I only tip a DJ if I request a song and they play it. In that case I tip them 25L - 50L depending on circumstances. As for dancers and hosts, I don't tip them at all. Sorry but I'm not paying people to shout "hi!" at me when I arrive, be all chatty with the regulars while spamming annoying gestures when I'm just trying to listen to the music and talk to my partner. Frankly as far as I'm concerned dancers are pretty much social campers and serve just about the same purpose: to make a club seem more social/busy than it would be if they weren't there. That's the owner's financial responsibility, not mine and I'm amazed that so many people buy into it.

tip what you can afford. as a Dj im not fussy, if you found me good enough to tip me, im doin something right!
![]() however if you wish to tip w/o seeming miserly, 250-300 Dj. Host/ess depends on how good they are, dancers, depends on what they are doin, if they are doin it with class, around 100-200l. me personally, tend to not tip if the dancer is being extremely vulgar in their "dancing". _____________________
There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

How vulgar is "vulgar" kinda depends on the venue ![]() if i got to someplace like the T*tty Twister, i do expect that kind of simulated stimulation. if i go somewhere where its billed as a dance club, and the dancers are basically doin the script from a sex club, then no. _____________________

The very short of it all is...........are you having fun? And if so, do feel it worth some lindens? How much is entirely up to you. DJ's, Host/Hostess, dancers........all the same criteria for me. And even you are having fun and have no lindens to spare..........it's still okay to come and have fun.

At Joe's house of RIbs and Gorean Paga Tavern, group sex in the corner isn't going to be out of the ordinary. While at Sara's tiddlywinks and Jazz club, even the nawlins style quickie flash would be way out of line. |

I usually tip any staff that greet me, then before leving I tip any that have obviously been putting effort in.
Usually $50L each, but if I am short I will tip something even down to $10L, but I will also acknowledge their efforts and thank them for their entertainment. _____________________

Heh- one night at a very old Goth/Vampire sim, I got the DJ to deviate from the usual EBM/Goth/Industrial stuff & play me a Polka tune.
That got him/her a $L1000 tip. ![]() Sometimes its good to go against the rules. ![]() And before the bitchin' starts- yea they're still working and still damn good at it. _____________________

No one is making money selling drinks or dinners. Clubs make money through tips and usually via cuts off the staffs tips. I really don't want to sound rude, but I'd suggest finding a nice cafe with no staff and good music might be a better place to hang out with your friends. _____________________

I think the away bit was about Dancers.. since managers and whatnot do stuff anyway, dancers only really do stuff if they're there, and only matters to you if they're there. Managers help keep the place running and such. Dancers just.. dance. Gesh like i dont know this.......... ![]() Dancers shouldnt be away reguardless...........Mangers shouldnt never have their away signs on. Many are doing more then you might think during event. Since most hold more them one position......... |

You might want to look at other places then. Some dancers are very, very good at what they do and work very hard for their tips. My first job in SL was as a dancer. I did it because it was a helluva lot of fun and fortunately it brought a lot of money in. I'm not ashamed to say I was damn good at it and made as much as L$10,000 in 15 minutes at times. But I really worked at it. I made every customer feel special. I quit when the repetitious silly sexual talk became boring. Now I will do it from time to time just because it's infrequent enough to be fun again. When I go to other clubs and there is a zombie dancer I'm always torn what to do. It's hard for me not to tip but I'd like someone to at least put a little more work into it than clicking "Dance" on a Pole. That's when I usually just tip L$20. _____________________

And if the staff isn't making money they will show up for work less and less, making it even harder to keep the venue going. |

Very true. And if the staff isn't making money they will show up for work less and less, making it even harder to keep the venue going. Lol, yep I've even seen one regular who never tipped at a club complain that the staff keep changing. 2 hours greeting people, dancing and talking erotically resulted in no other tips from 50 people execpt what I paid them. An escort was telling me how many guys knowing they are escorts get them up to the private skybox then refuse to pay for services because they wouldn't in RL and SL is only roleplay. "What? You actually expect me to pay you Lindens?" _____________________

Oh, how about all the vendor space most of them rent out to various people selling things? Again, if you're running a club and want a staff to boost its popularity, how is it the customers' responsibility to pay that staff for you? The only difference between most dancers working a club and a patron is the dancers gets to wear a club tag and beg incessantly, err, politely ask for tips because they are "working hard"...doing the exact same things everyone else there is doing. Sorry, but running a dance anim and chatting when you feel like it isn't any more work for them than it is for me. I've actually ran a club and guess what, I had no staff. Just me, a rented shoutcast server and my music. Somehow I managed to get by with just that but then again, I wasn't in it for the money. |

I think the away bit was about Dancers it was. i vividly remember once being in a club for 2 hours. one of the dancers never said a word. no "hello" to anyone coming in. no "goodbye" to anyone leaving. i started to wonder if he was at the keyboard at all. hence the "away" reference. |

My biggest beef with tipping at clubs, and I've seen it a LOT more with newer clubs lately, is the lame tendency to schedule large numbers of working staff for a single event. I'm wondering if they know having that many staff actually hurts their take for tips... I'm one who always tips respectfully and evenly, but when there's too many staff on hand, and if I'm being fair about it, then nobody gets tipped because I cant afford to be throwing down thousands of L$ like that to cover everybody, and I won't stoop to giving a cheezy 20 or 50L tip.

I work at a really excellent club. We get load of regular faces comming back again and again. So I know from experience that the average tip is 50LD and a generous one is between 100-250 and if you gave more than that I would dive off my pole and give you a big sloppy kiss.
I will say that our club has just installed Tip Jars that say Thank You to the tipper BUT I always am online and thank you personally. But then I also work a pole that has a dozen quality dance moves and it's fun making up routines. Also because people just seem to come back again and again we know those who usually generously tip may not have the money at that time also someone who just doesn't have the money if they tip a token at least they have actually registered that you are there which is lovely. OH and yup I agree that hosts and DJs should be paid more. There is more for them to do behind the keyboard. I put on my head phones to hear the music, type responses sometimes to the banter and by the time my shift is over I've had a laugh and feel totally relaxed. |

I frequent a particular country bar -- almost nightly -- so I know the DJ's quite well. I tend to be a heavy song requester with a tendancy to overload them, so for each song of mine they play I typically tip $100L per. Typically I tip the house $1,000L per week or more if I can.
If I go to a club where I'm not a regular, I tip the DJ $100L and the host $75L. I kind of consider that my "cover charge". |

Well in this particular case not tipping at all makes sense. In this one type of instance Shouldn't tip the managers or any "house" DJs either - they should be able to recognize the dancers are slacking off and bring it up in the group chat!. |

She'd come upset to whoever would listen. She didn't want to "Spoil the romantic mood" |

She didn't want to "Spoil the romantic mood" Well she actually always did mention the price, some guys still believed it was "just roleplay", one in the foyer even tried using "/me slips the $1000 into your panties and winking, motions you to the backroom" without any real transfer of money. _____________________

TP back to the pole and very vocally relate what just happened to all the other dancers/escorts and even customers........open chat embarrassment generally gets someone's attention. And never apologize either. But don't lie or slander or you might be subject to an AR.
