Wow! I *knew* all those old "Penthouse" and "Playboy" magazines would come in handy someday! :)

I'm not sure if this is a viewer or server thing, or some ripple in the improbability field, but:

My Zindra land is deeded to a group that has always had some pretty "adult" terms in its Charter. Starting very recently--I first noticed it yesterday--the *name* of the group no longer appears on About Land, nor in the build tool when a group-deeded object is selected. Instead, it shows ";(???)(???)" regardless of the ratings preferences of the viewer. (To see it for yourself, go to http://slurl.com/secondlife/Wendersley/147/141/21 and look at About Land.)

Did we know this was going to happen? Is it *supposed* to work this way? And how did it start happening? (I've been using the 1.23 viewer since it was a wee RC; *maybe* it's the 1.27 server, but I'm surprised I didn't notice it until yesterday, if that's the case.)

Can anyone else with an adult-chartered group confirm that the same thing is happening? Or if not, does this mean the group's data is corrupted in the database?

it's an old bug that seems to have resurfaced with a slightly different display. You'll see it on objects, worn items and anywhere that would normally display the group. It seems to have arrived with the 1.27 release. Certainly I've only seen it in zindra but that's because I don't have workshops on the mainland anymore so I haven't been doing any building over there.

I read in a thread that was talking about it (I have no idea where it was now) that to clear it you need a sim restart. Whether that's true or not I don't know, but it can't hurt to ask for one and see if that fixes it.

This is happening all over, not just on Zindra.
Thanks... that's actually a relief. Do you know if it's been reported? Am I correct that it's just for groups with adult Charters, and that it's a bug? (I guess... in 1.27 server??)

Not even that. It only went to people with adult content currently. Not only that, but only to the ones they know about.

They really should have sent that to every current resident of SL. Do they have a crystal ball to tell them who needs notification? What happens if someone 'comes to their attention' next week but can prove they had content all along?

I think that it was generated by search hits- Including those of us who no longer own anything but Zindra land.

Thanks for the info. I very much doubt that it's sim related, actually... at least not the thing I'm seeing. I've tried it on 5 different sims and about a dozen groups. It happens on every sim, but only with the group with the adult Charter. I tried making another group have an adult Charter, but it behaved normally (although Search wouldn't have had time to index it yet and blackball it, if that's what's happening).

unless it has something to do with the group holding adult land then it has nothing to do with the type of group. My groups are pg groups and are landholding and are displaying it.

More Lady Chatterly, please! Or maybe Lady Lovelace, for a nice steampunk-themed porntopia?

I could agree with that as well. :) Practically *anything* would be better, including flat grass with unlocked landscaping tools.

It's just that LL described what they built as a "city", rather than a "suburb", and my idea of "Urban futuristic" is movies like "Blade Runner" "Fifth Element" and suchlike- especially for the porn gulag, you'd think that things would be a little less... Well, Disney.

Nothing to do with adult at all, I'm getting it for my normal land groups. Strange thing was it was reported to me by a resident a week or so ago in a certain sim but I wasn't seeing it, contacted concierge anyway and they told me an engineer would fix it and promptly did so, my resident told me it was indeed fixed.

Now I am seeing it in other sims, but none adult related.

! hmmm... Odd. Okay, I guess I'll suspend disbelief and chalk it up to coincidence that it's only happening to my one adult-chartered group, among all the ones I have that own land.

Thanks again!

My (heraldic) proposal: A pair of near-naked dancers, male and female, black and white harlequin-fashion, balanced on the back of a white circus elephant, rampant, on a green field. Above, the title "ZINDRA". Below, a pair of poseballs, pink and blue, and the motto "We got your Rule 34 right here".

Or possibly "Nos usus vestri Sceptrum Triginta-quattuor hic!"

Sorry, I can't make my recommendations for a suitable Zindra flag, not in a PG forum.

I noticed (???) (???) a week ago but don't have a clue why its like that I'm afraid.

I have seen the same problem using the 1.22.11 client, even with strictly PG Groups in a PG sim that has NEVER in the life of the sim has any adult keywords in search. So it's a glitch in the servers not correctly communicationg the group info. Not in any way related to the Adult Content restrictions, search, or the 1.23.4 client.

