Hell no.

I got sucked into the whole "SL pedo = RL pedo" argument (sorry, troll) and I am NOT falling for this one.

It's sick. And I DO have a big sens of humour. You have a serious problem if you think because I don't like dead babies joke that I have no humour... I just think that (I don't KNOW for sure but I GUESS) that 80% or more of the people that do those kind of jokes don't have kids... And I do. And I hate those prim babies disgustingness (if it's a word) and any other violent/gore things... And I am just 23, and plus I remember seeing those gross stickers when I was 6, and I still didn't think it was cool back then, it made my stomach squeeze. It's just a question of who/how you are I guess.

What makes me freak out is that.. I STILL *respect* the makers and the buyers, SL is there to realize your dreams and etc, and I am like, okay cool if you like it... But why am I getting told I have no humour and stuff opposite? Why won't gore-ish people respect me?
Dunno, but anyways, as I said I respect it, cept, I won't say it's all good, it's not (to my eyes).

Yeah, I can see what you mean. I have the same feeling about homosexuality, it being sick and all. Don't get me wrong, I respect their right to follow their sick desires, but it turns my stomach to see them walk down the street holding hands.

Please respect my opinions. I respect the gays, just don't make me say that what they're doing is good (not it my eyes).

We have a lot in common, Elka. Look me up in game.

I wonder, how much support would something similar, based on another group like Blacks, Asians, Jews, or other group last? I'm sure it would get the same approval and encouragement as the grim baby concept. After all, SL is just pretend, so it's harmless, and it certainly doesn't automatically mean that the person doing the killing in SL has that in mind in real life. Right?

Certain classes are protected by law and by convention and discrimination against them is wrong in many ways. These include (but are not limited to) gender, race, sexual orientation and in some cases age.

So you can abuse lawyers, hippies, soccer moms, frat boys, etc. and be on pretty safe ground. Babies are not a protected class in this sense, so they are also fair game. It may be sick and twisted, but in a good way.

But with all the uproar over this, I guess I'll have to scrap my new line of "tar babies."

I think also, the point is this. It is your right to feel whatever you want to feel about anything. God knows, I've thought to myself that many things were "twisted" or disturbing, and even in SL, I've had that reaction one or two times.

But. I didn't start a thread announcing to everyone, "zomg! what is with these sick fucks and their *insert offensive to me personally object and/or behavior*" Rant! Thumbs Down!

Thats... kinda asking for trouble, since not everyone is going to agree with you. Especially those that like what you are personally so offended by.

In 2004 14,121 people were murdered in the United States

Of those 14,121:
176 were under the age of 1
328 were between the ages of 1-4

sources: http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius_04/offenses_reported/violent_crime/murder.html
& http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html

The US population was estimated at 296,410,404 in 2005

Using the 2005 estimate - .004764% (.00004764) or of the total population (all ages) was murdered.

6.8% of the population are under the age of five, or 20,155,907

Using the age 0-4 numbers above and comparing it to the population under the age of five: .0025% of all children in the US under five are murdered.

This represents .00017% of the total number of murders (504) and includes "day of birth" murders which increase the number significantly in the infant catagory.

I haven't seen a grim baby, but it appears from the posts that they're under the age of 1 - so 176 = .0000593% of the total population.

I realize I'm crossing years a bit and I'm in no way attempting to argue that the murder of 176 (504) infants (toddlers) is not a problem and really hope the number goes down and wish it was zero.

My point is that this whole "PROTECT THE CHILDREN AT ALL COSTS" thing has gotten way out of hand due to media frenzy. The percentages above are incredibly small, but every time a child gets murdered (an attractive, usually white child - unless there's pressure) we hear about it for weeks on end and everyone gets the perception that babies are getting murdered all over the place on a regular basis and even simulating the killing/abuse of a virtual baby is "OMG HORRIBLE - IT MUST BE STOPPED".

Sick humor is still humor and just because it involves the image of an infant doesn't justify a demand for censorship (puppies are another story ;-).

