I had a conversation with one of my aunts this weekend. We were at a family gathering and my mother made some remark about me and SL. My aunt's eyebrows shot up and she said, "Do you do that?" and when I said "yes" she went off in a gale of laughter.

She kept asking me questions and no matter what I said she found it outrageously funny.

She asked, "What do you do there?" I said, "Right now I'm building a house."

After she laughs for a while she asks, "What will you do with it?" (I think she pictured me furnishing a tiny house with tiny furniture, like in a Beatrix Potter story, so I did NOT say I was going to live in it.) I said, "When I'm done, if it's any good, other people might buy it." She laughs for half a minute.

"What will they buy it with?" so I explain about lindens. She laughs. She asks how you get lindens. I say you buy them. ha ha ha! And can you turn them into real money? Yes you can. ha ha ha! How do you do that? There is a currency exchange on the secondlife website. ha ha ha!

"In fact," I say, "There is a man who made enough money in second life to buy himself a convertible sports car."

She looks at me and her face twitches like she is about to collapse to the floor in hysterics, and she says, "In real life?"

And when I say, "Yeah," she just goes wild with laughter.

.

LMAO! you know what, i think she gets it! bwa ha ha ha ha i love your aunt! :D

Hey does anyone know how I can email a particular Linden? I have her first name... she replied to my support ticket, but I can't get in-world right now and I wanted to follow up with an email. Would it be just first name@lindenlabs.com or what?

It *typically* is name @ lindenlab.com (not lindenlabs), but it can vary at times. Example, Michael Linden is michaelb@ instead of michael@.

@ Mari - wow! In spite of all SL's problems this weekend, you still packed a lot in. :)

It seems like the rough weekends are the busiest!

This pic of yours:

looks like the same building we were looking at...from the other direction.I was fascinated with it!

More'n likely. It's not like there's many buildings there!

what a (another) great review! that shot of the bridge at the port is poster quality. but this one with the dogfight is my fave. super cool!

If I'd been smart, I woulda run video of this. Was me an two other planes out there doing acrobatics. Tons of fun zippin' and dartin' around each other.

This is a comprehensive, albeit long, article by Gwyneth Llewelyn about The Anatomy of Lag where she talks about some common lag myths you often hear about and the history of how they have been perpetuated. Well worth the read along with some nice building tips to mitigate the grey goo we often encounter.
