I disagree. Ditto this. The mud flinging comes from all over - I mean - all over - David Letterman and Palin come to mind rather recently- And they don't stick to the political views or what is done in office. Yes we had great Bill Clinton Ov(r)al Office jokes, but we sure heard about Bush's daughter or daughters i forget, drunken carvorting- and boy did the media go to town on trashing Sarah Palin's family- so yeah, if every once in awhile someone makes a crack about the President's lack of communication away from his Teleprompter I think we can consider that pretty damn mild. _____________________

The way I saw it, Bush could not open his mouth or do anything without being criticized. I've felt the same during Clinton's years, the Bush years, and during the current Obama reign. Maybe it has more to do with where we live, what media we watch/listen to, and our own perspective of things? I agree, except for the Obama one. Mostly because I've stopped paying attention, so have not noticed. Except, you know, now. Heh, I thought the picture was funny right then right after the comment it was responding to, and I didn't even immediately notice that was the Presidents of the US of A and France. |

Almost as much as now. Go over to the PRS forum across the street and espouse anything remotely resembling a conservative or religious view point and see what happens. All it takes is for you to say you believe in God and go to church on Sunday and the ridiculing starts. It why I don't go into that subforum. It's the way things are. it's OK to point at the other guy, but when the finger gets pointed at you......... I can't speak for the conservative side, but on the religion side I'm doing a fairly good job holding my own in PRS (if I do say so myself..and I do, oh I do! ![]() re: politics, IMHO there is plenty of blame to go around with prior presidents. You can't hold the highest US office without making mistakes, or enemies. And that's as close to politics as I'll get in the thread that is supposed to be filled with happy, fluttery butterflies, fluffy bunnies, and lolcats. ![]() _____________________

Maybe it has more to do with where we live, what media we watch/listen to, and our own perspective of things? It started for Clinton and has become worse ever since. I just wish people would remember how much they pointed and laughed at the other guy when their guy is the one being pointed and laughed at. That is all I will say on the matter. ![]() _____________________

Maybe it has more to do with where we live, what media we watch/listen to, and our own perspective of things? Probably. I am pretty liberal and I lived out the sticks for a couple of years. Imagine me, an Irish smart-mouth from New England in a sea of rednecks. I'm not usually afraid, but I honestly thought about putting a wide flat rock in mouth so that I would have to take it out before I said anything. Anyway, I'm done on the subject, too. . _____________________

I hate to disagree with you and to argue about politics, but I don't think it's so. Although Dubya was mocked pretty thoroughly, there was none of the vitriol and character assassination that we saw during the Clinton years. After Bush came into office, after all the abuse that was thrown during the Clinton years, it practically became a crime to criticize the president at all. . They why isn't Jon Stewart in a camp now? _____________________

Personally, I would prefer that discussion of politics and religion, about which we are all destined to disagree, go to a subforum dedicated to such wrangling. There is no such subforum on these boards, ergo ... Let's all go moon Amtrak instead, much more productive! http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-296660 ![]() Nice trains, I love Amtrak. As far as the mooning goes, meh. But I didn't get the complaints about the police. I didn't see anything impeding the festivities. _____________________
