefulness thrown at the church. So NO, I don't believe that these positive things could have come about if everyone "hushed." What we would have been spared is the ugliness of hate thrown at the church, calling them biased when there was none.

Protests involving a lot of passionate people sometimes drives home a point that gets marginalized when presented impersonally via a letter.

You did not address the point, and are just a pot-stirrer. The point is that the calm and mature route was displayed by THEM. Wasn't it said back about respect being earned? Guess who earned their respect. Psst. It's not the drama queens.

People go out of their way to take offense where none is warranted. I really don't think it would have been warranted even if they did mean to single out furries. It's not like a church not wanting bipedal animals wandering around would be that far out of a request, and if I were a newcomer to SL I certainly wouldn't have had a clue that there are people who so fiercely cling to their non-human avatar identity. I'd have assumed that asking people not to wear animal avs would be no more unreasonable than asking people to remove their hats. I wouldn't really call this a great day for furry public relations.

Pardon that pun but that sim owner is a saint and he has my respect and I truly wish that they had done it quietly because i'm 99% sure that they would have gotten the same result only it would have been a whole lot less traumatic for him and I would have been able to go visit the sim because everytime i tried this weekend it was too full to let me in..

Speculation on how things would have been "if only" rather pales in the face of real results from the chosen method.

From: Wilhelm Neumann do you think that possibly she could have come to this solution without the thread and posting and calling in of people to protest and stuff? I do he seems like he was a reasonable fellow and perhaps to reasonable. and in going the route of not posting his sim would not have been clogged up and no one would have crashed it I'm sorry you dont understand this concept of quietly dealing with what you think is an issue but if he was a reasonable person which it sounded like he was then no posts were needed If after contacting him quietly they got no results then other methods would have made more sense See where I come from you dont escalate it first and then try the quiet method. You try the quiet method and least disruptive method first and then take your "causes" up a notch and get more and more vocal about it and not do it backwards and just go BOOM and then try to negotiate but we will never know will we because they didn't try this first not from what has been revealed here they just pounced which is a very bad way to do this kind of stuff in sl or in real world 1) The LANDOWNER requested the thread. For whatever reasons. If you have a desire to know, then ask him. Otherwise, I'd think you'd respect his choice as you ahve asked a lot of others to do. 2) And as you have not even looked beyond this thread into the matter, how would you know what has, and has not been done quietly in the past? All in all, it WAS a peaceful conclusion. The only "violent" part came fro griefers dropping the sim, and who knows which side those idiots were on, or if they were just griefing to grief. I fyou figure out griefers, let us know, 'kay? So if you truely respected the landowner's rights to do as he pleased, you would respect his wishes to have aired it in the manner in which he did. Otherwise, you're just arguing for the sake of arguing like Rei, though at least Rei admits it ^.~ ~Jessy

From: Jillian Callahan Speculation on how things would have been "if only" rather pales in the face of real results from the chosen method. you just wanting to assume he is evil dont you? they didn't even bother to contact them. He initiated contact even though it was not his issue it was their issue. I"M boggled at this shoot first and ask questions after way of thinking. 1 point for the guy with the lagged out cathedral sim 0 for the furries on this one plus he turned of scripting so that english people could participate at a request on top of it and took a risk which crashed him *feels his head for horns* nope he's not the devil just a guy with a replica of a cathedral who was beyond understanding in a very difficult situation

~Jessy she changed her original post again and removed the call for protesters and the link to the sim i call fowl and monkey business on this and i'm whatever you want me to be I read her post i didn't see any landowner request now apparetnly the problem was solved before she posted this thread I have no idea what just happened other then someone wanted to cause trouble. Looks lke people were looking for entertainment value and this thread should not have been posted so far her initial post according to what others are saying has been editied a grand total of 3 times and not just for spelling or grammar but to change huge chunks of detail to make the post look different that's shinanigans and this is a bunch of BS stiring up a bunch of crap and causing trouble and I will believe the land owner called for this thread when pigs fly!

~Jessy see you have fun sim owner was a nice guy they got their way and would have done so without the posting of what amounts to a flamebait thread on this forum.

sim owner was a nice guy they got their way and would have done so without the posting of what amounts to a flamebait thread on this forum. As Jillian said, it's very easy for you to sit here, now, after the fact, and swear up and down that the exact same thing would have happened had this thread not existed, had there been no protest, etc - but unless you are the sim owner in question, you have no way of knowing that. You are speculating as much as you accuse the other side of speculating.

From: Monalisa Robbiani LOL It was a call for a discussion and I removed it because the issue is solved for the time being. I would believe you but you keep changing your original post plus this is making less and less sense with every detail revealed. Well this was good weekend drama and that's about it. I doubt there ever really was a problem at this point and just people trying to start something on a forum and post flamebait.

Now who's changing posts *Smirks* Nice. The only "flamebait" I see comes mainly from you. Don't like my opinion? Oh well, I'm entitled to it ^.~ What I don't get is why you're so full of angst when everyone else has come to a peaceful solution. Simowner happy, furries happy. Could it have been done better? Undoubtably. Hindsight 20/20 and all that. And I did read what you said, but I'm afraid I don't see any logic in it. May be just me, but I think if you'd calm down and re-read what you posted, you might feel differently as well. For the record, I never changed a word of your posts, nor added anythign to them. I did clip pieces (some were quite long), but that quote above to "quote" me with words I never spoke/typed is unethical and uncalled for. *shrugs* Hope you find a little peace somewhere Wilhelm. ~Jessy

From: Chip Midnight You're asserting things you can't possibly know. It seems more likely that the English sign was created later after they became aware that the German one gave the wrong impression and created confusion. Now that it's been clarified, why perpetuate the persecution angle? It really seems people would rather be offended than reasonable, and would rather play the victim than extend the benefit of the doubt, even after the owners have been so gracious. People go out of their way to take offense where none is warranted. I don't think its so much going out of their way to take offense as they have gotten used to the offense being very real and have gotten used to assuming anything that appears to be intended to offend is. And I'm not asserting anything - I'm just saying that in this case, the "It's not their native language" ploy doesn't wash, because the offending part WAS in their native language.

*shrugs* Hope you find a little peace somewhere Wilhelm. ~Jessy I change posts because my typing sucks but the meaning and details never change ever. I have peace i think your a bunch of crackpots i truly do lol. I've lost a lot of respect for the furry community and the only reason why im busy posting to this thread is over a morbid fascination with people who simply choose to take these reactive crazy routes of dealing with things instead of simply just contacting the guy and doing what they could have done in the first place and insist on playing the role of the victim. Also your pretty active on this thread to in fact you get more an more active as time goes by Here is the thing see I find this incredibly funny and sad at the same time. That people feel they need to be so vocal about their cause and just cant go and talk to the guy first. Anyhow have fun i'm sure you are but honestly i haven't had to wipe the spittle off my screen from laughing so much at people in a long time. I truly find this funny how people who say they are so reasonable take the unreasonable path to solving a problem and claim that it was the only path to take and then expect some kind of respect for their lack of judgement on matters.
