Wow- He's human after all!
And yes, the guy behind him is funny -

Actually, if you view the video, you see he is turning to assist his wife down the stairs. Another lying pic purporting to be journalism.... seems to be par for the course any more.

I don't mean to be sanctimonious either... I just get such a bug up my butt about how information is twisted in the public forum to fit some preconcieved agenda, or for profit, or for a cheap laugh... it's all about the spin any more.

Very true. But everyone seems to be doing it.Each side gets their turn at pointing and laughing, lieing and obfuscating.

That being said, mocking our elected officials is one of the great pastimes, going back to Mark Twain. And while the nastiness has increased, for the most part, they deserve it.

I don't disagree with that, Brenda. My problem is mostly with journalism, if that can be said to exist any more... there was a time when serious journalism could be found, balanced reporting, thoughtful analysis. And actually, it still exists, although it's harder and harder to find it in the flood of cheap shots, sound bites and misleading images we find on the interwebs...

I hate to disagree with you and to argue about politics, but I don't think it's so.

Although Dubya was mocked pretty thoroughly, there was none of the vitriol and character assassination that we saw during the Clinton years. After Bush came into office, after all the abuse that was thrown during the Clinton years, it practically became a crime to criticize the president at all.

Clinton deserved anything he got. He made a mockery of the presidency and he made our country look like a joke.

You do? There were times I was actually *afraid* to speak my mind while Bush was president.

in RL i am considering cut my hair really short, and if i do i'll probably go to short hair in SL also. we'll see.

Just one piece of advice - if you go short in RL then find the best, most exclusive salon that you can afford and have it done by the best stylist there. Short hair on women that does not require a ton of daily maintenance is extremely difficult to achieve but is worth it. Sit quietly and take his/her advice.

I guess the same in SL, to get away from the long waist length prim hair and get something short is very hard to do, but IMO worth it.

Oddly, and speaking as an outsider looking in with a liberal viewpoint (by your countries standards anyway), Bush Jr. did that far better than Clinton could have dreamed of. I only posted this because you wrote "made our country look like a joke" implying you were concerned with external perceptions.

I was wondering if the phrase "regular basis" was going to draw a response.

I'll amend that to say "very regular basis", but I'm not posting a schedule. :D

Almost as much as now. Go over to the PRS forum across the street and espouse anything remotely resembling a conservative or religious view point and see what happens. All it takes is for you to say you believe in God and go to church on Sunday and the ridiculing starts. It why I don't go into that subforum. It's the way things are. it's OK to point at the other guy, but when the finger gets pointed at you.........

Clinton's mockery was due in large part to his behavior, but his successor was not spared the vitriol. It was just aimed at other areas. It's par for the course now. Look at how Dan Quayle was raked, especially after the Murphy brown comment. It's a nasty business. Politics are polarized now, there is no middle. Unfortunately, they don't do anything to help themselves. They just keep adding to the comedy.

I think they were equally embarrasing, just in different ways.

Er, no. I spent about three hours putting that comic together instead. This... *dramatic pause* ... is just the beginning. (Of a major panic attack, I suspect :D)

That was very entertaining, Skell. I've had to be stern with myself here lately too and mine is only about 11k.

Definitely true, for both sides and anyone in between. It is almost impossible to get the "truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" from any politician or media outlet these days.

You must not have been watching The Daily Show, or David Letterman, or Bill Maher, or Keith Olbermann or watched any of 100 stand up comedians during W's time.

And please, don't say "I hate to disagree with you". There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with someone and stating so. That's another unfortunate by product of our time. It is a big peeve of mine.

This is too good.

That Obama/Sarkozy picture?

The father of the lady had this to say:

From: someone
And dad found some solace in the episode. "Thank God that [Italian playboy Prime Minister Silvio] Berlusconi was nowhere near her," he said.

The way I saw it, Bush could not open his mouth or do anything without being criticized.

I've felt the same during Clinton's years, the Bush years, and during the current Obama reign.

Maybe it has more to do with where we live, what media we watch/listen to, and our own perspective of things?
