From: Neural Blankes Funny. All sorts of support for these Grim-babies. I wonder, how much support would something similar, based on another group like Blacks, Asians, Jews, or other group last? I'm sure it would get the same approval and encouragement as the grim baby concept. After all, SL is just pretend, so it's harmless, and it certainly doesn't automatically mean that the person doing the killing in SL has that in mind in real life. Right? But there's a difference here, there are no REAL babies playing SL! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yay, you all don't like child abuse, but neither does anybody else, no child abuse is happening in SL because there are no (or should not be) any children playing SL. We all respect your opinion, thanks for sharing, now please respect our opinions. You do know that you have given Grim babies a great amount of free advertising, and have probably made them more money than if you had not expressed your opinions on the forums. BTW, I have not killed my Prim Pin Pete once!

From: Katie Truss I am level minded because I am standing up for something I believe in...and what I would in RL...Abuse is not a joke PERIOD..In RL or in a game...I am actually surprised secondlife allows their residents to go that far, definitly more surprised that someone took it that far.
Hence The "Grand Theft Auto" game..
I guess there is a reason that the game got changed, and how many more games are being banned from more and more countries..
"The GTA series enables players to participate in virtual rape, murder and many other horrible acts for two purposes: entertainment, and profit for the developers and publishers. "
"Video games pose a greater "danger" to our culture than books, plays and movies. They allow the players to participate directly in the activities and share the risks and rewards through their avatar in the game.
Is stupidity involved? Sure, but any society that allows this kind of "entertainment" is responsible as well. There are some things that just shouldn't be.
Do I recommend banning all video games? Of course not! I love to play games on my PC, but there is a line that can be crossed, and I truly can't understand why we don't have enough discretion and common sense to understand this as a society when these vile games are sitting on our store shelves.
Me? I'll stand for God and sanity any day, whether it is popular or not--no matter how much of a narrow-minded fool I appear to those in a society that has lost its direction" News.com Ok there isnt much I can do here but offer some advice. The box your staring at right now there is a cord attached to it. Follow said cord if it ends at an electrical outlet unplug it, otherwise turn off the large rectangular box atttached to the cord. This can be acomplished by depressing the power button located on the front of the box for at least 10 seconds or throwing the box against any solid surface with sufficent force( I suggest the later). This should solve any issues you are having with offensive content if the condition persist follow previous instructions with all other devices causing offense. For further relief try burning newspapers, magazines, and books.

Wow! I finally found something I'm truly of two minds about.... What attracts me to Second Life is the freedom to "do as you please", so I can sort of adopt a "if thats your thing - cool" attitude. However..... I have 2 kids of my own, the time I had with them when they were babies is precious to me... and the thought of smashing a baby in effigy gives me the willies. I'm kinda elderly compared to many of my friends, so I approach Sl with the knowledge that my sense of humor is probably out of the mainstream. I guess my bottom line is this; if thats your thing then fine.....SL is all about "doing your thing". I won't be participating tho My head tells me to err on the side of free expression, my heart tells me something else....

Yeah, that is all I tried to say, but that Io person fired me back so harsh, didn't get my point at all!! So don't even try, it's not even about that anymore, all they want is everyone to think it's a very funny joke, allright? You CAN'T think it's not funny or then your a abnormal-freak-humour-less-elder-reader-digest-phobiac-tcetera... HI5!!

Really though if the creators happen to need any more free mall space? Give me a shout in game. Dead beaten babies will sell great at my FrEaKy mall.

Ya know, i wrote this big long thing but I really feel I dont need to go into detail how rediculous this is.. If your trippin about these babies.. just dont get them.. there no need to make a spectacle of it. Everyone is going to perceive this differently.. so.. keep it to yourself, because noone really cares howe you view it.
More power to you Grim. You got my support.

