Prefer the Golden un-rule: Do not do unto others what you would not want done to you.

The "golden rule" actually appears in almost every religion on Earth in one form or another, with few exceptions. If you take only one form, then of course you get misinterpretations; its easy for literalists to choose a sentence and work it to fit their own doctrines.

For example, the Mahabharata states "This is the sum of duty: do not do to others what would cause pain if done to you." This isn't intended to mean that one shouldn't give a child an inoculation because a needle hurts, of course ... cultists always go for the base meanings because the dullards comprehend them and it helps to build their flocks. :(

Ahhhh a hijack thread made specifically for that, nice ;).

Well anyway, heres my two cents. Religions? I don't have one that I favor or really believe in. The energy behind the religion, I do believe in. No offense. To each his own and I do respect people for what they believe in as long as they respect me for my beliefs. I have really taken bits of all religions(good and bad) and used them as myown personnal "religion".

How I tend to feel on the "force" which for me, is the energy of the universe, after all everything lies within it is maybe there is a "energy" with stability to it and maybe even a type of "thought process behind it. not saying it literally thinks but in a energy sense, it could be the superior energy. Why would I say that? I guess the most beautiful and astonishing thing to me that makes me feel that is the many species of Birds of Paradise. The dances, the calls, the unique look each has etc etc etc. To me they are a good mix of evolution, and thought out energy. I havent had enough coffee to get as "deep" as I'd like but I think in a general sense you get what I mean, plus i gotta scidaddle for a bit anyway ;)

My rant for the day-people who send me those chain e-mails should be shot. My cousin sends me one or two every single day with the threat of bad luck if I don't forward it. I never hear from her otherwise. I really should save them all and one day just send them all back at once and blow up her in-box.

Carry on.

Can we set her and my Aunt up? I have more crap from her than I can deal with. And tons of angel related stuff, cute kitties (not LOL cats, I mean fuzzy wuzzy things your grandmother would save), pithy religious quotes, the aforementioned chain emails, etc.

I never thought about sending them all back to her at once tho. It's utterly brilliant!

If there's pudding, naked, and campfire...

Kumbaya is NOT what will be crossing these lips. :)

This is why I never serve pudding on campouts. It's S'Mores...melty, messy, and HOT.

In my world, naked+pudding is only found in hospitals. Yeck.

I have a couple of dear friends who used to do this time and time again to me. Finally, I called them on the phone and told them that if they sent me one more of these things I'd add them to my spam filter and never respond to another email from them again.

One of them took me at my word, the other didn't. She was so surprised when she called a couple of weeks later to ask why I never answered her emails on a couple of important items.

Hot pudding + naked might put me IN the hospital, however. I'm a messy eater.

I need inspiration.

I have this plot of land...a fairly level stretch just behind the seawall at Lebettu Harbor. I want to do something with it...but what?

It used to be a line of little market stalls, but I'm not formally running a rental operation there any more. Just a couple of plots for friends.

I thought about a little park. Trees, plantings, maybe a greenhouse (I actually started work on a greenhouse there, but it really stinks.) But a really lush garden build takes a lot of prims, and I'd have to buy a lot of trees and things I don't have, and I'm not that great a garden designer anyway.

A parking pad for helicopters, maybe? Used car lot? Dance pavilion? Seaside restaurant? Perpetual Yard Sale? Hamster farm?

Education:
I skipped ahead a year when I was about 7...cause mum taught us a lot at home...then I moved house, and school and went into a class where the teacher resented the fact that I needed special reading books cause I was so far ahead...reading proper books by then, not the ones with three simple sentences per page.
Got to Secondary school, and loved it, I loved reading, but hated the other parts of English though. I like logic...Maths was easier. I got put in an advanced class doing their GCSEs a coupla of years early, but I missed most of that year, went back, and chose my subjects based on what my friends were doing - stupid, I know. Spanish I enjoyed, Maths was ok...till we had to work on triangles. Those things hated me....and so did stats. I loved History, but I ended up with an X grade....I was ill on the exam day and forgot to call in....I prolly wouldn't have remembered all those dates anyway.
I got good results otherwise.

