One may need a sense of humour to post at SC....but good manners, basic respect and IQ points, those things are purely optional.

And it shows.

I checked out stratics, and it has such minimal activity (could that be because of the censorship and overbearing rules?) that I couldn't hold interest. Their General forum had about 80 total threads, started by about 4 people, and about half of them were started by the same person - Broccoli Curry. That said, they seem like nice enough folks, but I've honestly never really been a fan of Stratics since I (tried) to work with them a few years back on a collaborative project for a client.

Hello FlipperPA, thank you for noticing me! I was told about this post so I thought I'd reply.

We recently expanded Stratics Second Life, and you might like to drop by and look again because I am sure there has been a lot of activity since. Not only are there the forums, but also of course news - of which I am a reporter - and the "Help Guides" for new players.

Stratics doesn't actually really have overbearing rules or censorship - this is a common unfounded accusation, and the few rules we do have are pretty much standard to most forums.

The 'censorship' you refer to was merely a global policy regarding profanity. However, due to the '18+' nature of Second Life, this has now been changed for the Second Life site as a user choice whether to have certain words filtered or not. So really, I'm not sure that point is really valid any more.

It may seem, at times, like half of the posts replied to are by the same person, but no doubt you've been on forums before and replied to maybe half a dozen threads on different issues, whilst nobody else was posting so your name appears many times.

I wouldn't hold whatever history you had on a collaborative project against us; each Stratics Site, although under the global banner, is run by different people, and each one has its own particular 'flavor' obviously tailored to the game it is covering. Whoever or whatever it was you were working on may not even be a Stratics volunteer any more.

Do give us another chance, and maybe look one of us up in-world for a chat sometime. In our HQ you'll see indicators of when staff members are online.

You don't need humor to post.

I'm sure all of the posters appreciate your kind words. :)
