The penis fountain got to stay after a brief scuffle.

As it should be. :)

I have already set up Snapzilla to auto-tag all of the pictures from the BL sims as burning life 2006, and it is now featured on the front page, along with a link to last year's collection of images.

If I remember correctly, there was a penis fountain last year. The Lindens made it go away.

Giant wang got to stay, there was a brief scuffle, a peaceful protest, and much use of euphimism.

For anyone who's interested in checking out pictures of the RL version , Burning Man, go here: http://images.burningman.com/

They've made some spectacular stuff over the years. The fact that these structures/installations are (very) temporary is even more amazing.

I'm thrilled I won a plot. And will be claiming it as soon as I can. Progress will be slow but I do have a vision in my head and I'll have to tackle it during the week. But I do have something that could relate to the RL Burning Man theme of Hope and Fear for the Future. Congrats to everyone who got a plot and hope to see ya'll there. :)

Do you know what the worst thing is? By the time Burning life is in full swing, the forums will be gone.

We won't have any place were we can talk about how cool everything was. :(

Heh. I have an idea in mind (The Future of Education), and I'm trying to go retro-futuristic, but I need prim and texture donations! :D

I think because people are slow.
Eh, IMHO BL land should have all been group deeded, even for premium members.

For those who would like to know about the status of my mistaken double entry, Guy Linden and I have been in contact concerning the mistake. I've sent him an email with links to this thread to demonstrate that I had no malicious intent and have made the following proposals to him:
  1. Allow me to keep a single plot and give half away to someone who doesn't get selected in round two.
  2. Have me return both plots and enter in the second round with others.
  3. Have me return both plots and be disqualified lottery altogether.

I will be satisfied with any outcome. I feel Burning Life is one of the best things SL has going for it and have no intention of sullying it with drama.

With that said, I've also allowed my current situation to define Burning Life entry. I'm in the process of creating a very large and technically complex entry using just eight prims. If I receive no land at all, I'll simply deploy it over an empty lot (there are always empty lots) or allow it wander about the sims on its own. I think you'll all be impressed with it when it's done. You can see the beta-version framework in Nani now, if you'd like. :)

Nice to know you've gotten service. A while back my significant other got a BL plot, and then discovered it wasn't set to build on. He tried contacting inworld Lindens and calling and e-mailing and everything, and LL ignored him or told him there was nothing they could do. He tried giving the plot away on the forums, and that didn't work, either. Finally he discovered that he could rez and shape objects on the nearly empty plot next door, and move them across the boundary onto the plot "set" to him. So he created bizarre flowers and grass hundreds of meters high, in honor of Linden customer service.

He was one of the best builders in SL, or so people told him. After that, however, he quit.

I wasn't around last year for Burning Life, but when I had an encounter today with a goob droping stuff on my parcel that I couldn't delete, LL responded quickly. It looks like LL set the parcels so that people cant delete other peoples stuff, so I was stuck with a big yellow bird thingy on my parcel. Myself and two others were all trying to delete it, and I IMed the owner. The owner claimed they "couldn't see it". Yeah, right. So Hermina(?) Linden shows up and deletes it. (Of course the jerk that left it got an AR beforehand).

Later I found another item left by the same person, and Guy Linden handled that as well. Then he set the auto-return on my parcel for me, so I don't have to deal with it anymore. (All land controls are disabled on group parcels, apparently).

So far, and BL hasn't officially started yet, the Lindens have been responsive and helpful.

Stand long enough to read the kiosks..stand close enough to get the story behind the display. Arm yourself with knowledge and learn what Burning Life is all about, ban lines and all.

In the case of at least one plot (mine) it is a vital part itself of the theme of the plot. It's also meant to get your attention to the plot, so that you will stop and investigate.

To clarify though, it's not that anyone is banned....it's just set up such that only a limited group of privileged few can enter the plot. If this makes you feel unfairly excluded or put out...then it is working exactly as the theme meant to do.

Was he also dropping flowers? I had someine plant flowers all over my plot and it looked like he was doing it to everyone. But I guess there are worse things than flowers.

After exchanging an email with Guy, he's stated that I must raze my entry and both plots will be returned to the pool of land for the second round. He's relatively noncommunicative and didn't waste time discussing the finer philosophical points of intent and self disclosure. The email was terse, even leaving out whether or not I'll be put into the second-round of the lottery. I asked for clarification but based on prior communication, I'd imagine I am out completely.

With that said, if anyone has won land as an alt, whether it was by mistake or on purpose, do not let anyone know. This is one of those situations where honesty won't be rewarded, intent won't be considered, and rules will be applied dogmatically. Hey, it's just the way it is sometimes.

As for my Burning Life build, it can be seen in "Burning Life (Nani)" at (32, 160) at least until the end of the day. If any of you have a lot that you later realize you won't have time to build upon, I'd love a venue to put this on display. If worse comes to worse, I'll just unleash it in the Burning Life area wherever I can find space. (It's only 10 prims.) :D

Again, I apologize for the misunderstanding. I am very much looking forward to this year's Burning Life. I love both creating a display and visiting other displays. Last year I had to return my lot, as I had just had a baby and had no time. So this year I plan to make the most of it. See you there! :)

So you broke the rules, admitted you broke the rules, and wanted some sort of reward for breaking the rules? You had 2 entry's into the lottery, if everyone had won atleast one plot, then yeah you should have gotten to keep one. However now that your being taken out for breaking the rules, 2 of the people that followed the rules will beable to get plots. I totally agree with the LL decision here.

I was afraid that this would be one of those posts. Sure enough it was. :D

I agree with their decision as well, as you can see from several posts above, that I came forward on my own after realizing my mistake and even provided several solutions (including this one) to them. I'm not excited about the terse dogmatism but I certainly accept the outcome, as someone who made a mistake and honestly came forward should.

So, I have no interest in turning this into drama. The Burning Life event is too much fun for that. I've instead created an entry that will be able to be displayed in the event that this happened. It has. I am prepared. Let's move forward. I'll see you all in BL. :)

Mistaken my ass, it's just another case of you wanting what you want and to hell with the rules.

But you manage to bring drama at every turn, I suspect you feed and thrive on it, you do it so often.

You really do my dear take yourself far to seriously, and when others' decide not to play and banter with you, you pout.

Can you please reread what you wrote here and attempt to defend your attitude that you should repeatedly be the exception to the rule?

No one has respect for cowards who use alts to personally attack people in the forum.

I don't think that Uma had malicious intent with her double entry. I believe that it was just a case of over enthusiasm.

I wasn't surprised by Guy's response though, it's pretty much what I expected them to do. Imagine the outcry of favoritism and “FIC” that would have rang (rung?) out if they had done anything else.

But on the bright side, I kind of like the idea of putting your build out and letting it wander around a sim. They do stuff like that in the Burning Man festival so why not here? Seems to fall within the spirit of it all to me.
