Reisuki and I will help Marianne McCann if her bid is accepted. But if we don't hear for sure that she has been accepted by Thursday morning, then I guess Fox and Ground Construction Company will sponsor building a giant sandcastle, to celebrate "The youthful creativity in Second Life". And if accepted, SL kids will be welcome to help build it!

Let's hope for door #1. But #2 is also a pretty sweet gesture. From: Ceera Murakami Reisuki and I will help Marianne McCann if her bid is accepted. ordinal and others
"Child avatars are welcome at the celebration. However, we do respectfully decline the submissions we received to create exhibits for the event. " is the quote as written on Massively.
This not a rejection of child av submissions, builders, communities or attendees. However, as submitted, the exhibits either lacked enough information to make an evaluation, or contained material that was non-PG or suggested adult themes.
How will we judge the submissions? I've laid that out in the blog post and the comments, but to repeat the main idea:
All exhibits must be PG in theme, content and form, or they will not be accepted. In addition, if the work has content that is suggest of adult or non-PG themes, I suggest you modify or edit it out if you want to be part of the exhibition. Finally, if you are thinking about submitting, or if you already have submitted, add as much clarifying information that will help explain your work.

If this had been posted on page 2 or so of this thread, or the blog, the rest of the thread, and the confusion, might have been avoided. Well that changes things immensely; although it doesn't alleviate my confusion. I can't see Marianne submitting a build that was suggestive of adult or non-PG themes.

Neither can I. But hers was probably among hundreds. I don't think Everett's massive quote was directed at Mari specifically. It read as though it was directed at all "kid" submissions however, and then the entire controversy was allowed to fester and simmer for days before a clarification was offered. A complex lesson, but hopefully one learned just the same. From: Dakota Tebaldi Well that changes things immensely; although it doesn't alleviate my confusion. I can't see Marianne submitting a build that was suggestive of adult or non-PG themes.

Mari Hey, Mari... why don't you put out in public view exactly what you DID submit? Then we could see for sure if Everett is just blowing smoke or not.

For myself, I was (am?) doing a photography exhibit, using photos from my "Why A Kid?" show (you can view these inworld in my store in Livingtree, or in Linden Lab's I-World Island in the cafe). You can review the sort of photos (including ones I would be putting into such a show) at http://flickr.com/photos/marianne-mccannDat should clarify things. Mari

Mari Let me guess... nothing remotely non-PG or suggestive, right? I'll go take a look when I can, but I have the feeling I'm going to come to the conclusion that Everett is just blowing smoke in his statement above.

It almost sounds as if what they really meant to say was "Children are welcome". and "We might not accept builds that aren't pg." And only accidentally got them both into the same sentence. I hope this all turns out to be a mistake and we get to enjoy the kids' build. Marianne, your pictures are great I often click on the link in your signature. We don't need no education.

We don't need no education. Don't you wish that just once, LL would take the marbles out of their mouth before saying something.? Just once.

Thanks for the marbles in the mouth image...and in revenge : what if the reason they only rarely communicate is because they only have one set of marbles to put in their mouths?

If Mari's exhibit doesn't get accepted, someone really needs to build some of that and get it into the party somehow.
