OMG Brown was a Cosmo centrefold! LMAO

I'm a bit of a political junkie and American politics are always so fascinating. Things are so tame up here in comparison.

he's a R and he's cute. he'd get my vote. :p

exactly what does that mean? that employers MUST provide a health plan to every employee?

I think it means you must be enrolled in some basic type of health insurance, otherwise you get dinged somehow with your income tax and you lose certain personal exemptions without proof of health insurance.

Hmm good question, but I assume if you make below a certain amount you might qualify for some form of subsidized plan? I dunno though, Rio or Seven could probably answer it much better than I can cuz I have my magic commie universal health card :p

This might answer some questions though http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=cagoterminal&L=2&L0=Home&L1=Health+Care&sid=Cago&b=terminalcontent&f=healthcare_mandatory_health_insurance&csid=Cago

From: someone
At first glance, high school senior Lucas Faber, 18, seems like any ordinary gay teen. He's a member of his school's swing choir, enjoys shopping at the mall, and has sex with other males his age. But lately, a growing worry has begun to plague this young gay man. A gnawing feeling that, deep down, he may be a fundamentalist, right-wing Christian.

Don't care if you posted it before...I'm happy you did so today! Very nice. Yummy, in fact.

It means more than that. Everyone has to have health insurance, even if they are not employed. At least that's my understanding.

We in the US have a problem with this whole health-care debate, which is that the insurance companies are in the middle of it. Since there is such an intrenched vested interest, the debate is framed in terms of how to pay the insurance companies, rather than how to provide services.

He *is*? I guess if you don't look at his face or hair.

(this rest is a repost from SC)

I had wondered why Brown's wife was absent from the campaign... I just saw her picture on TV and recognized her. She is a local news anchor, on Boston's WBZ (a CBS affiliate).

My first reaction was oh, so she hung back out of a sense of propriety. But on second thought, I don't see that she would really need to, even if she is immediately recognizable.

AND their daughter was an American Idol contestant. I remember her, too: she's a basketball player, very competitive, super-tall, nice looking. NOT a singer. But she believed that her sports training and competitiveness could make her win. (It didn't.)

Massachusetts actually has a very good health plan for those living under the poverty line. Most instances there are no fees besides small co pays on prescriptions and doctor visits, but if you make a bit too much, you might have to pay a small monthly premium. Also, I believe all employers are required to offer some sort of health plan up here.

ETA-there is no cost at all for children under 19 or pregnant women on the plan.
