Women are not raped for what they are wearing, seldom if ever are they raped for sexual reasons. Thats where your so wrong and will continue to be wrong because you thing WE are hard headed. I'm not sure of your sexual tastes but I wish you could date a man for awhile to really see what hard headed means.

Skewed again.

You women can be so damn blind. It's the real world out there you know...rapists don't care about diplomacy. They do what they do, and they don't care about your feelings.

Go ahead a live this existence guys...go right ahead. Pretend life isn't rough and tumble...

Go ahead...pretend that dressing a certain way doesn't influence what happens to you. Go ahead...pretend.

Go ahead, get mad at a forum poster, and call him a pig for being honest about this sometimes horribly cruel world. Go ahead.

It won't change the fact that I'm right. That the way a woman dresses can SOMETIMES create situations that normally wouldn't be there had they dressed differently. Go ahead and pretend that that suggestively dressed girl that went into the back room of the party with a stranger wasn't inviting trouble...

Go ahead. Hate me for this...if you must. Use me as the punching bag. I'm sorry I make some of you see through a clearer looking-glass. I didn't make these things so. I wish things were different...but they aren't.

And stop skewing what I say, just to make me even MORE the villain. I never said that ALL women that dress a certain way are 'asking for it.' I think I've made that clear. Just stop looking for reasons to be mean to me...I stand by my opinions. NOne of this was my point by the way...I was talking about RL photos online causing more or less stalking...that's all I was on about. You guys turned this around on me...made me the villain.

Your clarifications really help.

Now I know for sure you knew what you were doing when you used the term "asking for it"

You injected rape into this discussion.

You are a sexist pig.

using the term "ASKING FOR IT" referring to stalkers

automatically infers a rape parallel.

you are stupid if you think otherwise.

Cunumdrum brought it up directly and you basically reinforced the parallel to the effect that some women are asking for it with how they dress also.

I'm stupid eh? Nice. Classy. You are the biggest hypocrite...as bad as J*** in the other forums. You two should get together and go bowling.

The term 'asking for it' doesn't necessarily refer to rape. 'Asking for trouble'...you've never heard that before? Asking for trouble doesn't necessarily mean rape. That's ludicrous to say that...and it's ludicrous to imply that's what I meant.

You're wrong Colette. Deal with it.

I guess you didn't get my reasoning--which is, people don't look at other people just because they want to get intimate with them. Which is what you are saying. People look at other people because that's a huge part of life. A face says a thousand words. The eyes are the windows to the soul...a face isn't just to gather whether I want to screw you. I mean come on...it's odd that you even think of a 'face' that way.

Michael, this time you're the one eluding to something that wasn't said. I never even mentioned the word face in my post. I also don't necessarily believe that people only look at people because they want to be intimate. You're correct, eyes are the windows to the soul. However, in a virtual world, where your avatar can be anyone or anything, why should people be concerned with RL appearance unless they do want to get more intimately involved? That was my point.

I do get your reasoning....as it pertains to RL.....but SL isn't RL. That's the bottom line to me. They're NOT one and the same. I simply don't see any reason to exchange RL pics with someone on SL. 'I won't show you mine, and don't want to see yours'...my SL motto right here.

Besides, my husband would definitely frown on the fact that I was passing my RL pic around SL. Because regardless of how you (Michael) feel about the topic of seeing a person's RL self, a lot of people in SL are only interested in seeing the RL self if they're interested in becoming more romantically involved. Note: I did not say everyone....did not say most people....I said a lot of people.

As far as your previous use of stalked people "usually" asking for it. I think you do get that you did say it, even if only once, and you also expounded on it in another post while trying to make a point with Colette. The bottom line is.......not too many people ask to be the victim of a crime....any crime, no matter how they dress and act.

True be told, I've gotten several pictures of women but it wasn't their face that was on it. On Cams too.

Yes, I've gotten face ones also.

If you keep having to defend yourself that others aren't getting what your saying, maybe you need to look at what your saying or at least how your saying it.

No matter how big a magnet a woman uses a man ALWAYS has the ability to resist. Not so for a woman who normally is not as strong.

You didn't say asking for trouble at first

You said "Asking for it"

about stalkers.

I even quoted it twice.

You either knew what you were doing ---- or you are stupid.

Your further remarks do nothing but clarify your position that someone who is stalked or raped is partly to blame for what happened.

