From: Bradley Bracken I didn't realize that's what you were getting at. I have repeatedly argued in other threads that there should be no basic memberships, though that opinion is changing. ** I really hope that we don't start that debate again here ** Your tone came across to me as rather draconian and I thought you were implying that if people didn't have purchases in their inventory they they should be instantly eliminated. No that is not it either, I am all with giving people a chance to try second life but there should be more privleges to paying money to play. What Linden Labs gives is not enough, oh my inventory is around 6500. So much of it is no mod, no copy and no transfer. To get my inventory down would mean to delete items paid for and why should I do that? To help people who have paid no money I am suppose to lose it? I say No to this.

From: Raymond Figtree Awesome. I can now go down in history as the avatar that started the misguided thread that destroyed SL.
FFS, all I did was suggest people delete 10 items a day. If that's enough to cause real damage then what the hell am I putting time and money into this platform for? I do PM (Preventive Maintenance) on a regular basis and keep my inventory around 4000 items. and as Colette added, not many people really read these forums so I wouldn't worry too much about destroying SL Ray. But if this is true, perhaps LL could instigate some sort of "rollling inventory clean-up" by sending drop down notifications to selected people. Perhaps they could pick a group of people (maybe by last name) and send all of them a message notifying them of this issue. And after a few days, send another notification to another group of people. Sure, not everyone will read the note, but some will...maybe most. But at least the information will get out to everyone at some point. And this could be done every 6 months as a reminder to existing people, and as a "heads-up" to new people.

From: Raymond Figtree TY for the LOL.
Perhaps that laugh means there is a possibility I can regain my sense of humor. I will try clearing my cache and logging off for 72 hours. Maybe when I come back, it will be in my lost and found folder.
One thing's for sure: I ain't starting any more threads. Go take a walkabout, Figgie. When you come back, you'll be OK. Even if you don't come back, you'll be OK.

I am planning an inventory party for a few friends - sort of a girly evening in, so we can rez and wear inv items, get a group consensus and then delete or file away properly. It will be much more fun to do this in a group than do it sat in your house along, or at the bottom of the sea. I have about 7.8k in my inv, and it does need a damn good clean up, and I am sure I have bought stuff and forgotten about it, or forgotten about good stuff that I haven't worn for a while. We think it will take a few sessions to get it all under control, but we can have a laugh at some of the more hideous impulse buys, and also get a nasty, but necessary job out of the way. I'll set up some pose stands in my beach's chill tiki area, and we can all lounge about and give the thumbs up or down as appropriate! If anyone fancies coming along, give me a shout

Congratulations and shame on you. you are a slut in the very best possible meaning of the word!

I doubt you'll really get very far in your inventory with all of you having a hoot over some of the ugly stuff you've picked up. On the other hand, it sounds like a helluva lot of fun. GREAT IDEA

Woo hoo, I'm down to 4900. If I sit around and box up all my textures and keep the boxes inworld at my workshop I can probably peel it down to 4400. TP is much quicker, I've noticed. My alt has about 1100 items in her inventory and she zips around like nobody's business... it's great.
One thing's for sure: My inventory is MUCH more well organized now.
Didn't someone mention a yard sale?

I'd like to turn out for the inventory reduction party even if it's just for entertainment value. I have no ability to force myself to take care of things like this on my own.
I got on last night with every intention of reducing inventory. The good intentions lasted for less time than it took me to fully rez on login and I ended up at the hangout having a great time flying around, then there were some new pictures to apply my highly scientific rating system to, I had a nice chat with a few folks from the forums here, then a friend came on and we hung out, then, then, then...
Dang! I just realized what a great time I had last night and I didn't accomplish anything.
Dang ol' SL. Who has time for inventory control? I have to do chores in RL; I should get to skip them in SL.

From: Trout Recreant then there were some new pictures to apply my highly scientific rating system to Rate this: But probably not this: Damn it, guys, I just eliminated 1000 items from my inventory last weekend! I don't think I'm up to going through it again right now...why couldn't someone have thought of this sooner!

I'll ignore the second shot. The first one moves you out of the realm of fantasy girl next door to Super Hot Girl That's Way Out Of My League (SHGTWOOML). If you had given me that one earlier it would have been worth a full point on your slut rating. That pose combined with the peek-a-boo top that almost reveals a little more than you intend - dirty and hot.
What did I rate you at last? Add a point to that.
In all seriousness, I agree with Elora. That first shot is beautifully done. I'd rate it with the ones that I have seen that look as though they were done by professionals. I've received some real standouts since people started sending them to me. Carli's, Lexxi's and Joaz' spring to mind - in terms of lighting, composition, etc.

I agree with all the comments about the first pic. It's gorgeous. It's what LL should have on their homepage instead of those poorly done pics they do have.
Oryx has inspired me to get my inventory down below 5,000. I'm at 5,084 and it looks like the only thing left to do is go through and clean out my animations. I'm sure over half of them can go but I've put it off because it will be sooooooooooo boring. Thanks alot Oryx!

I tried a bit last night. I got rid of some photos, and most freebie clothes, and useless landmarks and notecards. I went to my shoes folder and after a long few moments of trembling and nausea, I deleted a pair of shoes I've never worn. I then cried for 20 minutes, logged off and went to bed.

I have close to 20k in items. Half of that are textures. There really needs to be better way to deal with objects and stuff in one's inventory. They do have UUID numbers on everything there could be a way to to track items that you recieved, created with that specific UUID number if they programed it. Example I got item A it has UUID number 0101A there would be place I could store it off world and when I needed it make item A active. Or if item A was being used on my land it would become land active. If I wanted to store my favorite UUID numbers be it textures or objects I could have special file cabinet with numbers and images of the UUID numbers in question that I could access from my lands file cabinet. I use this system similar with file cabinets for textures and my creations but my friend said the land asset server can get as boinked as the inventory server. Some things I may want to use later to study for designs or if I want a premade item. Someone spent the time to make some of these items and worth having, some aren't. Personally I hate no copy items because I can't make back stored items of this yet copyable items can get annoying too. I prefer how it feels with my alt accounts have under 5k its easier to find things but somethings I don't want to part with either.

What ever happened to my rating ??? I sent you L$10,000 in a used brown paper bag along with several very specific items of clothing as your notecard instructed. Why do I get the feeling I've been shuffled to the back of your chaotic inventory Oh and while I was waiting I reduced my inventory to a svete 4200 items

From: Raymond Figtree Folks, we have a smoking asset server that is overloaded, leading to permanent loss of our no copy items, leading to a loss in consumer purchases, leading to a depression, leading to creators selling their land and leaving, leading to the end of SL. This small act just might save the world. Suggestions for other things to delete are welcome. As are comments derailing this thread. I'm gonna pay to build their world, pay to use "my" land and trash up my object to save their PCs? I don't think so. Loss of consumers and inventory is problem of those who is making cute bucks.

From: Trout Recreant I'll ignore the second shot. Aw, but it made me laugh so hard! What was really funny was that the bed behind me had the Bits and Bobs 'Lovescene' pose balls on it. From: someone If you had given me that one earlier it would have been worth a full point on your slut rating. But, but...I only took it last night. *quivers lower lip* Thanks to everyone for your kind words. Really, though, all I did was sit down and find an angle I liked...it was someone else's set design, a balcony on the creepy house in Stormwind.
