The "regulars" here are helpful and that can not be denied at all, but who decides what is a genuine question or not?

Most of the time, it's fairly obvious who actually wants help and who's trolling. There have probably been a few missteps along the line, but I said it was a community, not Utopia.

I am not sure who this "We" is that you are speaking of, I hope your not speaking for myself.

It's a generalization, meaning anyone on the forums who wants to help other Residents out. If you've never been frustrated by anything on these forums, wow, I'm surely impressed.

From: someone
But the point is your average new user does not know that topic has just been done

I'm talking about topics that are still on the first or second page, not something we discussed two weeks ago. And it happens all the time.

From: someone
I am not sure where you get the word excluded from

All the people running around going, "There's a clique! There's a clique! They're friendly with each other and they know all the inside jokes, so they must be trying to keep poor little me out!"

Look, I'm somewhat socially awkward in RL and, even in SL, not comfortable around large groups of people, which is why I don't visit the Hangout more often. I get that it can seem difficult to make a niche for yourself in an established group, but I don't assign my feelings to other people...the fact that I don't feel like part of the 'in-crowd' is not their fault, it's mine for psyching myself out. Virtually all of the regulars here are cool people if you give them a chance. Do we have our snarky moments? Sure but, again, only human.

Sadly the RA does seem to have an order of hierarchy

You may perceive it that way, but it really doesn't. No one is king or queen of the forums, we're all just struggling along, helping out where we can and having a few laughs along the way.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I'm deeply socially awkward in RL and in SL and have even been known to flee in both. I do not know the inside jokes, all of them :) What is pie again? A take off of the pie menu in game? And did panties have a prior history to "Brenda's panties" (and how the heck did that come about)? And penguins? Not sure but I think someone mentioned that one to me at some point but I can't recall. And that is all the inside jokes off the top of my head that I can recall and I don't even know them. :)

Struggling and trying to help and laughs. Yes. I have tried very hard to help, and seem to have had some success today.

Yep. Banana Republics (Not the stores) have better structure than we do.

For the record: Penguin come from Miss Cherry. It is what you say to the newbie running around with his hopes and dreams exposed looking for sex. Or for any grifer in general. And the whole panties thing is sadly our own, it started in a thread way back when I made acomment about wetting myself from laughing and those damp undergarments took on a life of their own. *And also made me a Thousand Lindens.*

Mine is mostly silver, but also says Dell on it...the desktop, that is... :D But I'm one of those weird people who could list all specs without checking, including how many percent free space I still have on my hard disks (Yes, it's two. Two Maxtor 160 GB hard disks...)

And...how can something be a "clique" if anyone can join? I don't get it.

@Ann: I'm not much of a social person either, I always have to convince myself to go to places with large groups of people-even in SL...

I think it's time to swat this thread.

When people start talking about penguins and pie you have to wonder...
Unfortunately there is a bit of sinister side to this thread. A Private Discussion and Trolling/Flaming.

Forum Guidelines
Private discussions – the forums are a public area for the Second Life community’s use. Individuals who have a dispute with each other have other channels of communication to discuss their differences or communicate – private messaging, IM within Second Life, or chatting within Second Life. Also, threads that are addressed to a single individual or group are inappropriate on the forums, this includes slander or "naming names" in a posts title, starting polls about a particular resident or group, etc.
Flaming, Spamming, Trolling – Flaming (posting a message that is intended to incite anger or directly attack a person or persons), Spamming (multiple posts of the same topic or discussion), and Trolling (a post with an intentionally contrary opinion written with the intent of inciting or getting argumentative opinions) are strongly discouraged.
