LOL the four of us can have a combined "E! True Hollywood Story" that will show our meteoric rise in intertwined segments and how it all came crashing down around us at the hands of Aimee Weber, ever resentful of not being a true Midnight. If Ms. Weebler was as powerful as Prok claimed, why wouldn't they let her change her name to Aimee Midnight? (For that matter, why aren't the last names "Illuminati" and "Bilderberger" available and whatever happened to the Grassy Knoll build? Huh!) someone shooting me after seeing one too many pictures of JellyBean Madison's new hair and blaming me. But you deserved that one. I'm just glad Snapzilla doesn't have sound ![]() _____________________

Discussions? What discussion? You get immediately offended and combative when anyone uses bigger words than you. Good grief, arrogance just oozes from you doesn't it! Just take a look back on this thread. The person who got offended and combative was you because I'd "heinously" dared to say your awards ceremony had as much validity and empowerment as Hamlet's list. Get a grip, would you. To fit in with my new "heinous" tag (still chuckling at that, thanks) I'm off to commit some crimes against humanity. All in a day's work. _____________________

I think Cory is on the list because Hamlet is star-struck.
Prok is on the list because he is undeniably influential but also because Hamlet hopes to wrap him up and put him to bed once and for all, which will never happen. Lists are a perfectly fun and legitimate journalistic tool. Hamlet just isn't very good at them. He might as well have titled it, "Who I Like and Don't Like and Why." coco _____________________

once, a couple of years ago, my partner and i walked out the door of our little floating temple in federal. we stood on the front steps and looked down at our land and house below. the view down the valley was interesting. you could see a leaded glass bong that was 4 stories high off to the left. to the right, along the shore you could see sinatra's hotel. big johns 4th house was being built, the one just before the club occured. there was a little shack behind it he had stashed some people in he had brought over from the sims on line i think.
we had to fly to our business in da boom. as we flew down the valley, that huge golden pyramid came into view, the one with all the entrances and rooms inside. the river that flowed out of the pyramid was pretty. that bean stalk also came into view, and yes, the huge man on a toilet. we ran into frankie building her 4th or 5th store and talked a bit. saw cristianos home and sassy apples waterfall. candy apple was building something, couldnt tell what. as we flew on, i thought to myself. this is an amazing and wonderful world. oh i guess i should mention lists here. lists. _____________________

??? Yeah I have to completely disagree with that. Who knows what Hamlet was thinking. I don't think Hamlet knows the difference between Influential and Controversial. In fact, judging by that list, I don't think Hamlet actually knows what Influential means. _____________________

Lists are a perfectly fun For some. For many, they're semi-tragic because they're taken "seriously". and legitimate journalistic tool. Nope. Not gonna happen. No good journalist would think of using the "list approach" except in parody. To do otherwise would be to spread disinformation for personal gain. But then, what do I know? I'm not on the list. ![]() |

Pissed some people off - but hey Grimmy did that , and with more style. Paving the way for others.
Likewise with Jenna - really didn't do anything that handn't been done before - by BJJ and Marilyn and co. Hell and BJJ probably had more 'influence' the blow ups in federal over lag/prims/etc/wayward sounds probably led to some of the feature changes in the way we handle tier/prims and spacially restricted sound. These things are rarely if ever indicative of the truths of the matter. For instance I'm known for scripting do-dads, probably a lot of people have my do-dads - but I'll never be in the same league as folks like Xylor, Jeffrey Gomez, Strife, Ironchef Cook, Bozo.. these guys are gods of scripting but a lot of folks would never know that. _____________________

/headdesk. *Edit* You're so right Cris. This will delight you to hear. I went through and picked all the people who were the most high profile figures in SL on my very own, then decided to spend thousands of dollars throwing them a big self congratulatory party to worship them, exalt them like Buddah- There was really no one else involved. It was a conglomeration of me and my opinions. My own self devised "IT" list in which no one else had any input, simply because I am that self important. I also danced around each one of the naked and chanted Benadictine tunes. I hope you feel smug now... you caught me. Behold drama at it's finest. Oh for fuck's sake, did I say you picked the list? Please can the theatrics, they are just silly. You are not even trying to listen. I said there was nothing wrong with personal lists, award shows, etc.. whether they are voted on or not. Nor is there any fundamental difference between them. They still ultimately come down to popularity contests, no matter what, and still end up having the same effect - feelings get hurt, egos are bruised and stroked, and life goes on. Do you honestly think your award show was comprehensive of the incredible amount of achievements out there, or somehow above it all and you can just sneer at Hamlet, simply because a limited number of people voted? Talk about smug - you can't take any criticism Forget it, you are impossible to have a discussion with. By the way, attempting to impune Moopf's intelligence by claiming he is intimidated by your use of big words is pretty ridiculous. You just don't like the fact that Moopf questioned your awards show originally in the midst of everyone else genuflecting. _____________________

Stay tuned for my "Where Are They Now?" expose in which I reveal my mental breakdown, laxative abuse, and give a tour of my van down by the riverside. ![]() Awww Chip, you can move the van from the riverside to Stardust for the expose, I will stage the event and we can have a lovely Ballroom dance afterwards..... Talk about smug - you can't take any criticism Forget it, you are impossible to have a discussion with. This statement I totally agree with. You make a very valid point, it was absolutely *NOT* as comprehensive as it could have been, and most certainly do I not represent it as such.. however it was a community result, regardless if 8, or 8,000 voted. And yes, I do not contest that popularity comes into play, specifically in the case where some nominees let peopl know and encouraged them to vote, that was part of the fun. I'm not sneering at Hamlet, I was offering my opinion in a thread about self made LISTS, not about events or anything of the such. In fact, had you bothered reading instead of looking to pick an argument to earn e-peen points on internet forums, you'd see I lauded him for involving the community... No matter what I say in response you will find something to bitch about, something to contest, and much like moopf, something argue about and disparge people over... I don't play the e-peen game, so at this point, I'll leave it to you guys. 8 people a community involvement does not make.

I have been in the hospital the past 8 days so I am coming at this whole conversation late in the game.
![]() Maybe people forgot what the first paragraph of Hamlet's story said..."influence and reputation goes to those with the will to build—objects and scripts, yes, and successful businesses, too, but just as important, unique personas who engage and enthrall." I don't think however this automatically translates into the "popular kids." Based on Hamlet's statement, while Prokofy certainly has been successfull in business, I think it is fair to say he falls more into the "engage and enthrall" category. Like it or not, Prokofy IS a engrained in the history of SL and contiunes to push the envelope. I really have to disagree with Cory Doctorow making the list because what, he has been in world 2 times maybe and both were to promote a book? Certainly Anshe is going to be #1 and she should be. She is the definition of power player in our world. What about Torley? Even though she is now a Linden, she wasn't most of her SL life. More than anyone else she had the charisma and passion to see to it that Second Life was a positive place for any who came into contact with her. She sees these world full of possibilites and has documented it amazingly in her blog. This isnt a popularity contest. Hamlet is simply writing a story on those residents he feels shapes the direction and furture of SL. No one should get all upset and take anything personal. ![]() _____________________

You call those who disagree with you a troll, that is typical. I wasn't bitching about anything. I responded to you talking about how destructive the lists were, and that they were not empowering. I didn't realize no one could respond to what you said. So sorry that I dared to question the all knowing and all powerful Phaylen. I was simply making a comparison that award shows are no different - no better or no worse. You are the one who brought the drama and histrionics into this thread, not me. _____________________
