I would certainly ban it if it were my system, and it would be me who decided that it's depraved. But I said that I don't have a view about the SL system. I could form a view if I gave it enough consideration though ![]() How would you ban it? Just visually? Would you invest in filters to catch every instance of "Horse and Sex" being used in a sentence? Hire people to monitor all chat and IM's? At anyone time you have 50k people and probably 150k conversations going on at once. I know it is a rare instance I don't have 3 IMs open at one time. And as long as we have private IM's, you will never be able to stamp out "depraved" actions. _____________________

Is there such a thing as trout sushi? Maybe, but there is no Trout sushi. Unless you mean sushi made by Trout. Eating trout is acceptable. Eating Trout is against the Official Trout Rules of Engagement. mmm...I think I figured out what I'll be having for lunch. _____________________

Hey Trout, have you seen those new ultra light rods made from carrots?

You know I'll have to buy one. Maybe I'll get a new reel to go with it. One of those fancy ones made out of turnips. I liked this line: "They also use colourful backgrounds, which have been taken from university research involved in advanced aerospace technologies. " Advanced aerospace technology is responsible for colorful backgrounds? WTF? Why is the space shuttle black and white, then? Why not tiedyed purple and green? _____________________

Eating Trout is against the Official Trout Rules of Engagement. I don't know...you might not object to some of the techniques used in eating, as long as no teeth are involved. ![]() _____________________

Since it appears almost everyone on the forum has posted here I might as well chime in also.
1.) I just love the idea of putting up bleachers and having a listening party. 2.) I only know the OP from the forum, but she seems like a great person and I hope she finds a reasonable solution for this situation. I went to have a look at these stables. (Just out of curiousity. I like horses, but only as friends.) What I noticed is that the animals in question are near the property border, but not right on the edge. Also, a small canal separates the properties and the OP's property along that border is mainly just open land. So, to me it appears that if even if the neighbors won't cooperate, they still only represent a minor inconvenience. (I know, that's easy for me to say since it's not my property.) 3.) I think this thread proves that the whole issue of personal freedoms, doing as you please on your own land, your actions affecting others, where to draw the line on various moral issues, etc. etc., is a very sticky issue. It won't be resolved easily or anytime soon, and when it is, many people on one side or the other won't be pleased with the results. 4.) Forum threads like this remind me of the old game where you whisper something to the person next to you. They whisper it to the person next to them and so on. Once it gets back to the start it has totally changed. I can see making a new game of this. Someone starts a new thread, they copy and paste page 10 of an existing thread, and see it anyone can guess what the original topic was. 5.) Has anyone else had a look at these stables? I mean, horses are one thing but they have an 800 pound gorilla in there! Doing the "horizontal bop" with that bad boy just can't be a good idea. ![]() Good luck, Mari. |

In the same way that LL bans things - declares them as not being allowed. I think you meant, how would I police a ban, and the answer to that is, in the same way that LL polices ageplay. Do you really think there is no ageplay taking place in private IM's? _____________________

Their traffic must have gone through the roof, as everyone here must have been to have a look. I know I just have - wanted to take a look at the Gorilla, and woah, he is a big boy. I didn't have enough nerve to touch the "Start" poseball though.
That said, and before anyone says anything, I am not taking sides, they seem to have left the large plot directly opposite Mari's house empty, for now at least, which would make me think they probably don't realise they can be heard. More curiously though, has anyone taken a look at the banned residents. Who is on the list - our friend the Jumpman. Wonder what he did to piss them off??? |

I have to confess, I am now very scared of the Forums! I'll have some Trout though - /me looks round hopefully clutching her chopsticks! /me slides a jar of hot sake to Joss and begins preparing a California roll, chattering away happily in Japanese with her as he packs crab and avocado onto the nori and rice as he rolls it carefully into a neat package. For you, special treatment. /me tops the roll with thin slices of salmon and chops it into bite sized pieces, then arranges ginger into the shape of a rosebud and slides the plate over the bar. Enjoy! Hmm. Ann and I should go into business. Trout and Ann's Sushi and Pie Experience. What goes better with sushi than a glass of milk and a piece of pie? _____________________

