I enjoy a good steamy scene, I bet even Scylla does, but sometimes there is a movie or TV show where it happens and it's like..."There is no way a sex scene belongs there." And even F bombs should be strategically placed, unless of course it is a Mafia Movie. /me lets a slightly distant and dreamy smile play across her face as she lingers mentally over the sex scene between Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon in *Bull Durham* . . .   Well, that's the key, always, isn't it? Whether a particular type of scene contributes to the narrative or themes of a given movie, right? Too often the violence, sex, and vulgarity is gratuitous because some idiot has decided that sex, violence, and poo-poo jokes are THEMSELVES, in their own right, what people pay to see. This, I think, badly underestimates the intelligence of most of the viewing public. _____________________

I know to leave my brain at the door and just enjoy it, but I think in a lot of "serious" films, it just detracts. The other day, I was in a friends car and she has Sirius radio. We were litening to Opie and Anthony, who have been lomg favorites of mine when they were on regular radio. This was the first time I heard them on satellite. Between them and 2 quests, the F bombs were flying all over the place, most in places where they really weren't needed for any effect. It seemed like they were getting in as many as they can just because they can. |
