From: Amaranthim Talon Thank you Kaimi- that seems quite acceptable- the last part where u say what shd be- in other words just be good to each other and live and let live. OK, I can be that sort of feminist- but if it's ok, I will continue to bring and take the dinner plates away and wait on him - I like it and it get's the lawn mowed. Hai Gaiz! Great to see some more puppy pics, maybe we can finally clear the cat essence from this place. Lula: I passed your wishes on to all the sailors I met...along with that pic of you in the bikini. . I stood on the deck of Intrepid and thought about Memorial Day, and thanking them and all those currently serving and realized while we should be grateful to them, the day really isn't about them, thankfully. They have not had to make that ultimate sacrifice, and hopefully never will. I hope that Lula's son, Maureen's nephew, the loved one's of any others here, and my own brother and several other family members never have to be really thanked on Memorial Day. I'd rather we did that on Veteran's Day. Also we tend to focus on the Armed Forces on days like today, but I always use it as a time to remember our civilian uniformed service people as well, be they Police, Fire or EMS, who have also given all they had for us. Sadly, people dear to me number in this category, and they should be remembered as well. Enough editorializing.

/me curls up and ponders...
Should I join a bunch of the capture role play groups and sic them on that thread...
Especially since the boss lady of the group made their stance abundantly clear...
And I get giggles reading Rock's post on it, since it would mean he couldn't have his pets since her stance would kill the rp on his sim too.

From: Maureen Boccaccio LOL!!! I think that was my typo. *fixed* Have fun at the movies! I cannot wait to see Star Trek; Jerboa's been teasing me since he's already seen it. Perhaps tomorrow!!! First before I forget, many thanks to everyone posting their puppy pix. I've been enjoying them more than you can imagine. I've mentioned before that Ghosty and I aren't allowed to have pets here, so I'm living vicariously through all of you for now. (EDIT! Mr. Fish just glared at me. He wants everyone to know he is indeed considered a pet!) Mo - Star Trek waz teh awesomest flick evuh! They did such a great job in casting, and in tone. Major thumbs up from both of us, we're even thinking of seeing it again and we never do that. BTW, new Kirk is such a cutie

I am done with THAT thread. While there is some value to what they say, about RL, their transposing it to SL is just ridiculous in my opinion. But it does speak to what I think is the future of SL,and RL, more and more people with that type of agenda will be arriving if LL's predictions come to light. The self proclaimed "feminist/leftists" in that thread remind me of those I banged heads with in college in "Women's Studies". I had no use for their narrowly defined movement then, nor do I now.

Chris Pine, who played Kirk is the son of Robert Pine, who played Captain Getraer, on CHIPs. He was good, but Karl Urban, as McCoy got my attention, in a big way. I had never heard of him before, but since seeing that movie I've thought of him often.......

Did you noticed that the little creature that was his sidekick was Deep Roy, who played the Oompa Loompa(s) in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? That amused me

There used to be a group of women that hung out in the streets of NYC, sitting at desks with big glass bottles for "contributions" who touted the same kind of politics as "that" thread. People used to walk by and just laugh at them, or better yet, snear and walk away. Somehow also got themselves mixed up with Greenpeace/Peta, etc. It was one big mishmash of radicalism, dirty t-shirts, hairy armpits and angry shouting. More of an embarrassment to the woman's cause than anything else.

That amused me Simon Pegg's Scotty was a bit of a departure from James Doohan's, a bit more bufoonish, but very enjoyable. I dd love his reference to Jonathan Archer, though. Just to catch up, Three R needs to post more pics, she is Da Bomb. I'm glad Kaimi weighed in on That Thread, as usual she is the voice of sanity and reason, and she is dead on the mark, and Treasure, as far as Boomer goes, I'm lucky to have him.

From: Weston Graves I thought the fellow who plays the young Spock really nailed it. It just couldn't have been better all around. They all were amazing, young Spock too! The kid who was young Kirk cracked me up also. When that cop came and demanded his name, the way he piped up with no hint of even attempting to lie, priceless! Truly, I think they did a great job finding people who captured the essence of each one of those people without going over the top into trying to emulate the originals too much. Major kudos to the cast, director, everyone. Well worth waiting for this one and one to purchase when it comes out on DVD.

Regarding the idiotic thread- how about everyone go out there and create a few question threads? If enough folks do it maybe it will push all that bullcrap off page one.

From: Amaranthim Talon I will continue to bring and take the dinner plates away and wait on him - I like it and it get's the lawn mowed. as is true with any job, all the players must act with a team effort mentality. it makes the most sense that the skills one has learned over a lifetime would make them the most productive employee of said task, vs. learning new skills every time a task was looming. that's not to say that learning new tasks isn't also important, if not little more than to break up the monotony... women are natural nurturers and nesters (not to mention the fact that we are the milk makers), so it makes perfect sense that they would more easily slip in to the role of child (bearer), rearer and other domestic home-making type roles. this is not to say that every single woman will nor should enjoy such roles... but is is our choice to make as individuals. the fact that women as a whole are stereotyped is no more dramatic and no less annoying than any racial, sexual or age related stereotypes... for example. but you know, men are stereotyped too. and while i deem it as unfair as that placed upon women, it is also not without some sort of merit. for example, the word idiot originated in the 1300's, and surely was not first used to describe a woman - of that i have no doubt.
