From: Siggy Romulus Not entirely true - the problems involving Prok stopped.
Just like the problems involving Ulrika stopped when she 'never ever again would post on the forums' Not meaning any offense or malice toward you, but... Bullhocky! I just MENTIONED Prok's name a few months back, and nearly was nailed to the wall. Getting rid of Prok did nothing to improve the forums. The ones who screamed about him were still here as well. Not saying I'm mad about it, but once targeted by it, your not going to ignore it either...

Not saying I'm mad about it, but once targeted by it, your not going to ignore it either... I'm not saying it improved the forums in that it improved who was already here... It stopped the problems generated by Proks postings I think thats a very true statement. If you had a problem with some idiots because you mentioned that name - well thats not drama generated by Prok - thats drama generated by you and them

From: Uma Bauhaus Did I unethically enter twice to increase my chance of winning or did I not realize that there was a one-entry per human rule and made a mistake? Like I said on SC - I don't understand the OR in there.. You (may have) mistakenly misread the entry form (my own opinion - highly fucking unlikely) ... but you DID do it in order to double your chances of getting a plot.. of that there cannot be any doubt whatsover.

Well, Uma...I accept your apology, but, wouldn't it be better to accept your punishment and be involved with Burning Life some other way?

No. I think losing my land, being excluded from the next round of the lottery, and vilified in the forums is punishment enough for a mistake. The display is a postive one, showcasing the faces of many people that you and I both call friends. I want it to be a larger-than-life celebration of all of us. Besides, I spent 20 hours coding a 40 m wide sphere, what else am I going to do with it?

From: Uma Bauhaus ... The solution is that all my land has been returned and that I am disqualified from the remaining rounds of the lottery. For those who have seen my Burning Life entry and are concerned that it won't be seen, relax. I've specifically designed it to wander about a sim at a high altitude such that it doesn't even need a plot of land. Frankly, I just love Burning Life and am happy to contribute and share in the artistry whether or not I have a plot of virtual earth. { and in another thread that I can't reply to there } BL2006 Entry - Giant Head My burning life entry is built from ten prims. One large 40x40x40 m sphere serves as a screen, while nine other raster prims spin around the screen drawing pixels made from particles. The raster spin rate is timed such that a pixel is just fading out when its raster returns to refresh it. The image on the sphere is a face repeated in each quadrant and changing over time. The result is a giant ever-changing face that looks down on all participants. More abstractly, the display represents our digital nature in Second Life. It is a mutable facsimile with many faces and its lack of permanence represents the transient nature of the medium. To complete it, I need your help. Right now I just have Uma and Ulrika's faces but I need more. If you're interested in having your face on the Giant Head, post an image of your SL face (at least 512x512) in this thread. If I select it, I'll ask you for L$720 to cover the upload cost (I have a 8x9 grid of images I have to upload for each face). I'd like a total of twelve faces, with a new one shown every five minutes, so there's room for ten more. So to review, here's the procedure: - Post an image here at least 512x512.
- If it will work with my display, I'll reply to you.
- You send Uma Bauhaus L$720.
- I'll upload the image and add it to the Giant Head.
- Fame and fortune will follow.
Admittedly it is a cool display... and if someone (not an alt of yourself) is willing to loan you some space for it, I've no beef with that. But (72x) (512x512) particle textures PER face and you're going to add faces? It sounds like it could easily saturate some folk's bandwidth. (and how do you make 1 prim into a 40x40x40m sphere? )

Am guessing the source file is 512x512 or more in size, but then cropped into smaller per-particle pieces, that put together form the full picture again. There isn't much sense in scaling the source up 8-9 times, as it wouldn't add any more detail that wasn't there to begin with. o.O;

From: Cocoanut Koala Good God almighty. I said at the time Prok was banned that he wasn't the cause of forum problems. And indeed, they never stopped. "Saved our forum-culture" - I don't think so. The forum culture has been rotten since the day I got here, and doubtless was before I came. A more corrupt place I have never been party to. coco I have been away, Coco, so I don't know how things have been recently. But I know how things looked to me then, and I decline ever to interact with Prok again. I also decline to interact with you about her. We'll just have to agree to disagree - a perfectly honorable position. I really value the forums, and am sad to see them go

