So are you guys theorizing that Magellian Linden has secret world under the areas that lowering land is restricted by 4 meters?

So are you guys theorizing that Magellian Linden has secret world under the areas that lowering land is restricted by 4 meters? I don't know about Magellan with regards to that, but I do know the Mole People have historically been known to hide/move beneath the surface of urtahra. They are currently working on Bay City in an inaccessible part of the Grid and I just saw an announcement that they will be fixing roads on the Mainland soon. So those rare mole person sightings may start to become a very everyday occurence. I wonder what moles like to eat? |

I think the private islands are a product of much Linden Research research into the formation of the grid. I believe they have unlocked some of the secrets of time and matter by carefully examining what was spared by the Erase, and in the islands they need not disallow terraforming as there are no artifacts to dig up. Whether these artifacts are protected in order to keep the secrets safe, or because there is danger in exposing them to residents, can only be guessed at. Artifacts, or perhaps forces, hotspots, wormholes, and so on - their existence seems to be implied by the need for protected land. http://www.stabslock.com/TheExplorer.jpg Perhaps that's why there are additional restrictions in Nova Albion? There are some documented weak spots in Grignano, like that one on the second floor of the Brownstone East. /140/27/131380/1.html |

I think in regions that had fluctuations in elevation and sparse population the terraforming is +-4 - but in the city the low-lying land and the former large population (adding up to more things left from former times) must make that too risky - as well as the current busyness leading to the likelihood of someone stumbling across something even without meaning to.
I'd guess the artifacts in place there were thoroughly examined and declared harmless before we ever got to see them. The old limits - shhhhhhhhh - don't speak too loudly... I think that either nothing was left in those sims or - maybe - they were overlooked, somehow. I might be making a mountain out of a molehill... ========== ![]() And notice how "MOLE" and "LEON" are sort of similar? http://www.stabslock.com/TheExplorer.jpg _____________________

Wait - what if Magellan is being held captive by the moles? Too far-fetched?

What I have read about Magellan, I think he will be the one wearing moleskin underpants ![]() I hope the LDPW doesn't have any ulterior motives for recruiting the Mole People and getting them to venture forth from their burrows... their skins seem to be worth quite a bit more than the human skins sold inworld. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PAPJI8?smid=A1V8K0HY8BRAM7&tag=dealtime-hpc-20&linkCode=asn |

/me asked about Magellan at Jack Linden's office hour today. Sadly, he didn't give me permission to quote his reply.
![]() You: and.. where are you hiding magellan?? we know you've got him locked up somewhere!! Jack Linden: ... Wasn't anything really useful, as far as the search for him goes, though. |

I would think that office hours would be part of the public record. Did he answer your question with "No comment" or did he tell you that you couldn't repeat what he'd said? Did he give an indication that they were hiding Magellan? From what I've seen so far, especially the sightings of him on Gaeta and the photos that Jeska said she received from him and posted on Flickr, it doesn't seem to me that they have him in hiding or are holding him in any way. |

Are the private islands part of the old world? Well, they are and they aren't. The Lindens seem to be going to a lot of trouble to site private islands with respect to keeping them separated, at least from the get go. Sure, islands can join up, but only if sufficient voids are allowed for once the joining is complete, which can alter the location of one or both islands – even sending the larger landmass to a completely different part of the Grid. The archipelago of Iaomai, where I make my home, was moved a few months ago from a southern location up to a place near the northern limits. Administrator Dutch informed the Lindens on no uncertain terms that there would be growth, and to make room for it. Not a man prone to asking, is our Dutch. *chuckles* Since that time it has been accreting new lands and is currently at 16 regions. I begin to wonder if the size affects the composition, for as the archipelago has been growing, it has been becoming more like a coherent land, and less like a collection of unrelated regions. |

Now this sounds a lot like what happens when a planet begins to coalesce. Perhaps as more private regions join together into a larger land mass there are fewer places for them to fit on the Grid and they begin to anchor into a more stable and permanent location? But I suppose if they get too large they would get pushed farther toward the outer Grid limits where there would be more room for a larger landmass. |

He just didn't answer when I asked if I could quote him.. He basically said that Magellan is rarely seen and is probably off exploring somewhere, eating bugs and chewing roots.. |

TY to Sal and Os for the answers on private islands. Is there any record of how big the old world was? If some ofd the islands are currently beyond the old borders, then where are they, so to speak - what was there before? _____________________

Pants too tight...

He didn't mention the moleskin underwear then? Every picture I've seen he looks very grumpy. I can't imagine moleskin pants would do that to a chap, so I'm guessing he has standard issue Linden pants in at least one size smaller than they should be. _____________________

Maybe it's out of date, but I've noticed another large part of Gaeta showed up...

The Hazards of Exploration
05-03-2008 12:38
Explored the new eastern edge of Gaeta and was VERY glad I had my protective suit on rather than my usual stylish attire. About midway down that border I was caught in some kind of current and slowly swept off into the void as if taken by some powerful current.
Fortunately, I was able to transport myself back to more solid ground, but my traveling boots were seriously damaged. I thought it prudent to return to my home and effect repairs before attempting any further explorations of the newly revealed lands. |

I was flying due east from Magellan's camp site and ended up flying over the water after passing the last part of Gaeta's gridded landmass. I wasn't registering any negative distance values, which was strange and, eventually, I wound up beneath the water's surface and seemed to descend quite deeply. I was able to stop flying and seemed to be standing still and on something solid, but when looking up noticed that I was still traveling rather quickly eastward. It did indeed feel like a current of some kind. Fortunately I was able to port to a safe location as well. I tried to take a photo of myself but found that I was slowly becoming transparent and ended up not being able to see myself after awhile. |

I spoke to Colton Linden tonight, an he wanted me to let everybuggy know dat he an another Governance Linden are ready and willing to lend a hand to the search (and have, apparently been doing some exploring on their own). He also wishes to know of any future meetings of the explorers.

He also wishes to know of any future meetings of the explorers. So, Colton and a Linden-to-be-named-later are joining the search. I'm not sure what to make of that. Hopefully it's good news, but it's very interesting that one of the Lindens doesn't want their identity known. Maybe there are secret recordings from the inner offices of LL. Is there a parking garage where the meeting can take place? _____________________
