The LL forum could be a bit too repressive at times, but you really have to love rolling in shit to go to the SC forums.

It's also totally disorganised. They have about five different forums that all amount to "off-topic/general" so you have to comb through pages and pages of dreck just to find out what's happening.

Why do you guys care enough to make a post here about not wanting to go there? Was this thread nessecary? Is it HELPING anyone? No. It's causing fights.

You know, I never posted here much, having been a late adopter to both SL and the forums. I have, however, been a veteran of many forum wars in many other places, so I've seen a lot of the vitriol being tossed back and forth.

To be honest, the reason I *initially* chose Second Citizen over the official SL forums was the lack of moderation, but not because I wanted to flail around like a lunatic, text guns-a-blazin', and spew a stream of hateful speech or bad typing, or be anyone's idea of ironic.

I chose Second Citizen because the people there seemed HONEST. Not honest as to imply that other forums are dishonest, per se, but honest in the sense that they tell you how they really feel.

Moderation has its place in a company-sponsored forum, where the company may, utlimately, be liable for any of the death threats and whatnot get spouted. However, if I wanted to read sanitized posts, I'd be content with reading the Official Blog.

Ultimately, what annoyed me enough to actually write this is the presumption that everyone who prefers Second Citizen is somehow inferior on the basis of their brethren. Yes, there are some total fuckwits on SC. Yes, there are people there who every time I see their name in front of a post, I cringe, knowing it's going to be foul. But I can respect them for being who they are, and for being straight-forward with saying what they feel. I get an honest take on what's going on there (when taken with a grain of salt), not the "oh, goodness, I better not say anything that offends the Lindens/ResMods/Forum Owner!" I prefer it that way.

Your Mileage May Vary. *But* the act of coming to a sanitized forum to rail against the sins and depravity of people in another forum, to hide behind the sanitary protection of the LL forums that remain. You don't like Second Citizens? Fine. I dislike more than a few of them myself. You want to TELL us you don't like us? Fine. I'd prefer you do it there, but hey, whatever.

Just don't act like you can't leave whenever you want. Tons of forums in the sea, and none of them require bashing Second Citizen in order to gain admission that I know of.

The thread BECOMING a rant with strong implications that everyonw who used Second Citizen was mentally deficient for doing so is what I couldn't sit back and abide.

So, you'd never talk among your friends that you don't like restaurant X, right? You'd go straight to the chef and tell him directly. And if you didn't like the latest movie you saw at the theater, you wouldn't say that to your co-workers, you'd take it up with the director, cast and crew, eh?

SC is a public venue. People can and will review it when and where they like. Learn to live with it.

The irony of a seven-page insult-laden thread about how another forum and the people there are too rude... well. Ahem.

I'm not particularly bothered *what* people infer from my presence there, or what assumptions that might mean they make about me; whilst I disagree sometimes with the way it is run (come to think of it, I did about the avatar thing, and made it quite clear) it seems to comprise an honest bunch of people who won't stab me in the back. That is something very valuable.

Also, I have been to far better parties in SL resulting from SC than any resulting from the official forums, which must mean something.

Volume isn't just quantity but quality.

Live with people bashing somethng because they got there feelings hurt? Hell no espcially when they hide behind moderation like this place. billybob could have expressed his feeling on the SC boards and then went on. But he knew he was going to get chewed up and spit out, so he ran to the teacher(meaning this forum) and pointed his finger and started sticking his tongue out while the teachers back was turned, while all along playing he was victim to something he didnt deserve. Then you decided to put on your boots and wade through the shit and be a voice of reason. This whole time billybob is still standing there grinning at everybody and thinking "haha I gots yous in trouble with the teacher".

I actually didn't do anything like that. So since you do know what I am thinking and all, good job! I don't hide behind the Lindens, in fact I am surprised I haven't gotten in trouble. Moderation is not an issue when it comes to forums. I don't care whether they are moderated or not, but since thats the only straw you can try and grasp, have fun.