From: Jopsy Pendragon But (72x) (512x512) particle textures PER face and you're going to add faces? It sounds like it could easily saturate some folk's bandwidth. The entire display is made from only nine prims and because it uses particles, it offloads all the processing to the client. It's a massive display with a small sever-side footprint. As for bandwidth, the images themselves are cut from a single 512x512 image (64x64 pixels each), so the entire sphere only uses what is effectively a single 512x512 texture that cycles every two minutes. From: someone (and how do you make 1 prim into a 40x40x40m sphere? ) The sphere was created using an exploit from an old client that allowed the creation of extra-large prims. It was given to me in the Burning Life arena by a helpful fellow. The prim was unfortunately set to no transfer.

I would like to publicly appologize to all members of SL. I honestly and truly made a mistake by submitting an entry into the Burning Life lottery twice as Ulrika Zugzwang and Uma Bauhaus. As soon as I was informed of my mistake, I immediately apologized and proactively sought a solution. During the course of the discussions with the Lindens, I posted updates, including their final decision in various threads. In short, because I entered the contest with two avatars, I will receive no land and will not be reentered in this year's lottery. The situation has been resolved at least technically. My importantly though, the question of my intent still remains. Did I unethically and intentionally enter twice to increase my chance of winning or did I not realize that there was a one-entry per human rule and made a mistake? I strongly maintain it was the latter, however, I leave it up to you to decide. Here is some information for you to make up your mind: - It is common knowledge that Ulrika and Uma are the same.
- In the lottery thread, one can see that Ulrika and Uma submitted an entry one right after the other.
- When I submitted Ulrika and Uma, I was actually thinking to myself, that it is so nice that LL has done away with the policy of one-human one-entry, since they've opened up the forum to limitless unverified alts.
- In this post here, you can see me talk about signing up with alts as if I thought it were allowed.
In my case, only a single plot will be claimed, simply due to time constraints. However, since avatars are treated as individuals by LL, those RL humans who have multiple lots under different names will be allowed to build upon them if they have the time.
- In this post here, you can see where I realize I made a mistake and apologized.
Damn. I didn't see that and I apologize to all of you. I so love Burning Life and have the utmost respect for the artisans who participate.
I will absolutely be claiming only one parcel. As pennance, I will donate half of the only plot I plan claim to another member of the community who isn't selected in the next round, provided I personally like them.
- I then tried to keep people informed of the discussion in several places such as here:
For those who would like to know about the status of my mistaken double entry, Guy Linden and I have been in contact concerning the mistake. I've sent him an email with links to this thread to demonstrate that I had no malicious intent and have made the following proposals to him...
- I then finally posted the Linden verdict here.
The solution is that all my land has been returned and that I am disqualified from the remaining rounds of the lottery. It's tough love for someone who was up front with their mistake but understandable given the Linden policy of not allowing the appearance of favoritism.
I have always been completely honest with all of you since the beginning of this debacle. I truly made a mistake. More importantly though, is that I love this event and have a desire to contribute with a positive entry. I've made a display that is a tribute to the people of SL, showing various faces of those who I've had the pleasure of meeting in my many long years in this world. It will be seen as well, as many individuals who see that this was a mistake have offered me space above their lots, so I can have a stationary display. No wandering required. I'm going to keep bumping this with the above information every few hours for the next week. Live with it.

Uma, I know that you have every right to decline to satisfy my curiosity at such a personal question, and I have absolutely no right to ask it, but what is your background with regard to belief systems, faith, religion etc ? I really would like to know where your inflexible sense of your superiority came from. Were you taught it, or did you conjure it yourself ? This is a genuine inquiry, and honestly not intended as a put-down attempt. I have an interest in how we evolve our self-image, and you are pretty far out, girl.

Even though I got caught with my hand in the cookie jar, I will not go to my room like lesser people say I should, I will make my display and screw you.

That is a fascinating question and believe it or not I was actually wondering the very same thing about you. I really would like to know where your self righteousness and penchant to engage in cruel public persecution come from. I was imagining that this is due to a puritanical religious upbringing where one was taught to engage in an inquisition through the process of unmitigated character assassination. Although it sounds like I'm mocking you, this is a serious inquiry and honestly and I'm not putting you down. I too have interested in how we evolve our self-image and I'd love to know why you question peoples ethics using the most unethical methodology possible.