From: Groucho Mandelbrot These are all fabulous ideas and I'll be first in line when you get these sims up and running. Even if people are not as entertained as I would be, at the very least they will learn something about how others view the world. For example, I would really relish the chance to see an "America" sim made by someone who really despises us, such as an Islamic fundamentalist, or say yourself.
But I do think Auschwitz sim would be far more effective and educational. The Jew killing knife seems a bit amateurish.
P.S. This thread is a great stealth ad for the Grim Babies. I probably would have missed seeing them without it, which would have been a pity. Actually you missed the point and came up with a good idea on your own. Far from it, I dont hate America or Americans, I was just giving an example of being offensive for the sake of it. Which seems to be idea behind Grim Babies. And seriously, from an educational stands point, I really think your idea is fascinating. Many Western Countries are often so self absorbed, the general populous can't seem to grasp how their actions impact on or infuriate others around the world. This has nothing to do with Grim Babies! Why don't you get that? lol *Gets sick of saying the same thing over and over, then leaves to forget the assinine subject*

Gah elka, you promised me you don't reply and go to bed! Well, I agree Io can review his reply to elka and how he twisted her original message so conveniently. He practically denied her right to feel sick, about which I need to speak up and reinforce the point she made. Personally I find Grim Babies really fun and interesting, and actually am planning to buy one when they release something that makes me shout "awwww/yuuuuck". Yes I like gore stuff. And I do find torturing prim babies funny. But I won't shove it in the face of people who don't like that kind of stuff (by which I don't mean the Misfits did) such as elka, and I don't think she would call me sick bastard if I carried one of them around either. And that, I presume, is called respect. Even though the idea of torturing prim babies doesn't offend me a bit, I can guess how people may have different opinions about it. For instance --- this may sound out of place and silly --- every mention of nuclear missiles make my heart cringe. Even if it's a casual English phrase like "nuke them!" can scratch me from inside a bit, and yes, to be totally honest, even SL nukes can offend me (now go ahead and start calling me humorless twit ). That's because I've seen pictures of the victims repeatedly since childhood, been told the horror stories by the survivors, and generally am traumatised by the idea of nuclear bombs. I'm not offended by the words or scripted prims, but am shocked to realise how lightly people think of those horrible weapons. However, I will never go up to a SL nukes maker and say "hey I find your stuff disgusting, put it away somewhere I can't see" because it's ridiculous. I know full well that SL nukes don't vaporize people nor make them suffer for years to come. I know full well most of the people don't share my sentiment about nukes. But that doesn't mean I CAN'T or SHOULDN'T feel hurt inside now does it? My point (and what I think is elka's) is, people take things differently for various reasons, especially in this diverse world. And you can't just dismiss other's feelings and opinions just because they don't get your jokes. We can always afford a bit more of imagination and respect. Though I don't agree with the OP's harsh and dramatic attitude nor I never dig any form of roleplaying in SL (from pixel slapping to cooing to prims), I must say that the whole bandwagon attitude against her and her friend is rather extreme. And yeah, as elka said, kudos to the creators of Grim Babies. Your texturing and prim crafting work rocks! I need to hold my comment on the functionality till I get my copy though You can send me a 1L$ discount coupon for bumping the thread. kthx!

Let me repeat for the last time...My intent of coming into this forum was NOT to have it taking off shelves etc..( "hey I find your stuff disgusting, put it away somewhere I can't see" <-- NOT at all what I said. BUT I did need to feel to voice my opinion about Grim babies because of the IDEA behind it. Again. Lets look at the footnotes. Grim babies resemble Garbage pail kids, I liked Garbage Pail Kids, Garbage Pail Kids Did stuff to themselves. I like the design of Grim Babies...Very Creative on Grim and Socials part. Even the accessories are terrificly-wonderous (Need to use these words so its emphasized). I am too annoyed at the crying babies, Grim babies also cry etc.. etc..etc...but would never get to a point to buy a baby where the OPTIONS/IDEA Are to shake etc..and KILL THE BABY... I understand it is a prim and I do not think that the Grim Baby holders are child abusers in RL...All I was stating is the IDEA of abusing a child is SICK. So..We all agree in RL it is sick..Correct.Great. So, Why would you think someone wouldnt think it was sick in the game as well (Your friends obviously did if they were "waiting for protesters" So somewhere in their consious mind they thought...hey people may not like the idea...Geee Whiz! Well Hello..I don't and I am just as able as anyone here to vent that. The idea of child abuse in any way is SICK...Regardless of where it shows up. Done. Over with. Shouldnt have gotten this big. The only reason it wasnt a mostly negative forum was because their isnt 1 population or group to defend it , Otherwise this would not be the same conversation. Thank you Grim for your IM and your item was discarded. No need to give you more of what you want.

Dead Gage Pet Sematary is banned in Germany. I guess SL wouldn't have a fighting chance if LL were based there...

