It means more than that. Everyone has to have health insurance, even if they are not employed.

that's very laughable. i mean, if you have no $ how do you pay for it?

Massachusetts actually has a very good health plan for those living under the poverty line. Most instances there are no fees besides small co pays on prescriptions and doctor visits, but if you make a bit too much, you might have to pay a small monthly premium. Also, I believe all employers are required to offer some sort of health plan up here.

ETA-there is no cost at all for children under 19 or pregnant woman on the plan.

ok. you answered what i was listening for. thanks. :)

Also, the co payment can be waived at any time indefinitely, if you can't afford it at the moment. It is a good system and probably the reason we are called Taxachusettes. But at least we take care of our own. Even those who don't really deserve it and abuse the system, unfortunately.

thanks. I'm home ill, I assume all this dental work has lowered/taxed/pried upon and ravaged my immune system, leaving me wide open for foreign invaders. So I've been ill more often since all this started back on October 24 2009.

And to rub salt into the wounds of despair and ill health, boxes I've purchased and then rez keep taking money from me without asking. It can happen, has happened in the past. In the past, though, I owned the box, so when I "purchased' the box the money "went" to me. This time it went, two times, to two different creators. The despair used above was used for one of the items was a hair called Despair, so it seemed fitting.

We in the US have a problem with this whole health-care debate, which is that the insurance companies are in the middle of it. Since there is such an intrenched vested interest, the debate is framed in terms of how to pay the insurance companies, rather than how to provide services.
That is the most succinctly I've seen it put so far.

Hmm good question, but I assume if you make below a certain amount you might qualify for some form of subsidized plan? I dunno though, Rio or Seven could probably answer it much better than I can cuz I have my magic commie universal health card :p

This might answer some questions though http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=cagoterminal&L=2&L0=Home&L1=Health+Care&sid=Cago&b=terminalcontent&f=healthcare_mandatory_health_insurance&csid=Cago

Hey!!! I've got one of those too!

(I'm expecting to be arrested momentarily for defrauding the health insurance system for this . . .)

A dilemma.... :o (What would you do?) I received in the mail, a survey, from the RNC. It said things like 'polling you, and other like minded Republicans'.......we need input like yours today, someone with Republican values, who believes in our agenda......verbage like that.

It was addressed to me, used my full name in fact including middle name. Correct mailing address. Problem is I'm not a Republican. My husband is though. He didn't get one. Should I:

1) Take the survey and return it, it was addressed to ME. Would be unexpected results for them......
2) Send it back with a nice note that they need to check their records, as I am not a registered Republican, and they have made a mistake.
3) Give the survey to my husband to take, even though 'he' is not 'me'.
4) Drop it in the round file
5) Pie

What do YOU think?

It is pretty! I only looked at it for a second, I promise.

At any rate, it's better to wake up to than a picture of a naked senator.
