From what I understand it is something similar to a Burka, which, to be honest, we need also.
I'm not sure. Personally I think we need a "Tie" colthing type.

This would bring an entirely new dimension to Second Life, the addition of the merkin as a Linden-supported clothing item!

LMAO!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkin Instead of being clothing, a merkin would more appropriately be another kind of hair setting in the appearance tool. _____________________

I think you're looking for a jerkin, Burke.
I bet someone could make a lot of money in SL selling religious garments. Catholic robes, tallises and yarmulkes, burkas (not specifically religious, I know), Buddhist robes, etc. _____________________

I endorse it. Not saying I'd use or need one myself... but I endorse it.

Why not just use attachments?
Oh, wait. I didn't see this quote from the first descripting link in this thread: "On first use your merkin may be stiff and difficult to attach properly. Do not be embarrassed to ask for assistance. For best results we recommend that four persons be recruited for this purpose--one to grasp either leg, one to apply the merkin, and one to act as lookout." _____________________

Catholic robes, tallises and yarmulkes, burkas (not specifically religious, I know), Buddhist robes, etc. That's a great suggestion, Walker, and definitely an open market. I haven't seen too many of these types of garments... and heck, it wouldn't even have to necessarily be religious: if someone can look cool doing Constantine-ish fight anims in robes inspired by an alb, why not? ![]() _____________________

I had to look this up in my dictionary, and died laughing on the second definition.
mer'kin (mûr'kĭn), n. [Appar. var. of MALKIN.] 1. The female pubes, or false hair for it. Obs. Slang. 2. A mop for cleaning cannon. Obs. or Rare Webster's New International Dictionary of the English Language Second Edition, Unabridged ---- I think there should be more layers for clothing and such. They all get baked together anyway. _____________________

Obs. or Rare I have loved this word for years expressly because it gets both those definitions. It would still be a pretty good word if it only meant #1, but the fact that it also means #2 is absolutely genius. I think I first read it here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1559722339/002-3660407-9565639 _____________________