Just wanted to comment on this, and I am just commenting, no one is "attacking" no more than the OP was "attacking". I have read this thread down to your comments and I think everyone was just giving their opinions, just as you have. I have seen "attacking" in the forums and this time I don't think the word applies. From: Surreal Farber I'm not sure why so many people are attacking the original poster. I understand her reaction. She finds the concept disturbing regardless of it being flesh or roleplay. She doesn't want to be around the minds behind the acts/product. <snip>

Threads always end up two-sided fights. *sigh* And thank you so very much my dear Chie-chan for writing up in better words then I could have what I just tried to say. Even some people that I thought were my friends fired me back and encouraged Io, so I think this has gone a bit too far. I really should stay out of those kinds of convos in forum, silly me! Hehe. Have fun discussing it people. I am out.

Yesterday, I went to the Grim store and it was empty.
Today there're five other people in it.
If I were Grim Misfit, I'd be thanking you!

From: Katie Truss The idea of child abuse in any way is SICK...Regardless of where it shows up. Done. Over with. Shouldnt have gotten this big. But...it...is...not...a...child...it...is...a...prim A whole lot of people who would never ever harm a child somehow feel no emotional attachment or obligation to pixels on a screen. Imagine that! People who can distinguish between living, breathing human baby and pixels should have no problem with this concept. People who tend to confuse the two might. But then, their problems are much larger than Grimbabies and SL.

i just want to say i think this is one of the best things ive invested in sooo much better then the annoying pregancy things i tire of muting and the other boring prim babies i love my custom made grim baby payton and all of us have quite a good time with her. i take all of my friends to the shops so that they too can fall in love and have grim babies of their own why? because they are toys not real babies and they are fun
big cheers for my fun not boring grim baby
heck i may even buy one from each unique set or even buy one for each of my friends at christmas LOL
anyone that takes these seriously needs to step away from sl and realize what is rl and what is sl

Hey, I come back and all of a sudden I'm the bad guy! (girl) I don't remember "harshing" anyone. Although some of my replies were sarcastic, I don't believe I was deliberately mean to anyone who wasn't being extremely judgemental to the point of calling ME and those who like Grim Babies "sick" or "twisted" or even "trash". I didn't call anyone that kind of name, jeezus. I thought I was being rather rational, most of the time. elka, look over the one exchange I had with you and you will see I was hardly being evil to the point of drowning you out. Not with your opening volley, where you denounce it as "sick" and presuppose that anyone who likes them probably doesn't have children which was already proven incorrect. From: elka Lehane It's sick. And I DO have a big sens of humour. You have a serious problem if you think because I don't like dead babies joke that I have no humour... I just think that (I don't KNOW for sure but I GUESS) that 80% or more of the people that do those kind of jokes don't have kids... And I do. And I hate those prim babies disgustingness (if it's a word) and any other violent/gore things... And I am just 23, and plus I remember seeing those gross stickers when I was 6, and I still didn't think it was cool back then, it made my stomach squeeze. It's just a question of who/how you are I guess. What makes me freak out is that.. I STILL *respect* the makers and the buyers, SL is there to realize your dreams and etc, and I am like, okay cool if you like it... But why am I getting told I have no humour and stuff opposite? Why won't gore-ish people respect me? Dunno, but anyways, as I said I respect it, cept, I won't say it's all good, it's not (to my eyes). From: Io Zeno I didn't know prim babies were "alive". How do I "kill" a box with a texture? Just because you don't get the joke, doesn't make it "sick". People are most definately not "joking" about real dead babies, they are joking about someone cooing over a prim object for chrissakes. Don't "guess" about things when you are already coming from a state of extreme prejudice.

I agree with Io, I don't think anyone here has been attacking anyone else, excluding Prim babies, and talking tummies (shivers). When there is a disagreement there is always 2 opinions, or it would just be a post either All down with Grim, or All Yeay for grim.
Someone here could say "Elpha your opinion is such crap and I think its so stupid" but I know they mean my opinion about the post, not me in general. If your going to post be ready for the argument.
Maybe Elka could start a post about who likes her avitar and clothing designs (awsome stuff if I may say so), and Im 100% sure everyone would agree that either your avitar is great or your stuff is great, but this is a contravertial topic, so you have to expect that, even from friends. Don't let a silly post over a silly box come between you and your friends that love you.
Also I saw Grim himself selling babies while pickiting himself (priceless)!
