Very true.
The thing is, last time I didn't answer the phone I had half of my family banging on my door wondering what had happened.
They'd driven for over an hour because they thought something bad had happened. They hadn't even tried ringing my mobile or trying again in a few mins.

Now I answer the phone everytime, its bloody sales calls

About 10, 11 years ago I had very loud banging on my door. At roughly 2, 3 am. It was my father at the door. He and my mother had driven hours, an hour and a half at least, just to slam their body against my door at roughly 2 or 3 am. Apparently I had missed their call.

My grandfather had died. They were on their way down to grandparents house. Another 2, 3 hours down the road.

I always choose my outfit first, then shoes, hair, and jewelry. If I am wanting to wear a particular pair of earrings, then the hair is done after jewelry, otherwise, that order does not matter.

Me too, except I always choose my next outfit before taking off the current one. Got tired of crashing naked and bald, and relogging that way, while I rummaged through my closet deciding what to wear after I stripped. So now I decide first, then strip.

Mari, those are great. :) Where is that Airport? It would be a great place for Vanity pics.

Assuming it is still around (was special for the opening, but I doubt there's been much time for clean up), it would be at 500-700m above the Whisker sim.

Wait, my mother was never really sure of my paternity. She was one of those hippie tree hugging people after all.:p

So what were you going to ask me?:D

I know, I have some friends who are like that. They chastise me, because I don't use any IM's, I screen all my calls and sometimes just don't want to talk, my cell phone is off more than it's on. Sometimes I will answer the phone in a sleepy voice in the middle of the day. They ask"Oh, did I wake you.?" I answer "No, it's OK. I had to get up to answer the phone anyway?"
I always check caller id on calls at home and if I do not recognize the number/name or want to talk, then I let the machine take it. My cell phone lives in my purse and most of the time, if it rings, I won't even hear it. The cell phone is for my convenience and/or emergency use -- not so that somebody can talk to me any time *they* feel like it.

I don't ever strip --- well, not for changing clothes anyway ;) .

I decide on my outfit, click 'add to outfit' on the folder (I keep full outfits in folders - almost never wear individual pieces), then I go to the previous outfit folder and click 'take off items'.

My cell phone lives in my purse or my truck. I forget to charge it all the time too.:o I got it mainly for the schools to call me if I'm not home and needed . That's the only time I really pay attention to it.

cell phones... i went almost 2 years with only 3 people knowing my cell #. now, my list is super long. it rings constantly now. not always who i 'wish' was calling, but it's still always nice to talk to friends. :) however, i think everyone forgot i have a landline.

edit: i do love when my kids call me. i can't answer it fast enough. i have to 'think' if i want to answer with most anyone else. ... most...

Claire, if your phone is with BT, get Caller Display. It's only £2.50 a month (you might need to get a different phone, depending on whether yours will handle caller display; most newer ones do) but it's invaluable for showing you when someone you *know* is calling, as opposed to a random salesperson.

Click the Home Phone Security Features tab; you'll find it under there:

http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=25504

Also, register with the Telephone Preference Service, on both your landline and mobile:

http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/

I was getting a ridiculous number of unsolicited sales calls, both on my mobile and on my (ex-directory) landline. I registered both numbers with TPS and the unsolicited calls have dropped to almost zero. Well worth doing. (There's a Mailing Preference Service, too, if you get a lot of junk mail.)

Oh cool, this is a good idea. I'll check it out, thanks!

clothing - i decide on what color i want to wear, then i dress first. i often try new hair after dressed, but usually go back to my main favorite wig. shoes are evil. i spend more time trying to match shoes to my outfit than anything. i really need to advance my shoe inventory.

in RL i am considering cut my hair really short, and if i do i'll probably go to short hair in SL also. we'll see.

This is going to sound cold, but there is this thing that it somehow matters if you know a loved one has passed away immediately. A couple of times I have been in that situation where I have been out of contact, and when learning the news a few hours later, accompanied by the hand wringing from the person delivering it, have always asked, gently "Does my knowing it then or now make any difference? They are just as dead."

Over time, I've really changed the way I think about how we treat death. In so many ways we respond so selfishly, as if we have to make a public grief show in order to validate our feelings for the person. And don't get me started on the Business of Death.

I once had to drive to a friend's house in the early morning and tell her that her father had just died. She was incredibly close to him, and her family didn't want the news delivered by telephone.

I suppose I could have waited until the morning, but she (and her family) would never have forgiven me.

Of course it's selfish - it's the people left behind who have to deal with their absence.