So ...

you either know what you are doing --- or you are stupid.

Michael, I know you think that you feel gang upped on but as I've told you before you really need to look at yourself here and in other threads. I mean this most sincerely. You can't control others. In any situation the only thing we can do is look at ourselves and see what we could have done to handle it better. I think it's time you start doing that. You can scream all you want that they are being unfair but that's not really going to do you much good, is it?

If you keep having to defend yourself that others aren't getting what your saying, maybe you need to look at what your saying or at least how your saying it.

You are only partially right. I don't start out belligerent...it doesn't matter how I say something, I find that there are certain people that always disagree with me...they find ways.

I'm not always abrasive. Don't make it sound like I am. Sometimes I take great care in what I say. Sometimes I'm very reserved...but it doesn't matter. I'm still a 'pig' to some people...aren't I?

Ahem, now that I have been disturbed by pages of rape and stalker talk, I would just like to say that this name has a real life photo which I used as an experiment for quite a few months. It has gone fairly well, but I have a new name which I am testing the waters of anonymity with although I use voice on both of my screen names.

Please don't stalk/rape me, but if you must, buy me a 2048 plot of land first. :D

Hmmm, OK, now granted Bigwig has a way of phrasing things that tends to rub people the wrong way, but I'm apparently not seeing what some of the rest of you are seeing in this particular series of posts. All I see him saying is that some behaviors are safer than others. If you leave your door unlocked and someone steals your TV, that's not really your fault, it's the criminal's who decided s/he was entitled. However, if you HAD locked the door and set the alarm, you probably would have been safer against home invasion.

Personally, I'd love it if I could take long walks alone at night, but I know can't. It's safer with a friend.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Just because someone appears to be asking for something, it doesn't mean you have to give it to them. Someone , by virtue of their behavior could be asking for a bash in the head...........

You can think about it, but just don't do it.

People are much more likely to be stalked OFFLINE than online. My whole point is, if it happens to you, it's either tough luck, or previous choices you made...

An online picture isn't going to increase your odds of being stalked

I agree.

I'm not wrong. That's not what I said. You guys are so blinded because of the sensitivity of the whole thing.

My meaning has always been, the way a woman dresses can influence situations, and it is best [they] make choices around these very real concepts...

If you guys can't understand that, I'm sorry.

Colette "You mean he wants to get raped?"

Look

It seems you want to go the Stupid route ..

When you use "Asking for it" about Stalkers, you make a parallel to rape.

WHY?????

Because here is a list of what some stalkers do

-harass
-spy on
-steal from
-assault
-rape
-kidnap
-murder

So OBVIOUSLY there is a connection.

A women's way of dress should never ever be assumed to be even possibly 'asking' for anything. If the rules allow and I decide to walk around naked, I am still not asking to have any unwanted advances that do not respect the word NO.

It is ALWAYS the raper's/stalker's fault, 100%, no matter any other conditions.

Until everyone firmly believes this, we will continue to have difficulty in ever really getting a handle on these type of crimes.

Michael, listen to Brad's advice... my first reaction to your 'asking for it' post was very negative and I wrote a reply that I thankfully did not post.

If what you were saying is that some people in SL are a little too trusting then I would agree with you. But implying that women that dress or act a certain way are responsible for being stalked or worse is naive or sexist... take your pick.

I'm sorry about saying "usually" It's not what I meant--and if some of you would read everything I'm saying, you wouldn't even bring that ONE thing up. Sheesh.

And about the face thing...I'm sorry I used that word too...confusing for you eh? Sorry. I mean a picture of people. You suggested that a RL picture in SL is only used to sexually attract someone...you totally suggested that, don't say you didn't. And that's what my initial reply to that was...that a picture of someone says a thousands words...a picture of someone can sometimes give a wonderful edge to a personality...a picture can say a thousand things...

That's what I meant. I'm sorry I used the word 'face' and confused the situation.

And it is rediculous to believe that a rapist is influenced by what their victom is wearing. I you believe this you should sit down and read the analysis on what makes a rapist tick. It's not about what their victoms are wearing, how they act or what they say; it's some glitch in their past usually that has skewed them into this alternate reality where they want to hurt women, teach them a lesson, belittle them, force them into some being to be beaten, raped, spit on......and killed if they have time.
