This one worked.. but if you see the timeline... was EARLY in SL... no charge for that stuff when I got here in 04 :) I think my very very first avie came in V1.2, but my then system couldn't run it ( that was may, 04 or so i think). I deleted before the free 14 day trial was up, and then got a new computer and came back in nov 04. been here since :)

This is great :) I just used Jim's hunt system and it went very smoothly. Looking forward to this event, Couldbe!

:)

That's what I'm hoping for - along with reminding everyone where we are.

How right you are... although after all the years in here, seems a lot more than that is murky... as i tell my friends... um... I've slept at least once since then, you want me to remember what?

When we protested putting mature & PG land side by side, they *knew* what they were doing. now we have a mass shuffle to Zindra and a new *adult* rating, because of it.
If they had simply enforced the rules from the beginning, PG would have STAYED PG, and Mature was everything else, simple.

~Brie

So true. We tried during beta to get them to rethink mixing PG and mature together. But they have ever been of two minds on sex in second life. One moment permissive the next moment puritanical.

Just jumped in the thread to comment on the days of the prim tax. Many a gorgeous build got pulled down because the owner could not afford to keep them rezzed in-world. We got used to a lot of fluidity and impermanence under the prim tax regime. The upside, the SL-scape was constantly changing. The downside, it was a weekly struggle to keep your stipend in line with your tax liabilities. If you built too much and did not socialize enough (you needed ratings from other residents to increase your stipend) you could end up in negative lindens which meant you either pulled down your build or stayed broke all week.

Good times, eh? :p

I agree with everything here about the rules changes, but care to explain at what time has there EVER been 1$ per prim rezzed? Since Nov 04, when my first alt got to SL, its been by parcel restriction. The first land, the 512, had 117 prim limit. The fact that the Lindens constantly change the rules is not due to the fact the residents abuse them, its more so the fact they do not think things out properly, and do NOT listen to the residents when we say.. "that will/won't work". They screw themselves, and us to, more times than not by their failure to pay attention.

Actually, there were various changes to the ways and prices the Lindens charged per prim. They were called "prim taxes" and were assessed week to week. Apparently the Lindens went with the current system of allocation by parcel sizes some time in 2003. I have a freebie house that, in its instructions, warns that the the house will be expensive to rezz and furnish. There were also changes to the way Linden dollar stipends were awarded. Anyone remember dwell or avatar ratings?

ONE of the reasons the Lindens change the rules IS in fact because of resident abuse. That's why we have no more first land. Towards the end, first land was bought up by the alts of land barons who snatched it up for a L1/sqm and sold it for L10 and higher. As I recall land prices were pretty crazy in those days.

But my point wasn't to place blame on Lindens OR residents. It was just to state what should be obvious to anyone who's been around for a while. The rules of the game change.

OK, so I misremember some of the details. But thanks to the oldbies who remember the prim taxes and beat me to it.

re email adult content
07-26-2009 16:14
Having closed the ticket and removed adult content, we received the email re adult content, it is very difficult to check every parcel in every region, so have requested Lindens to pinpoint the location for us, anyone else done this with success please

Yes. But in one thing, they are constantly on a 100% tolerance level:

If an avatar is penetrated by a blue steel 44 bullet, or inseminated by shell splinters, or forked by a steeply erected surface-to-surface missile and other sorts of caressing violence, then is Linden Lab enormous and endless permissive, happy and satisfied.

Homicide, murder, blood and thunder and explosion-cult is so very ok for them, that they're seeing no need to move such expressions and activities to Zindra-Alcatraz.

We still had ratings/dwell when i got here... and ratings were a mere 2L each, then they jumped to 25, then they disappeared. :)

Its not often i run into many people that have been here since 04/before, i think i came into Sl about the right time to still get dwell/ratings and miss the prim tax... :P

And i thought i was old in sl, lol.. glad to see some folks been around longer than me and are STILL around ;)

double prim?
07-27-2009 00:53
Does anyone know if there are still double prim parcels on Zindra that are not yet given away? I have to provide a few links to double prim parcels but do not have the opportunity to search for hours (no fast internet where I am staying).

well i had washed my hands of land dealing already, so the zindra thing hasnt really hit me.
ll have stroked me at every opportunity, from first land to openspace with a devalued estate in-between. i learnt that ll simply are not trustworthy and will rip its own customers if they suspect thier customers turn a profit. ll want ever single bit of profit to go to them, and they have no shame doing whatever it takes to make that happen.

Never mind my last question, I found some parcels that would fit my needs. Already got a parcel, but I requested a change and get a pretty fast reply. Now lets see if I get one of the parcels I really wanted :-)

Only usually when the rez date is irrelevant to the points being made, someone asking about prim taxes and someone who was here when they were in use pointing that out is pretty relevant don't you think?

The same as when people point out certain types of furniture or poses weren't available in 2003/2004. It's useful for the person to call out someone else making claims about things that weren't here.

Older avatars are a wealth of information, I'm not in favour of them not discussing older times when the topics arise.

Sounded right to me. My only intention was to add to the information, not correct. :)

Yes, so the interesting thing to note, is that there are topics upon which they CAN be consistent and predictable. Sex is just not one of them.

I lurk a lot. It's hard for me to maintain the same level of involvement, but it is interesting to see how SL grows, changes and adapts. Glad to see you are so involved and active after so many years. Hang in there!

Don't know what this is about, but I'll provide self admonishment. *bad Bel, bad bad Bel!*

Got my parcel at 20-7, but not the double prim I asked. When I commented on that, it was no problem switching. Today I claimed 4 parcels of 1024 sqm divided by protected walking paths. Trading one 4096 single prim for 4 double prim parcels is not a bad deal :)

What I did there was launched the latest viewer and searched only with the adult box ticked, I searched for my land group name as that returns all my group parcels. The parcel that showed up had "BDSM" in the description so I'm assuming that's why I was emailed.

Thank you will try that, too, does anyone know if the casino type places are considered adult?

I have seen absolutely nothing even implying that nudge-nudge-wink-wink-games-of-skill are restricted to Adult land.
