I was saying - what's the use of any of the stuff if we can't see or use it?

That was her SIMPLE message, and mine as well.

Yup, pretty ironic when you look at it. I don't think anyone will argue this with you.

I think you're a smart, talented person Coco. When things don't work, people get mad, and anger can make us lash out and do things out of frusteration. I have a modest technical knowledge about computer and SecondLife. I also pay monthly for land that I own that I can't fully use, and to fly awkwardly slow through land that only have one or two AV's in it. But I listen to the people who have been around here for a while and have a greater technical knowledge than myself who point out that they are hiring people to "fix" it.

What, do you want us to give you a seminar?

You're admitting you don't have the gas. When I'm not qualified to hold strong opinions on something as a result of my ignorance or inexperience, I don't. I advise you take a similar approach if you want to be taken seriously.

Unless those academic credentials of yours include a few credit hours in advanced OpenGL development.

I AM qualified to hold strong opinions.

My strong opinion is the game isn't working right, and they need to STOP coming up with neat new features and START making sure their updates don't break things so badly, worse than in any other game I've ever been in. I believe that is what Snakekiss was saying as well.

I don't need any credit hours in advanced OpenGL development - whatever that is - to know that, and neither do all the other players walking out the door over it.

How many players have walked out over this? Ballpark figure is fine. Do you plan on walking out because of this?

No, you don't need to know the technical specifics to see when functionality is not up to snuff. You do, however, need much deeper background if you're going to try to point to specific problems and demand solutions. You admit you don't have that and now you're even shaky on whether or not what you said mattered. I think it doesn't, unless you persist in asserting that you know how to prescribe specific solutions.

Man. I wish I'd attended the logic class you did! I bet it was fun!

I attended logic class at the University of Michigan, where I was in Honors College. In fact, that class stood me in such good stead in all my years since that I always told my girls that if they take nothing else in college, take logic.

But why do feel so strongly they need to STOP coming up with features if you "get the seperate job part", if you understand why they have seperate groups of people working on different things? Hiring QA's is a good step in the direction of STARTing making sure that updates don't break things so badly.

Because Cocoanut is now stuck on the tightrope between acknowledging she made a silly remark earlier and defending all the heel-digging she has done since. It's a real quandary, it is.

If they don't make any new features, then nothing breaks. If they add need features and something breaks, they need to roll back and take away the feature, but then nothing is broken, so they re-add the feature, and the cycle continues.

From my understanding of the issue, there is one really nasty texture bug that is really screwing things up. The HUD and the improvements in the attactments are so great, that people would rather have a slower client the give back the features. So, LL is really just giving people what they want. People will always want more. If all the bugs are fixed in 1.7, people will want HAVOK 2. Then when HAVOK 2 breaks a bunch of old stuff, people will want to remove HOVAK 2, and other will say we would rather have the bugs and HAVOK 2 then no HAVOK 2. Sometimes the road forward is not the smoothest road to follow, all we can do at this point is submit bug reports and hope that LL learns from the mistakes made.

The soundtrack is amazing too. We should get a bunch of SL Civ IV players together on a custom map that looks like the SL grid. :D

Damn, Kendra! I'm a modest person, and don't like tooting my own horn, but all this making fun of me just makes me HAVE to. Y'all can put all my informal writing in your signatures if you want to or not, but let me tell you, it has ZERO effect on the fact that I am paid some $4 per word for writing in the real-world national media -

- and you aren't.

As Chevy Chase might say.

And yet you need hubby's permission to spend an extra ten bucks a month on premium? Why not just promise to type an extra 2.5 words each month?

Yes, which is why I said that bit about them hiring more quality control, and how that would help, was the most useful thing to me in this thread.

And I don't sweat stuff like this much; it's not in my interest or purview.

I sort of sit around in SL doing my own thing; building, albeit much more slowly, keep my tier, write here to find out what is going on and when it might get fixed, get discouraged when I'm told this is how it is going to be and we have just been spoiled, get mad when I'm insulted and told I have no business to be here giving opinions at all, since I don't know what "client" means; and just basically biding my time till all the technological wizards get their act together.

I just hope there will be people left to buy my stuff IF and when they DO get their act together. It is painful to get all excited about all those new players and then have this happen, and essentially hear a bunch of gobbeldy-gook that says, well, see it's just we've been spoilded.

I ask the stuff to try to understand it, to get the answers, etc. - not to get the BLOODY FRICKIN HELL insulted out of myself every time! In real life, half my whole JOB consists of getting technical information from experts and translating it for people like me to understand. So I KNOW I'm doing the asking right.

Damnit, I make about $15 per hour in the real world. Which just goes to show, I need to be more like Coco, or Kendra. I really am attached to having male genetilia and being myself tho. :(