In case someone can't wait any longer for the land swap and/or wants a store to rent. I have 2 or 3 small stores for rent on Zindra, next to our building. Beautiful brick shop-building and excellent location close to Pengallen Bridge. Reasonable rent: 350 L (max. 50 prims) per week. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Gianno/120/90/52

There is a huge change in attitude on this Zindra board. The anger has subsided and now the trend is how can we make Zindra wonderful. Its the typical response, the haves are very happy.

happy???

I've seen my sales plummet for the last couple of months because of the the uncertainty, I've spent hundreds of hours trying to work out what is going on. I've just had to close 3 shops, countless workshops, build a new shop, and move around 6,000+ prims in a two week period **and** try to keep my business going.

I'm now in zindra where on a good day my traffic is around 500 - down from 3-5,000 and the majority of people I sell to are other merchants - which means it's a pretty limited market that isn't likely to continue.

There are other legitimate merchants that didn't get the swap and they're now in the position where they either have to close down or put their hands in their pocket to buy zindra land *and* lose whatever money they spent on their original mainland because prices have fallen through the floor.

Just because you didn't want to follow the swap rules put down by LL and sex up your land to pretend to be a commercial business to get the swap but still applied and grumbled because you didn't get it is not our problem.

So to answer your original question. Yes, we are trying to make the best of this and I suggest you find somewhere else to vent.

Trust me I am not at all happy with what has happened and how it has happened that's for sure and I genuinely feel for ALL of those that have not been granted a move so far because everyone on mature land should have been entitled imho.

Financially it has cost us, but we are lucky as our company foots the bill, but there are so many more that this has crippled in so many ways and they may not recover and leave SL and that would be a shame for many differing reasons.

The moves have consolidated people yes I agree there and people are pulling together to make the best of it and to help others out and maybe a sense of community has re emerged in all of this, but I bet the vast majority of us feel for those that LL have screwed over as we have been in this together from the start.

This will go down in SL history as one of the biggest FU's ever. I am just glad that all of us have been able to document it on our server outside of LL control so it will not get lost over time.

I for one will continue to fight for those that I can and will continue to make space available on our servers to continue to document this and ensure that the historical record is kept for the future.

Just my thoughts though ;)

I don't have the skill to create that. I'm just applying my SCA-influenced understanding (or misunderstanding) of heraldry.

The white elephant because, well, it is a bit of a white elephant. Green for Linden Labs slogan. Circus trimmings because it's been such a circus. Harlequin-colored dancers because SL transcends race and even species (the next step beyond Benneton). Poseballs and motto, well, they're obvious.

You're telling people they shouldn't be bitter about people who cheated because they were too ethical to do so? Pshaw!

She's not though, she's being bitter at those who had to go through the swap and are now trying to make the best of it and recover some of the lost ground.

Bitterness towards LL is fine but this is just misdirected sour grapes towards the people who were *forced* into uprooting.

LL set this up to be gamed and they expected people to follow their rules. Whether we like it or not that's the way it was.

Where has any of the regulars in this thread shown they have "forgotten"? They are deciding to make the best of their situation, and perhaps by doing so they will be able to help those who didn't get in on the free swaps. Be bitter at LL all you want, but there is no need for residents to tturn against each other. Of course, that is standard LL policy, get us fighting amongst ourselves so we can't keep the heat on them.

I think this grossly confuses "resignation" with "happiness". Some of us resigned ourselves to this mess early on (*possibly* prematurely--*maybe* there was room to negotiate a better outcome; we didn't think so, but that's a valid objection), and began trying to figure out how to make the best of a bad situation well before the swap started. Now we all are resigned to our fate. And all that's possible to do is that bit about making the best of a bad situation.

Yes, it totally sucks for those who didn't get the Zindra swap--and not just those who should have been "entitled" to it according to LL's stupid swap rules. (If anybody is in that situation and needs a place to rez vendors or the like, I'm happy to offer for free what space and prims I can spare to anybody screwed by LL. Unfortunately, mine is a "city" parcel, so I can't divide it up for separate Search names and descriptions, landing points, traffic, etc.)

It sucks for those still waiting on the swap, too. Just there aren't as many of them as there used to be.

Which reminds me of an interchange at Jack's office hour this week. He said that there was a total of 850 swap tickets, and that was fewer than they'd expected. Somebody (evidently not affected by Adult Content) commented that it was dramatically fewer than the number expected by Adult Content folks, and speculated that members of any group overestimate the size of the group to which they belong.

I suppose that's a nice enough way to say that we're too big for our britches. :o
1 ... 81 82 83 84 85 86 87 88 89 ... 120