I am not going to do the quote thing here but comment on some of the latest posts.
1. Take screen shots of the bestiality or any ageplay and send them to CBS, NBC and ABC, that'll make LL move on it. In the meantime, LL should makes changes so that open chat cannot leave a parcel and unrestrained camera retraints can't see into private buildings. 2. If a young person takes 3 years of their life playing WOW, 10 hours a day, thats 1068 days X 10 hours=10680 hours. More then enough to get a college education and start a business or a career as well. Now if they only play 6 hours a day which would be the bare minimum to keep up with the "end game" and expansions to the "end game," of WOW--the most popular game in history---that's 6406 hours. Enough for a slacker to pass in college. Many of them don;t make it out of High School so they have to get a GED first. there is no end to the "end game" in WOW. 3. To Phil, nice of you to call Colette in her spinning, but you missed all the 20 other spins and attacks as though I was insulting Combat Vets, by telling of research about battle fatigue in video gamers a preposterous spin of what I was talking about, and frankly your claim I started the flaming is just as much of a spin, "for your own purposes." Initially I posted to say LL needs to make changes to prevent this crap to be seen or heard by others and another to say that people should have compassion for people with mental problems and also realize that these people are hurting themselves, by reinforcing their own fixations. 4. As far as the polar views between free pixels vs. control. I had said I didn't see this as a issue of "condemning," people with mental issues, or even a question of "rights," or even just legal questions. I see it as a question of compassion not control. It's not compassionate to let SL remain as paradise for people fixated on deranged fetishes---because that is not a compassionate thing to do. SL is set up as a peeper's paradise a bestiality paradise and a place where ageplay can be practiced. Currently only ageplay is banned---although still practiced. After WOW was mentioned by Swan, who compared the fetish things to violence in compiuter games issue, I also posted links to show that the issue is a major one and objective studies are finding that the body does not know it's virtual. Meaning the body is a reactive mechanism and does not know it is not really fighting a 100 foot monster. I also said that in WOW hardcore raiding guilds function as military units and millions of young people are in effect being trained as killing machines. if people really give a darn enough to flame me, they should go back and read those links I posted. And all through these posts I was spun, misquoted and flamed by nasty indignant morons. So the message I get is "don't bother us with the details, we have our own agendas." In the meantime...people complain about griefing in SL. Guess what....at least 90 percent of those griefers have been trained to kill in WOW and other wargames, while they are slumming in SL. In the past I have also praised Blizzard for preventing and going after scamming in WOW and LL needs to follow their model, since none of this is going away anytime soon. SL is to WOW as a tinker toy is to a Ferrari, but it has been facilitating things Blizzard won't allow or have control over, so as a haven for long term ethical business, SL, AS IT IS, is a sick joke. |

Before this post, it never occured to me to use sushi as a plaything, but what the heck. As long as you aren't that 800-pound gorilla that everyone is so concerned about, I'm game. Funny. Until that post, I had no idea how to make sushi and didn't speak a word of Japanese beyond "Domo Arrigato Mr. Roboto". SL ROCKS! The last part of your first point does make a lot of sense and should be implemented. Your pleas of compassion, show what a truly dangerous person you are. YOU know what is best for everyone else and dammit YOU will implement controls so we all conform to your all caring compassionate standards. Sorry, I will fight that way of thought till my dying breath. As for your last point, you are dead wrong, these griefers didn't need to be trained in WoW. WoW was just an outlet for their anti social tendencies. In reality, they are nothing but punks who 20 years ago would have been pulling crap in the real world. A good kick in the ass and a few weeks in basic training would go a long way towards curing them. _____________________

Really gorillas aren't that impressive.
"Gorilla males, which dwarf humans in size, have minute penises compared to ours, no thicker and longer than a pencil. Other apes do not reach even this size. In some African countries, saying that one is 'hung like a gorilla' is considered an insult. " _____________________
