Sighs i cannot belive that this has gone on for 15 pages
i have rarely seen such acidic venom spewed for no reason other than to be hurtful! i do not know Aimee all that well but i can say in my dealings with her she has always been extreamly helpful , kind, loving, and supportive and i just cannot figure out what she has done to deserve this kind of rabid hatred? for all i know yes she could eat babies in her free time but i don't think so and much of what i have seen here is just forum arguements between certain people who just like to be contrary to eachother Go ahead insult me now for sticking up for Aimee but i will stand by her until she gives me a reason not to! and i'm sorry the fact that repeorters liek her is not a reason btw did it ever occur to you that aside from being cutely quirky she is also very quick witted and articulate which not all creative people are so they do not make for a good interview no matter how deserving _____________________

I will take Jonquille's advice and not respond anymore (in this thread anyway) to those posts which wish to take on me as a person or my motivations. coco _____________________

Well with this thread finally slowing down I feel like I should say something to wrap up. This has been really emotional for me. When people take pot shots at high profile people, I think they feel a certain kind of insulation. The mentality is "celebs can't hurt me, and they don't feel pain" If only
![]() But it hasn't all been pain. Some of you stood by me in ways I could never hope to imagine. Some stood up for me in the forums, and some stuck by me in private to help cheer me up and keep things in perspective. I just want to say that I fully intend to keep on going, doing what I do. Wherever my future takes me here in SL, I will remember every single one of you, and I will never hesitate to stand by your sides whenever you need me. Your support has meant more to me today that you could ever imagine . <3 _____________________

I think characterizing and pigeonholding any member as a "celebrity" is part of the problem. Yea, but it happens anyway. _____________________

People are still pining over this?
Are people trying to be jerks? Unless Aimee owns the media sources covering her, she doesn't have any monopoly on press. So go take your selfish feelings elsewhere. I'm surprised this didn't get locked yet. _____________________

yuppers true, this has nothing to do with Aimee personaly. Look at the big picture if you can folks. I know its hard sometimes but there is more to this than the monitor your staring at ![]() It's nice that you are asking, once again, for people to submit ideas, pictures etc to you. But we have been down this road before with LL and with you. Do you remember the uproar before about resident pics on the SL web site remaining unchanged? You asked then for pictures to be submittted to you and what was the result...no change. The pics are the same. Remember Catherine Linden's old post from way back in March 2004 requesting pictures after receiving a barrage of complaints from residents: Send Me Your Avatar Photos and SL Reviews -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are in the process of updating all the images on the Second Life website and one area we'd like to focus on is the Resident Review featire. If you'd like your Avatar and a comment about SL to be considered, please send a jpeg, a short review and your Second Life name to goodstuff@lindenlab.com. There are a number of places we could feature reviews - http://secondlife.com/reviews/ (please disregard the reviews email address) http://secondlife.com/gallery/ (see right margin) and in various print and online incarnations. Thanks In addition, Catherine Linden has admitted that LL gets press request for info about residents and she has in the past asked for profiles from members to provide in press package referrals. Anyone who denies LL does this is unaware of the way things are handled. Yes, Aimee is in the LL press package and thats why she appears regularly in articles about SL. This isn't Aimees fault and no one should blame her for LL laziness about handing out the same old press package to every and anyone who asks about LL. Once again, as in the past, this is a Linden created problem. In the past we have made so many suggestions to LL for resolution of this problem but once the fires were extinguised on the forums the problem was forgotten, Past proposed solutions have included resident panels created to seek out new builds and content and submit to LL for inclusion in a regularly updated resident spotlight area on the SL web page. I think thats a great idea. LL is shorthanded they claim..well, there are many residents who would volunteer to do this and that also has been suggested to LL in the past. _____________________

We can look at the big picture Catherine, in fact we are asking to see it, but LL keeps showing the same small picture of SL and its content creators. It's nice that you are asking, once again, for people to submit ideas, pictures etc to you. But we have been down this road before with LL and with you. I wish I was as good with words as you so I can clearly explain my thoughts without others always being so defensive and thinking its insulting.... _____________________

Damn..I pretty much missed this entire thread. Is it too late to touch Aimee's panties?
Seriously though: Aimee is wonderfully talented, witty, sexy and friendly, and any positive attention that comes her way is probably very much deserved, whether she wants it or not. (Now can I touch them?) _____________________

First of all..
The article is NOT about "panties" per se... it's about virtual commerce. It uses panties as a cute headline to mean "they are not real, you can't touch them yet people spend and make real money on virtual commerce." Second of all... To many of the complaints on this thread come from those who have very obviously not read the article. |

LL keeps showing the same small picture of SL and its content creators. I probably should have been posting in this thread from the beginning, but I don't often look at the forums these days, mostly because I am very busy and I get sick of reading flamefests. Anyway, for those who don't know, my real-life av is Mark Wallace, the author of the article, and I'd just like to give you a little insight into how it was put together and what kind of hand LL had in the process. This shouldn't take long: I didn't contact Linden Lab at all for this article. The quotes from Philip were taken from an interview I did several months ago (the same quotes have already appeared in other articles I've written), and the quotes from Cory are taken from accounts of a talk he gave a while back. LL didn't recommend Aimee, I picked her on my own. Aimee wasn't originally intended to be the lead anecdote of the story, but it just worked out that way. When I was reporting it, I knew I needed to talk to someone I'd never talked to before, so I went to a mall and looked around at shops. Aimee's was cool, her clothes were cool, and I knew from the forums that she has a good sense of humor, so I thought I'd get in touch with her to see what I could learn. (I think the most contact I'd had with her before that was to tut-tut over her FICtory thread a while back.) So don't blame LL in this case. Like any other company, they have a corporate PR machine that works to put out the message they want to put out (not always the message we want to read about, it's true). But in this case, I steered clear of it. You can proceed to flame me all you want for falling victim to the attraction of celebrity or whatever, but do remember that the article wasn't meant to highlight new or unusual content-creators in SL, it was meant to be a look at virtual commerce, so I needed a good colorful successful example of that, and Aimee popped to mind. P.S. On a more Walkering note: If anyone knows of people we should feature in the Second Life Herald, please drop me an email to walkering AT gmail etc. Better yet, if anyone wants to WRITE about someone interesting, that would be great, and we will pay you our usual pittance. _____________________

With the amount of crap you end up taking for it it's amazing how people still clamour to be in your shoes. We should be thanking you for putting up with being put up on display and taking all the resultant potshots. _____________________