We best protect our children by educating them about real risks and threats ("internet predators on myspace vs wearing a seatbelt and not talking on the cell-phone while driving). Society best protects our children by giving parents both resposibility for and authority to control their childrens' behavior.

I don't want a grim baby, but I understand that other people may find it amusing and I in no way believe that it represents some sick desire on the majorities part to kill babies; however, even if they do have sick desire to kill babies, at least they're doing it virtually. (compare sex crimes in countries with legal prostitution to countries that ban it).

I have no desire to live in a country that censors material for 93.2% of its population to protect 6.8%. I understand that's not the point of this thread, but it's the root of it, censor whatever happens to offend YOU and use the "WE MUST PROTECT THE CHILDREN" line to add weight to your argument.

/sigh - anyway...

Dear Grim:

You are sick and twist I hope you get some help.

Child abuse is not funny, it is never funny in any form.

Anyone that thinks this is funny shouldn't be able to go with in 100ft of a child.

I think it's funny. Will parents please keep their little noise machines 100ft away from me now? Or at least out of my yard?

Grim Babies
06-23-2006 05:05
Well, if its not Grim Babies that cause all whining- it would be something else.
My in-game fiance is friends with the creators, and between he and I, we have a small collection started. The babies are hysterical. I would rather feed a Grim baby benadryl than be at a club and listen to a preggo AV with a kicking baby or a little brat whining for attention. I say let others do what they want- its pixels, not reality, not child abuse in any form. If you are not responsible and mature enough to find the humor and irony in them, then maybe you ought to find a new game to play. Quite frankly, I hope BoBo makes millions off of you-if not with babies, something else.
Have a great SL!

I'm a rl mother of two, i'm European and i can appreciate Grim's humor, thats why i bought several of his babies, to support his idea. I have never hurt my daughters, not mentaly nor physicaly (i often pray they will get married soon tho).
Second Life is not real life, prim babies are not real babies.

In the Sims is used to make a sim named after my ex husband, letting him wet himself all day, place him in the pool and removed the pool ladder, so he died there, tired, starving etc, an awefull dead *evil grin*
Does this mean i wanna kill him in rl? :)

Running around with a talking tummy, having 'lovin words' in your picks for a bunch of spheres and cylinders is a sign you really need professional help in rl, asap!

Ha! Social worker indeed

...I do belive that Grim Babies has a social worker

It is true that Grims do have a Social Worker Elphaba, but have you actually met her? A more skanky, rancid, bitter, twisted, sick Avie I've yet to meet! She chain smokes in the poor little Primies faces. She tells any customers that it doesn't matter whether they can give those dear little babies homes cos she can put them to work in the factory. And yes, she does indeed do home visits, but only if she's paid to and then she asks probing nosey questions, shudders every time she looks at the children in question and asks folk where they got their furniture!!!! She's an unfeeling witch! It's rumoured that Grim found her turning tricks behind the factory -

Heh - wait a minute! I'm the Grims Social Worker!

Doh!

Members ONLY babie
06-24-2006 10:12
I would just like to make an announcement to yall, we have just released our *Group Member ONLY* babie, Dahmer. He is only avalible at our main location, to our group members.

::Caring For Dahmer::
Take into consideration when buying items like socks and shoes and gloves for Dahmer, the fact that he is missing a few fingers and toes and will need special clothing made. We suggest going to a beginner's knitting class and scooping up all of the items they consider "mistakes" as the glove with the missing finger holes would be perfect for your new baby.

Please note that ::Grim Babies:: take no responsibility for actual, mental or emotional distress caused by their orphans.

I'm offended that you think it's funny to abuse serial-killing cannibals. Someone might take your example and try to do something like this in real life.

One my friend and I got married in SL as a joke. She even made us a baby for the heck of it. I forgot it out on a beach once and the neighbor had to remind me to get it. I even once dressed it up with a party hat, gave it a beer, and a tail, good thing she knows how to take a joke! :D
