The human race has evolved beyond the need to camp. We might get a lot wrong, but we got that one right.

Really? Versus over here in the U.S. used to be OLN (Outdoor Life Network) and has been getting better and better, showing more cycling every year since Lance's first Tour de France after cancer. Or did it used to show more and I just missed it? I do get some cycling news from the sites you mentioned and from BBC Sports sometimes. (And I really will watch more cycling on the internet if I ever get it hooked up to my big tv so I can lie on my couch while I watch! :D )

One year it showed almost all of the Giro and the Vuelta and had the Tour on twice a day. It also had more of the U.S. scene (briefs on things like the International around Altoona, a non-pro race) and more of the off road season. It has receded a bit from that mark.

The "golden rule" actually appears in almost every religion on Earth in one form or another, with few exceptions. If you take only one form, then of course you get misinterpretations; its easy for literalists to choose a sentence and work it to fit their own doctrines.

For example, the Mahabharata states "This is the sum of duty: do not do to others what would cause pain if done to you." This isn't intended to mean that one shouldn't give a child an inoculation because a needle hurts, of course ... cultists always go for the base meanings because the dullards comprehend them and it helps to build their flocks. :(

Unfortunately, not to beat it to death, the Golden Rule does not stop proselytizers. Since they feel they are doing you a favor, they don't see annoying the crap out of you or showing absolutely no respect for your religion is any kind of problem or violation of the Golden Rule. I will concede that most of them will only twist it a bit further to get around my version, but at least they have to make a bit more effort.

What's all this about a Jewish girl that doesn't go camping. I thought that was part of your heritage. 40 years in the desert and all that.

Amara, I do bookkeeping now lol. Isn't that an odd twist of fate? Taught it to myself, when I got THIS job, 20 years ago.

And, wound up being quite a wiz with investing too. Somehow I understand things about the stock market, interest, banking, etc. way better. Money means more to me I suppose than abstract information. It's concrete.

Strange how you can figure out the numbers when they mean something to you.

i'm one of those freaks who is a whiz with numbers, in general. not like a genius, but i just 'get it'. also, please never EVER tell me your phone number. it is really annoying to be a walking phone book for everyone i know. (it used to be cool, now i lie and say i don't remember cuz i'm tired of giving out phone numbers. use the phone book lazy fukks, dammit! )

I just want to know how to erase the phone numbers that are no longer active. Why in heaven's name do I still retain numbers for people who haven't had those numbers in YEARS???? (and by years, I mean...like at least 20 yrs.)

Yeah, we rarely watch it anymore. No history left on it. :(

that's not true. just today we have "Ancient Discoveries" and "Cities of the Underworld", "Classroom", "Civil War Journal", "Targeted", "Declassified", "Man, Moment, Machine", "Shooutout!", "the Universe" and "Extreme Trains". all before prime time, of course.

apparently, prime time is when people want to watch things that don't require thinking and contemplation.

Extreme Trains is my Ice Road Truckers, I can't get enough of it.

Daytime hours are better it seems, and it is of course exaggerating to say there is nothing I love all the Peter Weller stuff, the series on Rome was fabulous, Harry Smith's holiday shows are great, and I can watch paint dry if Edward Herrman is narrating it. Also Dogfight and Battlefield 360 are good too.
