How about those Cardinals? What a game!

I heard it was very exciting.

I just made Hot Toffee Sauce for my icecream. Yummy.

I did take a picture, but since the icecream started to melt as soon as I put the sauce on, it looks quite disgusting :/

ETA: it was so good that I now have a sugar headache lol.
That sounds good, Claire. Could you post the recipe?

Not that I've seen!

I was glad to find good bowling shoes, though. Also glad that a Linden passed me a copy of a bowling shirt he'd intended for that alley in Bay City.

I have bowling shoes from Jeeper's Creepers. And I think, technically, one or two of the shoe pairs I got at the man fair are and/or can be used for bowling. I mean wearing while bowling, not used as a bowling ball.

For 3:
Its hard to see really...

For Kaimi:

It was pretty thin, but I dunno how to thicken it up and didn't have time to play with it too much.

4oz Light Brown Sugar
4oz Butter
100ml full fat milk/cream

Put the sugar and butter in a pan and cook till completely dissolved, don't let it burn. Stir in the milk slowly and keep on the heat till it starts to bubble. Take off the heat and serve.

The recipe said it can be poured over ice cream, sponge puddings, fruit... I bet if I did manage to get it a bit thicker it would be nice on popcorn :p

Mo, I don't think so. I use trial and error, but there is a method in my madness.

1. Start with the biggest surface. Texture it the way you want, with the texture sized to give you a pattern you like.
2. Line up an edge of something...the edge of a board, a line of tiles, with one edge of the surface. If you are resizing in two dimensions, do the same for one of the other edges.
3. Apply the texture to the next surface. Scale it so that it's sized (by eye) the same as the first surface.
4. Start tweaking the offset until the texture aligns with the first one. If needed, go back and re-tweak the scaling. (It probably WILL be needed...as you get close to a match, differences show up more).

For an example of what I mean, take a look at the back exterior wall of my A frame house in Masocado, or the siding on the houseboat there. I fiddled with these settings for DAYS.

Thank you, sweetie. :) I will go take a look. :)

I found these ones on XStreet. Best I found, and not bad really. Comfy, for bowling shoes.

Hmm it's a bit hard to say without looking at what you're talking about as it could depend based on what shape the prim is that you're texturing .. or is it a sculptie? Sorry if you know this already but you can texture each face of a prim individually and alter the characteristics of each face like the rotation, repeats etc. So for something like a basic cube, it has 6 "faces" that you can texture independently. If say you have a rectangular box shaped and apply a bathroom tile like texture, you may need to adjust the repeats differently for each face so it has a uniform appearance. http://secondslog.blogspot.com/2005/09/tutorial-texture-of-our-world.html You might also need to change the planar texture mapping setting depending on the shape of the prim http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Video_Tutorial/Planar_texture_mapping

Not sure if any of that made sense but post a pic maybe or I can look at it in world later if you want. Texturing can be really tricky sometimes especially with things like sculpts. If it is a sculpt, there are also test grid patterns that you can use to help line things up https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=1656096

Thanks, Josh! They are prims, not scuplties. I'll try to take a pic tonight. :)

Oooh, and thanks for the head's up about that test grid pattern!

Question/request:

I want to do some retexturing in my house (stuff is modifiable) - in particular, I want to look for different tiles for my bathtub and sink areas.

Here's the question. The tub is in...4-5 sections, and if I apply the tile texture to each of the sections...they don't all line up, nor are the tiles the same size. I've been tweaking the rotations/repeats per meter, the number of horizontal/vertical repeats per face, offsets, etc., but I really don't know what I'm doing.

Is there a guide somewhere? (I've been searching. :))

Do you know about this one? Lil turned me on to it:

https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=1444355

You apply the pattern to the surfaces you want to align, and it's super easy. You see immediately if the texture needs to flip or rotate, whether the scale is off, or how the patterns don't line up.

Once you get the alignment patters aligned, you just pop in your texture and voila.

my laptop doesn't get hot. do i still need one?

You only need a cooling tray if your laptop gets hot.

Make sure your vents are clear (not blocked with dust) and just feel the laptop. If it isn't hot, you don't need one.

I bet the laptop gets hot in your bed because your blanket blocks the vents. (That, or it's really into you.)

There's another way, if you are making your own textures.

1. Assemble your wall or other structure.
2. Assign a simple blank texture to the prims, and give each one a different color.
3. Take a picture of the thing. Zoom in as close as you can, and center your camera to take the pic as flat to the camera as possible.
4. Take the picture into Photoshop and use it as a guide for the following...

1. Put the guide pic on a layer, and create a new layer above it.
2. Create your texture for the WHOLE wall, including windows and architectural details
3. Cut out pieces of the texture corresponding to the prims in your guide picture
4. Save those pieces as separate texture files. Change the Image size to be square...256x256 or 512x512, whichever is closer.
5. Upload all the texture files to SL, and plaster each one on its appropriate prim with a 1 to 1 size ratio.

If you did this accurately, the pieces should fit with very little tweaking.

(I'm sure there's a way to use Masks to make using the guide picture easier, but I'm a Photoshop klutz)

Dashing in after work before running out again. Scandal here -- I'm going to a Pole Dancing class tonight with my daughter and her roommate :D . We heard about them and heard that they are better than an aerobic workout for cardio and weight loss, so we are going to give it a shot. I'll give you a review later tonight.

This literally is what I would call one of the best "dummy's tools for building". First put on the texture you want to use and use the repeats and such to get it to look like you want -- smaller or bigger tiles, etc.. Then apply the pattern to that piece and all others and make them all line up in size & color to the first one. It really is a cinch. Once everything lines up, put your real textures on and it is smooth as a baby's...... um well, smooth lineup anyway.
:D

Okay, beginning pole dancing is absolutely the hardest thing I have ever tried to do. All my years of dance lessons only barely helped. And my daughter already wants to install a pole in the living room to practice.

Can someone please give me back 2 hours I wasted with my life?

I'm not feeling so great this evening so I canceled my rl plans and laid on the couch and watched "The Bachelor". I've never seen it before but what a completely inane show. I don't know why I didn't stop watching it because it was so ridiculous but it was like a train wreck you just couldn't help looking at. :o
