No pictures....typical of me grrrr....

But, last night I checked out the Doctor Who Experience sim. It's very under construction. But there is a little museum there that brought back very fond memories of watching Jon Pertwee, and Tom Baker.

They did have one neat thing up and running: A holodeck that rezzed the different tardis control rooms.

All in all, it was a very nice trip down memory lane.

Wow, Honey---you drive an hour each way for work? Is that mostly because of distance or traffic?

Ever find yourself doing sequences on license plates as you are driving? Like, what a coincidence, if you subtract the second from the left number from the next to last, all the numbers would then be a sequence. Or if you add the first two numbers, it equals the sum of the last four.

Then I tell my wife how easy it is to remember that license plate since it is almost a sequence of numbers if..., and she has learned this little snort that combines disgust and disbelief in equal amounts.

i used to do that with everything - numbers on doors, menu prices. it was something i could not control.

one day i just made it all stop. seriously. i REFUSE to consider numbers beyond necessity. that's the same day i also lost passion for most things..... hmmmm... coincidental (in retrospect).

You only need a good head shot. Unfortunately, getting a good head shot from inside a tent requires a certain degree of risk, but put that to the back of your mind.

It will be the last thing the bear eats that way.

and now you understand why you need a 15 shot gun! :D

edited to add: if you can see the bears head, it might be too late.

Good morning People!

My day has started on a very odd note. Just took the bus crosstown and this elderly woman gets on and asks to sit next to me. She attempts to cross over me to sit near the window (I'm on th aisle) so of course, I get up to allow her access without having to tumble across me. This for two reasons: a) she's elderly and shouldn't have to struggle as such and b) my bad knees make it difficult to manuever this anyway and it's easier to just stand up.

So. She plops down, literally. And, she's a bit plump and her down coat doesn't help matters (I, can't say much on that account since I'm somewhat zoftig myself). The bus starts to move at this point, and as I sit down I sort of slide into my seat and find that her ass is hanging into part of my area. So, as I got in, of course we kind of jiggled near each other a bit, as our bodies sort of had to figure out where we were going, you know?

With this, she loudly says "OK, I can't sit here, she's too big" and starts to stand up!

So, I just keep my trap shut and allow her to move away. I can already tell she's a bit "off" by this comment, since she's bigger than I am.

She goes to sit in the handicap seat facing me. And begins a tirade against me that I "hurt" her, and how dare I do such and such, etc. Loudly mind you. I'm like, what on earth are you talking about? She keeps insisting that I purposely smashed into her as I sat back down in the chair! OMG. I try and explain to her that my knees are an issue and that when I got back in the seat the bus started to move and I lost my balance; that I wasn't aware if I hurt her and all she had to do was say something; not make quick assumptions that I had purposely gone out of my way to hurt her!

Now, I'm beginning to think she may suffer from some paranoid delusions and perhaps nothing I say will help anyway when this nice lady near us gently puts her hand on my shoulder and says to me quietly something to the effect of not to bother getting involved, it's not worth it. So, I decided to just keep quiet.

Old lady keeps ranting, saying she needed to "teach me a lesson", blah blah blah.

I get off the bus, and another woman got off with me and also said to me she thought something was wrong with the person. I thanked her for the POV and we got a small chuckle out of the incident.

Don't you just love NYC? Always a laugh a minute

I've been camping many times. I've taken an old parachute and fashioned a backpack and a tent. I've survived a week on a single rabbit and water purification tablets. I've slept in the desert with only a space blanket for shelter. I've snowshoed through Maine wilderness with only a survival knife.

And not once have I ever been eaten by a bear.

So just get out there. Enjoy yourself. And shake your boots out in the morning before putting them on. (Not a lesson you want to learn the hard way!)

Elora, I have found in my short time on this planet so far, that John and/or Jane Q. Public can be a very strange individual...I'm just glad that we're not all the same! If everyone was as perfect as the rest of us, we wouldn't have anything to talk about, anyway.;)

eep!

Freezing rain is the worst! Especially in a place that isn't used to it, doesn't keep their roads treated.

Stay safe today Honey.

Be safe Honey. As others said, that has to be the worst to drive in.

Had that here about a month ago and it was a harrowing experience. Wound up getting stuck in the ice in my parking lot too, 1/2 way in a spot and nearly had to call AAA to come pull us out  Good thing Ghosty is persistant, he managed after some time to inch by inch get the damn thing out. Decided to house it overnight in one of those high-rise covered garages instead :o

A little of both, Ashe. If there's no traffic, it's 45-50 minutes. Typical traffic, it's exactly one hour each way. Heavy traffic...an hour and 15-20 minutes.

It's a helluva drive, but we live on a lake with a gorgeous view, and that's the trade-off :)

Thanks for the well wishes all :)

This being Dallas...I used to live about 8 miles from where I worked downtown. It took me 45 minutes on a good day to get to work, and the same going home.

So, an hour to live 50 miles away in the country, on a lake, is much nicer than living in the city and a 45 minute drive in stop and go traffic. :)

Yikes! 8 miles...45 minutes! I'd be biking to work.

I was tempted. I even thought about walking. They didn't have the train system to that point, until just before I moved in with my hubby (even further away from downtown).

And definitely no train out where we are now :(

No Jesse, not really...as Honey & Jerboa later commented, it can take a large amount of time to travel a small distance, I've done it myself over the years :)
