Don't you rememeber your campaign against FIC? Except Prok IS FIC now so you'll conveniently forget, I'm sure. As will Prok. Can't beat this kind of entertainment.

I think it's hilarious.

In the annals of JUSTICE, you realize that you have hit the ultimate nail on the head...
Kudos Miss Ingersoll, my Prim hair is off to you...

I agree, though I miss the castles in Hawthorne. His builds were one of the big reasons I fell in love with Second Life. I clearly remember flying through the mainland sims (the only thing there was back then and far, far smaller), and suddenly coming across this nightime realm of gothic castles with pale, elegant vampires perched on the rooftops. I was so happy to make my first, pathetic build right there, and have them as such interesting neighbors. And then Flipper moved in next door and it all went to hell.. :p

Ha! I was in Hawthorne before you - just on the other side where I actually still have land to this day (much to Chase Rutherford's chagrin, heh). That was a fun community. Its a shame there was no way to "snapshot" regions back then (or now, really). I'd love to have seen a recreation. Oh well, to all things there is a time! :)

Regards,

-Flip

Top Ten in Categories

From: Jake Reitveld
if you are going to select a top ten list of influential people in SL, they should all be real residents with a presence of accomplishment in SL.

Hello,

The whole collective group of residents are
undoubtedly the most important gem in SL but a
growing list of individuals come to mind for
their contributions in separate categories:

1. Anshe Chung - entrepreneur
2. Barnesworth Anubis - overall talent
3. Desmond Shang/Alliez Mysterio/Dana Bergson - land game
4. Bill Stirling/Baron Grayson - building genius
5. Nephilaine Protagonist/Elika Tiramisu/Munchflower - clothing
6. Kat Kongo/Hamlet Au/Walker Spaight - press
7. Gwyneth Llewellyn - thinker
8. Apotheus Silverman/FlipperPA/Cristiano Midnight/Adam Zaius - ecommerce
9. Cubey Terra/Karsten Rutledge/Albion Steed - vehicles
10. Crystalshard Foo/Spankme Pinkerton/Ordinal Malaprop - scripting

Honorable Mentions:
Siggy Romulous,Luna Bliss,Marcus Fonzarelli - swimming, organic beauty, gadgets

The grid is growing so fast that a Top 10 may no longer be possible.

Although I appreciate the sentiment - and the good will (though probably just shitstirring) of the person that nominated me, I respectfully ask to be taken off the list of nominees.

These things have always irked me in the past - even the obvious joke ones rub me the wrong way.

So, I cannot in good conscience participate in something that I so absolutely oppose.

I thank the people who nominated me, I appreciate folks who enjoy my stuff - but to be honest your in world comments and support - the fact that you enjoy the somewhat retarded shit I make is the bigger reward, and more gratifying.

Thank you.

My opinion too - it seems every day I venture out of the lab I see something that totally blows my mind, from building to scripting, clothing, skins, and even the types of things I don't like (hair) I have to admire the artistry thats going into it.

The grid gets better and better and better.

People are taking old ideas and running with them into the extreme zones, and people are coming up with more and more new things every day.

I love it. But yes - you could do a top 100 broken into categories and not scratch the surface.

Tomorrow there may be someone that will revolutionize something again.

Well, I'm still taking nominations in that topic, and will be for the next 2.5 weeks. I'm sort of surprised how almost all the people who complained about the original list haven't bothered to propose a better one.

A better one?

How does one improve on meaningless inconsequential bullshit?

You don't get it. The better criticisms are all about the need or justification for such lists at all. And no, they're not really "fun", either - not really, unless you consider such things as putting a cat in a box and shoving a lit firecracker under the lid as "fun". ;)

You think people who complain about meaningless popularity lists should make their own, or nominate other names?

Reading isn't your strong suit, I'm guessing.

Well I did try to make it clear it was the list I was opposed to, not the choices. I also objected to the criteria of the choices, and the presentation. The only selection I would contest is Cory Doctorow.

I have read other blogs where they complain abot the specific choices, as well I think that sort of crap is awewful. The problem with a top ten list is there are too many people doing good things for this list to be inclusive. And By its nature it becomes exclusive. This list the presents its self as being based on some objective criteria, which implies that a lot of other worthy creative and influential people did not some how measure up.

This is the top forty list. I want album reviews. Thus I would be unahppy with any list.

Yes I agree to many people doing good things,
so lets not ever mention any of them as they releate to us because someone will get their nose bent out of joint because they weren't mentioned