Religion:
I'm still not sure what I believe about it all. I believe in science, but I can't not believe there is something bigger...I figure as long as I'm basically a good person, I have the time to figure it out. I had a Catholic upbringing, my mum is now Druid, My grandma is Methodist, and I've looked into enough to figure that its not what I want right this moment.

Amar:
Thankyou for the link to those boots...wowee, I love em :D

Welcome Harmony!

Rioko:
Totally agree on the chain e-mails. I have days where I get superstitious, and I hate that those emails totally play on that. I try not to pass them on though....don't care about the bad luck.

Oh, and campfire food?
Never been sat around a campfire...also never had s'mores...is chocolate pudding what I call chocolate sponge? Or is it something totally different. I'm voting for s'mores though...if its messy its fun...thats my vote anyway lol.

Think I'm caught up now.

Hey threadies!!

I have a greenhouse you are very welcome to a copy of...I made it. Bit primmy though, think it totals 56. Just lemme know if you want one.

Maybe meld a few of your ideas together....have a dance pavilion, with a pond, and maybe a few plants and seating areas?

Mari, I've been reading the thread about the Blake Sea...what a wonderful opportunity! (Jerboa...are the barnacles cleaned off the hull yet?)

These pics are fabulous; the "Mari Weekend Update" always gives me great ideas...and puts a big smile on my face. Thanks, Mari. :)

Ya, th' blake sea is like the old "Vehicle sims," but sized for some real use. Some really neat bits to it all. Well worth the time to explore.

Glad you liked the update, even if it was a bit sparce (well, mostly Blake Sea) this time. Now if only I hadn't posted it between binary and religion. ;-)

Does anybody know where I can find some education (be it a tutorial or perhaps just samples) of how to cut up the basic prims in different ways? I mean the building block prims (cube, sphere, torus, cylinder, and so on) and the various ways they can be manipulated in the edit window.

I've spent a bunch of time experimenting, but I have to believe there's knowledge out there on how to make "useful" shapes.

The ivory tower has a lot on that, I believe. Also, The Sojourner (RIP) had a nice board showing much of this, which is available near the road at Yadni's Junkyard.

I miss that old show- Connections- that was a great one

Connections, with James Burke? Oh yes. A big RL influence of mines, that one.

Ahh, that's the beauty of it. Your view is also correct. :D

I knew I liked you for a reason. That's how I like to look at the world, even if I came to it in a different way.

Education- I was a straight A student until 7th grade. High honors every year, was in the "gifted" class even. 7th grade came and I started hanging out with the"bad" crowd. Repeated 7th year twice. Finally they threw me in the 8th grade just to get rid of me. When I got into 9th grade they gave me a deal to go into a vocational program instead of regular high-school. If I went the vocational route I would be put in my proper grade(which was 11th at the time) So of course I took it. Vocational schools are fun, lots of guys and only five girls in the school at the time.:D

Anyway, graduated by the skin of my teeth. Finally grew up a bit and went on to a junior college. My plan was to go on to law school after accumulating the required credits etc.since I was far from an A student in high school. Though plans and life have a funny way of changing...So now I just watch law and order and programs of the like to get my fix.:o

Religion- I am an Atheist and usually refuse to discuss religion with anyone. It never ends well.:)

I love camping. My parents and their friends use to take us kids all the time. One of my best memories from childhood. I would love to take my kids sometime. Though my oldest has an irrational fear of bugs and the little one doesn't sleep well anywhere but home. Some day I'll be able to I hope.

hehe, I got a bit sharp with someone last night when they started challenging my views...even though they agreed with me....I don't like arguments, so talking bout stuff like with people I like, I'm always scared of upsetting them.
Felt bad afterwards though...I said sorry lol :o

It's funny though. My best friend in real life is very religious, baptist-goes to church, teaches Sunday school the whole nine yards.... We have had several discussions that have never gotten heated. Though we lurve each other,so that could be why.:)
