/me lets a slightly distant and dreamy smile play across her face as she lingers mentally over the sex scene between Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon in *Bull Durham* . . . :)

Well, that's the key, always, isn't it? Whether a particular type of scene contributes to the narrative or themes of a given movie, right? Too often the violence, sex, and vulgarity is gratuitous because some idiot has decided that sex, violence, and poo-poo jokes are THEMSELVES, in their own right, what people pay to see. This, I think, badly underestimates the intelligence of most of the viewing public.
I agree with everything in this post.

Well, after all my complaining in another thread about my lack of Linden Bears, Chris took pity on me, and sent me a NORSE Bear of my own! Yay!!!!

I was going to take this shot with me sitting on the bear's lap . . . he's big enough, after all . . . but the damned thing kept pawing at me . . . :D
lol. Way cooler than a Linden Bear.

Possibly the best vanity shot ever. (If I weren't so lazy it would definitely inspire me to work on some of my own.)

Dang Josh. If I weren't so lazy this would convince me to finally put the effort out to learn how to make machinima videos. I can't wait for your next one. (I'm still chuckling)

I think those are basically HUDs that attach to your viewer, so for instance you could make a polaroid type "frame" in a PS type program with the centre portion transparent .. you throw that on a square prim and attach it as a hud to the centre of your viewer so it can frame your pics like you were taking a polaroid snapshot. I've seen many freebie versions of those types of things around and I think AM Radio has a freebie one available at one of his art installations.

Hmm good question, but I assume if you make below a certain amount you might qualify for some form of subsidized plan? I dunno though, Rio or Seven could probably answer it much better than I can cuz I have my magic commie universal health card :p

This might answer some questions though http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=cagoterminal&L=2&L0=Home&L1=Health+Care&sid=Cago&b=terminalcontent&f=healthcare_mandatory_health_insurance&csid=Cago

Presumably under paid and jobless people don't have too much to lose when it comes to paying income tax...

Thanks Kaimi! I only wish that my stuff was like anything like good machinima out there. It would be fun to actually make a real one but it's a ton of work with all the editing and stuff you'd have to do after. I have a friend that acts in some machinima productions for one of the Gold Star Providers LL sanctioned businesses and she's been in machinima film festivals and stuff. Really nifty and very professionally done.

I may end up making little product demo videos for my crappy store which is what I originally intended. Who knows when I'll get around to that though because I get distracted doing silly things ^^. The basic process using xfire is really really simple. After you dl and install the free xfire program, essentially you just hit a two key combo to start recording and do it again to stop recording. It then asks you to name your video and then does all the complicated encoding/uploading stuff automatically and within a few minutes it's on the website. Super simple. There's also an sl machinima wiki page that will help you do fancier things like how to remove the viewer interface so that doesn't show and tricks on how to manipulate your camera but if you just want to just make a quick vid like I did, it's quite easy. Feel free to hit me up if you want me to walk you through it or if you have problems getting it to work!! It's quite fun and I think you'd enjoy it.

lol...I just posted this pic in the thread about avatar customization.

Remember when we did this project, back in October 2008?

The first pic is a library skin; the second (upper righthand corner) is a newbie freebie called Tiffany.

thanks. I'm home ill, I assume all this dental work has lowered/taxed/pried upon and ravaged my immune system, leaving me wide open for foreign invaders. So I've been ill more often since all this started back on October 24 2009.

oh ugh Lexxi. i'm sorry. i HATE being sick. i get all pissy. fortunately, i don't get sick often, and it's usually mild... i have a pretty high tolerance for pain and inconvenience (agree only if you can stand my whining LOL)

A dilemma.... :o (What would you do?) I received in the mail, a survey, from the RNC. It said things like 'polling you, and other like minded Republicans'.......we need input like yours today, someone with Republican values, who believes in our agenda......verbage like that.

It was addressed to me, used my full name in fact including middle name. Correct mailing address. Problem is I'm not a Republican. My husband is though. He didn't get one. Should I:

1) Take the survey and return it, it was addressed to ME. Would be unexpected results for them......
2) Send it back with a nice note that they need to check their records, as I am not a registered Republican, and they have made a mistake.
3) Give the survey to my husband to take, even though 'he' is not 'me'.
4) Drop it in the round file
5) Pie

What do YOU think?

i vote for 1 or 4 (5 is a given :D )

I am lol. Those are old pics, I have enough of the things to last a lifetime.

I just needed a break from revising about the gastrointestinal tract in hydras. :/ I so did not choose biology to study in detail how an animal eats through the same hole it passes waste through. Or how bunnies eat their own poo to get the most nutrition from their food. :(

We in the US have a problem with this whole health-care debate, which is that the insurance companies are in the middle of it. Since there is such an intrenched vested interest, the debate is framed in terms of how to pay the insurance companies, rather than how to provide services.
You got that right. It's like having tobacco industry controlling the committee that's trying to work out strategies for helping peole stop smoking.

From: Lexxi Gynoid
"Despite our best efforts . . . .your avatar has been turned into a mushroom and then accidently smoked."

mmphs, I was in middle of blog post :(
Who among us has never had *that* happen? *HUG* Lexxi.

From: Rioko Bamaisin
Massachusetts actually has a very good health plan for those living under the poverty line. Most instances there are no fees besides small co pays on prescriptions and doctor visits, but if you make a bit too much, you might have to pay a small monthly premium. Also, I believe all employers are required to offer some sort of health plan up here.

ETA-there is no cost at all for children under 19 or pregnant women on the plan.
If only it didn't get so COLD in New England.

From: Rioko Bamaisin
Also, the co payment can be waived at any time indefinitely, if you can't afford it at the moment. It is a good system and probably the reason we are called Taxachusettes. But at least we take care of our own. Even those who don't really deserve it and abuse the system, unfortunately.
Deciding who deserves it takes a lot of human power and is one of the things that makes health care assistance so expensive to the government. Personally I believe that there are some things that everyone deserves, even people we don't like.

You know about Koalas, right?

The baby koala at around the age of four months eats a type of green faecal pap produced by the mother which inoculates its intestines for a gum leaf diet. It is different in content to a normal koala dropping. [/ quote]

It's true. This is the method of obtaining bacteria they'll need for coping with eucalyptus. The leaves happen to be poisonous. Being very considerate, the mothers produce a form of excrement often termed pap, and that's where the growing critter gets its delivery of digestive assistants from.
