People might as well talk smack about SC on other sites, because they will be accused of it anyway.

When I quit SC (which I did rather fondly and with little fanfare), I was accused in General on these boards of talking bad about SC on other sites, which I never did.

Still haven't, if you don't count this post.

I really dont care if you wanna blast on somebody or something. Just be man/woman/furry enough to come to the place and speak your mind. Yes you will be blasted and made fun of but atleast you can say hey I had the ball/ovaries to do it to there face and not somewhere else. You know, I never posted here much, having been a late adopter to both SL and the forums. I have, however, been a veteran of many forum wars in many other places, so I've seen a lot of the vitriol being tossed back and forth.

To be honest, the reason I *initially* chose Second Citizen over the official SL forums was the lack of moderation, but not because I wanted to flail around like a lunatic, text guns-a-blazin', and spew a stream of hateful speech or bad typing, or be anyone's idea of ironic.

I chose Second Citizen because the people there seemed HONEST. Not honest as to imply that other forums are dishonest, per se, but honest in the sense that they tell you how they really feel.

Moderation has its place in a company-sponsored forum, where the company may, utlimately, be liable for any of the death threats and whatnot get spouted. However, if I wanted to read sanitized posts, I'd be content with reading the Official Blog.

Ultimately, what annoyed me enough to actually write this is the presumption that everyone who prefers Second Citizen is somehow inferior on the basis of their brethren. Yes, there are some total fuckwits on SC. Yes, there are people there who every time I see their name in front of a post, I cringe, knowing it's going to be foul. But I can respect them for being who they are, and for being straight-forward with saying what they feel. I get an honest take on what's going on there (when taken with a grain of salt), not the "oh, goodness, I better not say anything that offends the Lindens/ResMods/Forum Owner!" I prefer it that way.

Your Mileage May Vary. *But* the act of coming to a sanitized forum to rail against the sins and depravity of people in another forum, to hide behind the sanitary protection of the LL forums that remain. You don't like Second Citizens? Fine. I dislike more than a few of them myself. You want to TELL us you don't like us? Fine. I'd prefer you do it there, but hey, whatever.

Just don't act like you can't leave whenever you want. Tons of forums in the sea, and none of them require bashing Second Citizen in order to gain admission that I know of.

I just dropped in, having only been able to read the first couple pages before snap-replying...

SC usually has, by my long experience with boards, less spewing bile than, say, Bulletin, General, and Sandbox. Which are now closed.

And now that bile spewing is shifting to the other forums.
There's nothing wrong with SC, except that we encourage people to get a damn avatar, so they we may identify them easier. (Well, the ftard thing is a little much).

As for whatever this thread has turned into, I'll take not part in it.

But you know what the great thing about the choice we all have now is? You don't have to participate if you don't want to.

If you think SC is a bunch of meanie-poo poo heads, you don't have to post. You have many other places to go. For example, Lewis will literally prostitute himself to get you to sign up at Stratics. Search his name. He's whored it out multiple times.

The avatar is a rule. A very simple and easy to follow rule, in my opinion. It's one of the very, very few rules that the owner of the forum has instituted. In exchange for following that rule, you get unlimited reign to share your opinion, to feel how you feel, to not have to worry about "if I post this will I not be able to log into SL anymore?" That's reasonable to me.

And even if you don't want to follow that rule-- hey! You can still post! You just have to deal with the default avatar.

Prok wanted to turn it into a crusade, like everything else she does, to demonstrate how much she's persecuted and tormented for doing nothing wrong. And that's fine if she wants to fight every battle she comes across. That doesn't make her right but it's her decision whether she wants to participate with us or not.

Writing long forum threads about how we're all bullies is juvenile. If that were the case, the bulk of former-SL Forum residents wouldn't have followed us over there.

SC is a good place. Nobody's treated meanly unless you're an idiot. Darwinism is in full effect over there and I appreciate that. If you'd like to know how new residents are treated, check out the welcome threads:

And to anyone else who can't stomach free-flowing opinions without fear of resmod retribution, grow up. You've got plenty of other feel-good places to go without the need to complain about how mean we are.

The LL forum could be a bit too repressive at times, but you really have to love rolling in shit to go to the SC forums.

It's also totally disorganised. They have about five different forums that all amount to "off-topic/general" so you have to comb through pages and pages of dreck just to find out what's happening.

Why do you guys care enough to make a post here about not wanting to go there? Was this thread nessecary? Is it HELPING anyone? No. It's causing fights.

Yeah, but every time someone makes an off comment about the SC forums, like five of you guys come down and start defending it.
