Since my last post earlier today,Martha's campaign has called three times. How is this not harassment? I really don't understand why this is allowed.

And he worked in a time long ago forgotten unfortunately.

Yes, because everyone who works for the government now is a complete and total bastard.

I really hope she loses, just for irritating me! She won't though, since this is primarily a democratic state. I wonder if I can get her home number so I can call her when she is making dinner, playing with the kids or trying to get some work done.

Tell the next caller they've convinced you to vote for her opponent.

But she is idealistic, conscientious, loyal, resourceful, very smart, and good at her job. So I like her.

Yes I must agree, despite her many character flaws there is something quite endearing about her.

At this point, it looks like Brown will get to drive his little truck to Washington,
and Martha will stay in Massachusetts as Attorney General.

Ahhh, now Mass. gets to do a zillion recounts and the Dems will probably still take it to court somehow.

ETA: I'll be damned, she conceded without a recount.

I doubt it. It's pretty clear. It doesn't even look like a squeaker.

Yeah, but some of the media folks were wondering if she would battle it just for the sake of dragging it out.

um, think I've had a bit too much alcohol. Damn free bar got the best of me. I'm in danger of falling asleep into my bowl of cereal lol (I had the munchies when I came in).

Fingers crossed the hangover isn't too bad and I can turn up to my lecture tomorrow without being still drunk/hungover.

Who would have thought, Mari of all people would betray me.

I heard her giggle as she skipped over my lifeless body.

Ugh. I voted for her, I wanted her to win, but I have to say she would be an idiot to do anything other than concede gracefully.

It's been clear for a while that it was a close race, and the polls consistently gave him the edge.

I think it's due to a lot of things - one is the personal factor. He did come off as a regular, likeable guy, and he campaigned a lot harder and better. Plus, there is Kennedy fatigue. Even people who loved Ted Kennedy felt that someone else deserved a shot. I don't know how much the healthcare debate had to do with it, but he did campaign very strongly against Obama's bill.

I'm a bit down about it. I'm really disappointed. Maybe he'll rise to the office. I hope so.

Now doesn't Mass have one of the lowest levels of uninsured in the US? I'm wondering if that had an influence on the senate race being that folks might be wary of a potentially expensive federal program when state level initiatives like in Mass seem to be working?

Health insurance is obligatory in Massachusetts, so the health insurers have to provide some affordable programs.

But insurance costs in Mass on average are the highest in the US.

OMG Brown was a Cosmo centrefold! LMAO

I'm a bit of a political junkie and American politics are always so fascinating. Things are so tame up here in comparison.
