for reasons unexplained, i find this show quite interesting. so will Amar. ;)

Husband is at times amused other times calls them wimps :) - He says he would enjoy doing the truck trains in Australia. He is a big fan of Deadliest Catch.

Considering this is the last time I went "camping" my judgement might not be the best on the topic. :D

Actually that might be enough camping for one lifetime.

Man vs Wild

He is cute and I love his smile but the show is soooo faked. My daughter and I like it but find Survivorman with Les to be more realistic.

Now if I was going to be stuck in a survival situation and had my choice of the two then it would of course be Bear :p

you sound just like my husband. :p

he says Survivorman is a sad comparison to Man vs Wild - i personally could not tell you the difference - i thought they were repeats of the same guy. .. the one who died of a stingray stinger. :(

Prefer the Golden un-rule: Do not do unto others what you would not want done to you.

Gets rid of the whole idea of doing unto others from the get-go. Even then, still has one weakness (but still a good starting point, like "First, do no harm.";): It is surprising what some people think other people would enjoy having done to them, especially if it includes saving their soul.
I always sort of liked "do unto others what you want done to you"
;)

@ Claire - this is news to me

Ok, not completely lol. We have discussed it. However, he's aware that I've never been camping before. And, I'm a Jewish girl from Brooklyn. We don't camp. It's against the natural order of things as we know it. And, while wildlife doesn't freak me out, bugs do. Oh, I'll probably be able to rustle up a damn good dinner on a campfire (s'mores although I recall having a discussion about both of us not being nuts about them, so maybe just plain old toasted marshmallows).

If there isn't a (clean!) bathroom nearby, (and a sleeping bag with nice down filling), someone is going to be a very very unhappy camper. And so am I :(

(Let's not tell Ghosty I have used the great outdoors as a public toilet before? And not while drunk either. Don't want him getting too comfortable in the knowledge that I can rough it if need be, ok?)
Camping is best done in a 4 or 5 star hotel -- roughing it is dropping down to a 3 star place.
:D

Smores can be made at home - no need for the woods at all.

are you freakin' kidding me? OMG! chocolate pudding is SO sexual. seriously - i'm not kinky. but..... chocolate pudding turns this prude into a bedroom slut. i mean- have you even tried it?

Hmmm. Sensations - texture, taste, feel on the skin, having it licked off again... endorphins from the chocolate.... Nope, I can't imagine why you'd say that.

Surprisingly, most of it was actually a good time. The only part I wouldn't want to repeat is the Resistance phase.

What's all this about a Jewish girl that doesn't go camping. I thought that was part of your heritage. 40 years in the desert and all that.

We didn't do that because we wanted to. It was out of need, not desire :p

It can be. It's ok if it's a high 3 headed to 4, but if it's a low 3 on a path to 2.........

I'm really not qualified to explain it. And although I believe I have found the right path for myself I also believe that everyone else has his or her own right path.

I am replying here merely to show the variance present in Eastern philosophies.

In contrast, I believe the world itself is a very real thing. I side with Descartes; I think, therefore I am. I know I am real because I have the ability to imagine what is not real, and what cannot be real, in comparison to what I perceive as my environment.

Like Kaimi, I've found what I consider the right path for myself. I believe in the reality of the physical universe, while she believe this to be an illusion. Both points of view have merits and shortcomings, but for each of us, both is correct.

Hinduism doesn't really have "tenets". In fact, it's safe to say that if you claim to be a Hindu, you are one. :) I happen to ascribe to reincarnation, karma, and am a follower of Vishnu while recognizing all the Hindu gods are representations of one uniting spirit; other Hindus may have very different beliefs. I am reading the Rg Veda, and recognize the Bhagavad Gita as the greatest Veda, but other people may have differing opinions and that's perfectly OK too.

"Hindu" really only means the various beliefs, religions and philosophies found in India.
