uhhh will be allowed to bet on the outcome of skill based games played in world?? Like if hockey teams get really popular can we bet on SL hockey games? hehehe.

From: someone
(1) (a) rely on chance or random number generation to determine a winner, OR (b) rely on the outcome of real-life organized sporting events,

Nope. No gambling on the outcome of RL events. I'm guessing that gambling on the outcome of a SL game of skill in which you are not a direct participant would be considered in the same light. Gambling on a SL game of skill in which you are a direct participant appears to be OK by the rules as written.

when did i proclaim my nation the beacon of prosperity and peace? my god i mentioned woomera by name, certainly not an attempt to whitewash oz. i think upon being told i was a 'have-not' i questioned whether super, public healthcare, and low crime was really being a have-not.
'attacks' on your country. you must be a real softcock if you think youve endured an attack on your country. i am trying my damned best to remain civil, but you make it a lot of work squeeze.

Sorry, lady, I am a little more than bilingual (portuguese, english, a little spanish and currently learning japanese), have traveled farther outside of my country than many Europeans do and have no illusions about the shape of my country. I also have no illusions about the shape of your continent.

Your country is not the shining beacon of prosperity and peace that you claim to be through your attacks on my country. I say again: Get over yourself.

I'm just glad that I know enough foreigners to know that your shitty attitude isn't that of the average European.

If a law in Europe affected the game I played I would deal with it or find another game. Curb your addiction. You can do it. We'll get through this together!

To the handful of "America is a sucky fascist dictatorship hellhole!" Europeans/Whereever-else that-isn't-America here:

You are the the loud-mouthed, ignorant, jingoistic rednecks of your country.

For every thing you can find wrong with our country, I can find something wrong with yours. You think our gambling laws are draconian? Well so do I. But I think your gun laws are draconian. I think your censorship laws are often draconian (German's anti-nazi laws, for example). Etc.

Unless you live in, or are talking about, some place like Zimbabwae, and you think your country is either the worst of the worst or the best place on earth by comparison, you're deluding yourself. We've all got a boatload of problems, and they do NOT get solved by arrogant, petty boasting and bickering and derision.

It doesn't say you can't bet on an IN WORLD sporting event... Just wondering...

That would be pretty cool, actually...like an SL Kentucky Derby or dog races where furries run or something.

If that was legal I'd sure go!

Personally, I would consider "public healthcare" as a have not. But then I am used to getting tests done the same day and having procedures the next day that people with "public healthcare" have to wait 8 weeks for.

Dont wanna derail the thread. I may not agree with racism and bigotry, but I'll defend anyones right to be racist or bigoted if they choose.

Censorship is censorship. Doesn't matter if it is the Nazis you are censoring or the Humane Society. Fight their bad ideas with good ones.

So you spent many years in America, so you obviously harbored an interest in America and its "ways," and for many years you enjoyed the benefits that Americans enjoy, but yet you chose to incessantly bash America and its citizens?

Typical.

So far you're right.

Anyway, I applaud LL for their move, kinda. They just should have made it back when casinos first became big time so as not to lead people on for so long and use them to help build their business. As much as I hate casinos, they deserve a little better than that.

Although anyone paying attention should have noticed LL's hints with the advertising ban and everything.

I do worry about this as an indication that LL will consider L$ as real money instead of game "credits" you can buy to use in world. This could potentially open a new can of worms as far as taxation and international trade.

Based on how little the government seems to understand the internet in general, they probably will have no grasp of SL and are liable to make some stupid decisions if this were to become a potential issue.

Germany has that law out of guilt more than any protection of rights. It's really a much lighter version of what they had to concede to after WWI...which caused WWII.

But anyway CASINOS...

Guilt doesn't explain those laws in England, France, and Canada.

Call it what you like. You just happen to be the most vocal and passionate America basher on this particular thread. You can hardly contain yourself, and that speaks loads of you.

Is that better for you?
