What are you doin eating oxtails? That's a black thang, my sista..... :p I love oxtails, over rice with gravy. I also do chitlins (chitterlings to the uninitiated) and pigs feet. I don't care for tripe, or menudo for that matter (tripe again) but do love a lot of the Filipino delicacies, lumpia, pancit, adobo, mmmmm

I have never had menudo- isn't that Mexican? Not sure- but i think it is same if not similar because of spices. Oxtails is a very Cuban dish too- 'cause there is a lot of African influence in the Cuban culture from the time of slavery, as well as the usual European stuff (You should see my brothers- one is definitely light skin black, the other is blonde and blue eyed - me, i am very fair, but dark, curly hair and light brown eyes. My paternal grandmother was half black Cuban and half white French).

Oh- I have eaten gator on numerous occassions- that's not weird! I am in Florida! Frog legs, goat... see- some stuff is not weird to me.

Oxtail makes the best stock for soup but you have to boil it for hours.

I must have been born out of the wrong woman :p I'm a little blonde Jew from Brooklyn, and I eat all of those things with gusto :D

Nom nom nom...

I have another friend, a 'little blonde Jew' also who can also beat me to the table for that kind of ethnic stuff. (Of course some of HER ethnic stuff is just as interesting) Maybe it's the NY thing.....she's also in Brooklyn.

Yes, I think it was a sensory thing, the feel was very mushy. Lol, I don't even remember what it tasted like because the texture was the first thought to hit. :o

Another hunt?
/me runs screaming.

lol

Actually, clover is a hunt goddess. She finds all the coll stuff and I get a fat inventory full of things I'll never wear.

Thanks for the breakfast and coffee. I need lots today for some reason. I woke up a little late and did not get my first cup until I made it to work.

On a wild tangent, we have been getting a mass of grasshoppers all over out here. No exactly a swarm of epic scale but a lot of them none the less. Anyway, they made me think of the biblical reference of eating locus and honey. I think I'll pass on that. I have had some adventuresome foods before and as I have gotten old I have become a little less bold in what I will stick in my mouth.

Anyway, long story for a short question: What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?

Intentionally?

It was more like headcheese with fish but not as transparent. There may have been sour creme involved but I do not know for sure.
