Gosh! Open society does not mean everyone should be equal!

Dude, total red herring. No one is talking about this but you. Make another thread if you're so obsessed with that subject.

I've deleted my posts. Apparently even though I thought out my words very carefully and tried to voice an opinion it was taken as joining the Aimee bashing. I'll say again, Aimee doesn't deserve the backlash so chill with it already. I said what I wanted to say about the Media but yet again that was taken the wrong way as well. Congrats on another great article and sorry I openend my mouth or typed..whatever.

And by the way - how is it that you read this entire thread and come from it with the idea that there is just me on it, telling you all wrong "we all are."

Seems to me that there are more voices in this thread than just me saying the sorts of things I'm saying. Or do they just not count, Weedy?

coco

They count, because they stay on point. You veil your posts in victim complexes and inequity. There is a difference.

I wonder... how long is it before someone writes a satirical article wondering why Philip Rosedale is mentioned in so many SL articles?

Oh, if you want to comment at Mark Wallace's site, there's an URL for that too:

first off aimee is the one you all most love to hate because there is nothing backhanded or bad ABOUT her...she is the right amount of punk, street, eccentricity that attracts all kinds...and shes easily recognizable...this has gotten silly. i have no talent and i know it...aimee i amazing and she deserves all the recognition she gets. back up off her or ill send my goon squad after ya

Cheap shot #3. Sorry Enabran, try harder to stop me from posting here, not working :)

In fact, you made a good point about red herring, how all your posts are one. I started this discussion with my original critique, which you completely diverted into personal accusations of jealosy and such. Now you are telling me all your responses to me were irrelevant because I am not talking about what is being discussed here? Talk about red herring!

Woah! I cannot help reading this thread and feeling like it reeks of jealousy. And if it isn't jealousy, then it is just plain mean. Why people cannot be happy when others are successful has always boggled me. I'm a super competitive person, but I don't balk when someone else gets more "fame" than I do. I just work harder at whatever it is I'm trying to accomplish. Aimee doesn't ASK to be written about. And so what if many people WANT to write about her. If you aren't a person that is getting written about, perhaps you need to look to yourself and your actions rather than complain when someone else gets all the attention.

I'm leaving by night
I'm leaving alone
I'm leaving it lie
When you waken I'll be gone
I would not beg for me
As I would not beg for you
Though I'd like to be the one
To see you through
Every step you have taken
Disappears with the tide
You're torn up and shaken
With changing your mind
You haven't got the grace
To say you'll finally decide
And you haven't got the strength
To stay and fight
Those people who surround you
Only want to see you weak enough to crawl
They'll lie for you decide for you
And buy up all your rights and all your wrongs
And they'll try to stop your singing
In the middle of your song
For they do not want you free
And they do not make you strong
But only drag you down
In the hole they're coming from

They say you are foolish in wanting the sun
Say you are selfish in learning to run
And they'll tell you that the darkness
Is a blessing in disguise
For you never have to notice
If you're sighted or you're blind
And they'll do their best
To keep you from the light
You're more than beginning
You're learning to fly
You feel like you're falling
But it passes in time
I hate to see a friend
Go down in flames without a song
So I'm waiting by the doorway
But I will not linger long
I'm leaving by night
I'm leaving alone
I'm leaving it lie
When you waken I'll be gone
I would not beg for me
As I could not beg for you
But I'd like to be the one
To see you through

When I first posted the link to the article, it was with the intention of discussing, at least in part, what's going on with money in SL. Life, Second Life is full of surprises though. :)

Were you not going off a few weeks ago about how understaffed LL was? Do you seriously believe that the Lindens should hold a competition, or a lottery or a interview process for a journalist?

If someone wrote an article about Canada, I am a proud and hard working Canadian, but I dont expect to be screened with selection criteria.

No.

I expect them to have some sort of process for regular changing of the profiles on the website, and for the avatars pictured on the website.

That will be up to you. Not me. Use ignore or don't post or whatever. I have an opinion too.

Typical of your dismissal of anyone else's opinion.

That's another Red Herring Torley. You shouldn't feel bad or sorry for the discussions, these are healthy, unfortunately they get diverted and constant barrage of jealousy and meanness accusations create an incredible noise where the real point is never discussed or heard.

Those are your expectations, thus you cannot fault LL for not meeting them - there are many, many things that are a much higher priority than that. Given the limited resources they do have, I can understand why it is not a priority at all. I agree with the sentiment that more variety would be nice - but at the same time, even if they made Aimee the permanent spokesmodel for SL (I think she is hotter than Echo Omega), I would rather not have a moment's development wasted on web site profiles that could be focused on other things.

I have to concur, this thread certain did bring out the jealous asshole factor in spades.

PS - I <3 Aimee

Yes, you do have an opinion.

And I suppose if I post my opinion on something, and you choose to post your personal opinion on me, then that is your right, as long as it doesn't go too far in the attack direction.

Even the one above doesn't pass my bar for an attack. However, others will probably note that I am talking about ideas, and not about the personalities Weedy like to talk about - such as me.

Cristiano, has it occured to you that some of those wanting more opportunity for more people don't even WANT to be featured in articles?

Where did I say you wanted to be featured? I said that I don't think it is a high priority, given the sheer amount of development tasks they have. My comment about the jealous asshole factor was not directed at you. I told you I agree with your point.

That's not fair to Simons, though. At least he was able to ascend the ladders of power (even if corrupt). ;)

Bonus points for the reference in any case, TT. Good to have you back among us. :D

Also was not directed at you - my agreeing with Enabran about that does not relate to your dispute with him. It is fine to think that Aimee is over promoted - I am sure she is probably sick of the attention. What has pissed me off is the sentiment that she is somehow undeserving, untalented, etc. That is just nasty. She is guilty of nothing, and to demean her simply because she has been promoted more than some people would like, especially in the way some people have done in this thread, just reeks of pettiness.

I have in the past expressed similar sentiments - that I would like to see more diversity of those featured. In the process, I would not begin to criticize or demean those who have been featured, and those who have done so here, I have no respect for. In expressing your opinion, you have not done that.
